Since HUAC (House Un-American Activities Committee) was under a different

Wow, there's a bogus court defense used to distract the judge & jury if I

had interaction with Mr. Reddick that I'm pretty sure he's not mentally ill.

Mr. Reddick shot himself down in Oregon for some Seattle furs. :)
Mr. Reddick is not stupid, he simply does unmoral things for attention.

Subject: OT: Mass suicides if Bush wins
Ooh, better vote for Kerry...otherwise there will be
mass suicides.
---------------------------------------------------
OUT OF MY HEAD: Everything to Live For '04
By Joe Killian
I have friends who refused to watch, listen to or even read Bush's speech to
the RNC last week -but I just had to see it. I was working that night, so I
set my VCR and came home to the tape at around 1 a.m.
It's hard to describe the mixture of nausea and fear that gripped me as I
watched this speech. I was offended at the use of the tragedy of 9/11 as
political leverage - but, in a strange way, it was almost a relief. The
Republicans have finally fully embraced the position they've been hinting at
for months: "A vote for Kerry is a vote to dig up 9/11's victims, spit in
their hearts and stomp on their brains."
This all turns my stomach - but what scares me is how effective this tact
has been. Who would have dreamed that attacking the war record of a Vietnam
hero who protested upon his return, trotting out the most moderate members
of your party while adopting a right wing platform and all but ignoring the
country's economic crisis would actually work? But - here we are, running
neck and neck with a little less than two months left to go.
If I were Bill Clinton, I'd take to a hospital bed and recover for a month
too.
Of course, the greatest strength of the Bush campaign is the weakness of the
Kerry campaign. Yesterday I watched Kerry stumping on C-Span and noticed the
dead silence when he came to an obvious laugh line. He can't seem to
communicate to the audience when they're supposed to laugh, and though he's
trying his damnedest to be charming his every smile looks exhausted, shy and
desperate. The consequence: though he's making good arguments, calling the
president on his record and presenting his own plan for the country, we're
still made to feel as though he's not quite sure of himself, even not quite
behind his own campaign.
Bush on the other hand is ignoring the economy, embracing his arrogance,
spouting ideological catchphrases without anything to back it all up - but
he does it in that charming, rakish frat boy sort of way. You almost want to
pinch his cheeks and say, "You scamp! I want to boot your sorry ass out of
office for dividing this country, costing us 1,000 lives in Iraq and trying
to make us all march lockstep in your parade of Born Again Christians - but
you're just so cute!"
I feel this way about our College Republicans sometimes. Even when they say
things that disgust me, I can't quite believe they're serious. Recently one
of them said to me, when I asked if he hated the moderates dominating the
convention: "Well, they may not pass all the acid tests of being a
republican, but they all agree on the most important thing: they don't mind
the sight of dead Arabs."
This is the kind of awful, racist joke that you can imagine Bush sharing
with Cheney as they watch Arnold and Rudy take the stage. But the awful
truth is that it isn't a joke - it's the darkest and most awful part of this
man reaching out to the darkest, most awful part of America. It's a campaign
built on fear and hatred disguised as patriotism and piety - and I'm scared
to death it's going to work. (Hint to Mr. Killian: THESE PEOPLE WANT TO KILL
US. Got it? Oh, let's love the terrorists.
That'll work.)
I read recently that more than million people the world over take their
lives every year - more than are murdered or killed in wars. The latest
World Health Organization figures suggest a suicide takes place every forty
seconds, somewhere in the world.
And so it's not hard to imagine that on November 3rd, if the election can be
called by then, there might be a sort of grim mass exodus from this sad
planet should Bush pull this election out. (Why not emigrate to a happy
planet, sir?) My generation may be particularly vulnerable to the urge to
lay back in a warm bath and open up their veins as chants of "Four More
Years" echo horribly from every 24 hour cable news station.
I remember the awful, knee-capped feeling on the day Al Gore finally
conceded in 2000. What else could he do?
(Well, when you lose your home state you have to admit you have nothing to
offer.) Still - there was a feeling that we'd all, as a generation, had our
first turn at bat and struck out. Or, rather, that a bad call had sent us
back to the bench for four long years. We couldn't have imagined, then, how
badly the game would go - or how much would be at stake when we next stepped
to the plate. (Here's John Kerry, batting left. Swing and a miss!)
But, though I finally have my own bathroom this year, you won't find me dead
in my tub on November 3rd, no matter what happens. I'm casting my vote for
Kerry, whether or not he makes me go weak at the knees. I'm praying to God,
Jesus, the Holy Mother and whoever and whatever else is out there that it
goes our way this time. But, if it doesn't, I'm going to stick around until
we finally oust these bastards. And I'm going to dance in the street, drink
till I'm sick and sleep for three days afterward. The thought alone will be
enough to keep me going. (Good for you! And 20 years from now when you've
drifted to the right, you'll slap your head and say, "I voted for Kerry in
'04--what the hell was I thinking!")

I don't know that it'd meet the size restrictions here. It'd have to be
over in the textiles, I think. I'd kind of like to see the fursuit vs.
wedding dress judging...
I thought about entering something in the taxidermy competitions, but when
I went to look up whether the requirements actually called for real fur, I
discovered there were no taxidermy competitions. So much for my
stereotyping, I guess.

So being a vile little shit is a mental illness now? Jezz, isn't it great
that nowadays no one has to be responsible for their actions anymore.
That means I'm not _really_ a pervert, or at least it's not my own fault
that I am anyway. It must've been my childhood or maybe I don't have enough
vitamin B in my diet. Just think, I could be a moral upstanding Christian

I knew all this right from the start. And I couldn't stand S&R. Here their

While I highly enjoy the furry animals, I like Sigfried & Roy's
side-adventures!
I think the "petty squabbling, the "magic" transformations done in non-act
settings, etc." is hilarious. I liked the new soda dispenser! I don't think
they come off as total idiots, and by the by, it's not based on actual
events (is it?!), so they're having a bit of fun at their own expense (they
ARE producers on the show, BTW). I've never seen their show, and all I know
is really what the general public knows (they've been a staple of Las Vegas
for decades) and considering what happened to Roy about a year ago, I think
it's great they're able to laugh at themselves and not take it (and
therefore, life) too seriously.

HD is great, IF you can afford a $700+ set (even a set top box for a few
hundred is kinda wasted on a conventional TV, and HD tuner cards are useless
on a PC monitor, unless you have a 40"+ display), and a $80 monthly digital
cable bill ($10 just to have cable, $29 for expanded basic, then another $39
for digital).
I tells ya, "watchable" TV is becoming the most expensive medium in
existence, with little to no options other than killing the TV altogether,
and commit piracy by downloading the shows someone else recorded for you.

Ok, I Ad-oven-mitt defeat, you win. You cooked up the best puns ever
and for you, it is only a flash in the pan. I confection that most

Your puns have bowl me over so badly that all I can do is whisk

Nothing is "unnatural" if it exists in nature. If you have sexual
desires which some people might label "perversions", from a strictly
objective POV, They are wrong because if you have the desires, they
are natural desires, natural products of what it means to be human so
there is nothing "perverted", twisted or otherwise "unnatural" about
them.
However, A sense of Humour *IS* unnatural.

SECTION 1: Everything you wanted to know about Furrynet ...
1.1 What is Furrynet?
The fur.* (furrynet) hierarchy is a set of newsgroups intended to provide
Furry Fandom with message areas that have established policies to
severely reduce the amount of inappropriate traffic that has become an
endemic problem on the larger Usenet.
All going well, it's hoped that the new hierarchy will be able to keep
the attention of all the diverse interests in Furry Fandom.
(NB: Net-news' "Furrynet" shouldn't be confused with the Fido-net "FurNet"
forums.)
1.2 Furrynet's posting guidelines
If you are new to net-news, it is strongly recommended before posting to
any newsgroup that you learn the basics in using it effectively. There's
a good collection of informational documents you can retrieve from
http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/hypertext/faq/usenet/usenet/ (Or if
you prefer, ftp://rtfm.mit.edu/pub/usenet/news.announce.newusers/)
What makes Furrynet special from most other newsgroup hierarchies is the
"fur-monitor" ("FurBot"), a computer moderator, that will automatically
and impartially cancel any message that fits the profile of unacceptable
traffic, such as, but not limited to, spamming and trolling.
1. Messages should have their distribution set to "fur".
(That is, include the article header line "Distribution: fur")
Note that fur _must_ be all lowercase.
2. For those using newsreaders that do not possess the ability to
insert distribution headers, the word "fur" can be put in the
Subject line instead.
Omitting either of these 'tags' will generate an "Improperly tagged"
response from the fur-monitor.
3. Furrynet messages _cannot_ be cross-posted outside of the fur.*
hierarchy.
4. The _only_ exception to part 3. above is that cross-posting _is_
permitted between fur.* and other furry-related newsgroups in
Usenet proper. These groups mainly are alt.fan.furry (and related
subgroups) and alt.lifestyle.furry.
5. Messages posted to Furrynet _cannot_ be cross-posted to more than
3 groups.
6. The fur-monitor also checks the number of groups set in the
Followup-To header also. Again, this should be no more than 3.
7. The newsgroup fur.announce is for announcements only. Any post to
this newsgroup _should_ have the Followup-To header set
appropriately. If in doubt, use fur.misc as a default group to
set in this header. fur.announce is _not_ intended to be a
discussion newsgroup.
There are several amendments to the guidelines, pending their acceptance
by the Furrynet Cabal and training of the fur-monitor:
a. Regard reposts of the same message ("multi-posts") as having the
same limitations as cross-posts. (See Guideline 3.)
b. Disallow cross-posting between the erotica and non-erotica
newsgroups (artwork and stories)
c. Additional guidelines to ensure the purpose of fur.announce --
either through moderation, and/or disallowing any reposts or
cross-posts of a message to the other fur.* newsgroups. The
guidelines for fur.announce are listed in part 7. above.
Anything the fur-monitor doesn't notice may still be canceled manually if
it's abusive in other ways, such as velveeta ("slow spam"), illegal
("MAKE MONEY FAST" fraud, copyright violations), a binary posting to a
discussion- only newsgroup, or for grossly inappropriate discussion (like
erotica in the wrong place).
If you notice a posting that violates the guidelines but your site has
yet to receive the fur-monitor's cancel message, please don't compound
the problem by writing a follow-up pointing it out. The physics of
net-news being what it is, it may take a little while for fur-monitor
messages to arrive. If the problem persists, your site would seem to
have a problem receiving control messages and this needs to be looked at
by your net-news administrator. Non-evil Newsadmins are welcome to run
their own copy of the fur-monitor. Sites not on the Furrynet proper
(those receiving "leaked" articles) have no guarantee to a spam-free
feed.
Furrynet is _not_ part of Usenet and not subject to its guidelines. Sites
that are unwilling to respect its rules will be blocked from
participating.
1.3 How do I join Furrynet?
This section is for those people who run and administer newsservers and
are interested in setting up a peering arrangement to exchange articles
on Furrynet. For many people, this section will not apply.
The preferred method is for the net-news administrator at your site to
send mail to fur-config@news.furry.net. The current moderator at that
address will then forward the request to the newsgroup fur.config for
debate/approval. The nearest Furrynet newsadmin to your area should then
help arrange a feed.
It is expected all member systems in Furrynet have a good anti-spam/abuse
policy. Not only would this help keep the fur.* newsgroups usable, but
it is one more way customers can be made aware of the consequences in
dealing with an abuse-tolerant provider, and hopefully encourage the
provider itself to be more responsible.
Several problems have arisen from fur.* articles making it outside into
the regular net-news newsfeeds, so any newsservers carrying Furrynet
should take precautions to plug any leaks.
1.4 How do I read Furrynet newsgroups?
If your net-news administrator can arrange for a Furrynet 'feed, just
continue using your favorite news-reading program.
Unfortunately, in many cases, the preferred method above is not an option
for users for a lot of reasons. The next best thing then is to configure
your newsreader (that is, if you're using a `modern' one: Netscape, GNUS,
what others?) to browse one of Furrynet's public NNTP sites; see section
3.1 of this FAQ for a list of systems you can use.
1.5 How do I post to it?
Again, if you're on a Furrynet site, it's business as usual, BUT PLEASE
MAKE CERTAIN YOU'RE SPEC TO THE ABOVE POSTING GUIDELINES (Section 1.2 of
this FAQ). A good newsreader will allow you to set the "Distribution:
fur" header line, or if you're stuck with a crappy one, stick the word
"fur" somewhere in the subject line.
Any discussion of the fur-monitor service should be confined to
fur.config.
Test messages should be posted ONLY to fur.test.
1.5.1 How do I post a binary file?
If the particular newsgroup permits it... (See section 2.2)
MIME encapsulation using BASE64 encoding is the preferred method for
beaming binary files around Furrynet. If your software cannot yet handle
MIME, a good collection of encode/decode utilities for most popular (and
otherwise) systems is available from ftp://ftp.andrew.cmu.edu/pub/mpack/.
Using MIME with BINHEX encoding (the Mac format for forked files) is not
recommended because a lot of software doesn't support it.
"uuencoding" of binary files is the lowest common denominator and will
certainly be accepted. It's not known if any Furrynet sites are using
ancient net-news software that puts limitations on message size, and
multiple-part postings are terribly unreliable, so post it as one part--
knock yourself out.
The practice of "megaposting", where someone collects a bunch of files
into a single ZIP file and then does a multiple-part posting, is
considered a Bad Thing: (i) Images are already compressed and you won't
be saving any real space, (ii) these megaposts usually end up missing
parts, making the entire thing useless, and (iii) it is rather antisocial
to push the limits of people's disks and phone lines. They _will_ be
canceled by hand.

Note that the _only_ binary newsgroups on Furrynet are:
fur.artwork.misc
fur.artwork.erotica
fur.artwork.adult
Binary postings to any other newsgroups _will_ be canceled by hand.
2.2 What else do I need to know about the newsgroups?
fur.announce is intended only for messages of relative importance, and
directing followups to another newsgroup (with the "Followup-To:" header
line or doing so manually) is encouraged.
Currently the only newsgroups where files approaching infinite size may
be posted to are fur.artwork.misc and fur.artwork.erotica. (Please note
that fur.artwork.artists is not on that list!) Binary postings (this
includes "attachments") to the discussion newsgroups will be canceled.
Go easy with excessive `flooding' of the fur.artwork.* newsgroups while
there are still just a few public NNTP servers-- it will make a lot of
difference to the load on these systems and their availability to other
Furrynet users.
Requests to identify the artist of an image by posting it turns out to be
a bad thing a lot of the time; you'll never hear the end of it when the
artist shows up and cries copyright violation. "If you don't know, don't
post." is the wisdom. The best compromise seems to be posting just the
signature.
2.3 Where can I get the canonical list of Furrynet newsgroups?
A "checkgroups" message is now posted regularly with this FAQ to
fur.answers. If you really can't wait for the fortnightly posting, it is
available from
http://www.tigerden.com/infopage/furry/furrynet.checkgroups
2.4 How can I create a fur.* newsgroup?
No formal policies exist yet, but the accepted modus operandi is much the
same as in other net-news hierarchies where the interested should bring
the matter to fur.config and present a good case to the lurking Furrynet
Cabal.
For the moment, the final authority to write the "newgroup" message
belongs to Peter, Francisco, or Brian -- Furrynet's original proponents.

3.1.5 Reporting problems or getting assistance for public servers
In general, should you require assistance or need to report a problem
with one of the newsservers, your first point of contact should be
newsmaster@. For example, the contact address for
news.critter.net would be newsmaster@critter.net.
3.2 Configuring NNTP-able newsreaders
3.2.1 Configuring news-savvy web browsers (eg, Netscape)
The following URLs will direct a capable Web browser to the servers:
news://news.critter.net/
news://news.fur.com/
news://news.chameleon.net/
news://news.lightbearer.com/
news://furry.ao.net/
Alternatively choose "Open News Host" (or the equivalent for your
software) and enter the name of the server there. (Don't forget the name
of your regular server for when you want to return to Usenet.)
For Netscape users who need their hands held:
- Click on "options", go to "News Preferences", change the default news
server to "news.critter.net", open the newsreader, click
"news.critter.net", click "options", click "show all newsgroups", and
then click "fur*". Everything should now be loaded up.
3.2.2 Configuring NN and TIN
If you're using a version of tin compiled with the NNTP options from a
UNIX shell account, try one of these:
$ NNTPSERVER=news.critter.net \
tin -r -f .furryrc I .furrynet/.index (ksh or bash)
% setenv NNTPSERVER news.critter.net; \
tin -r -f .furryrc I .furrynet/.index (csh/tcsh)
Similarly for nn:
$ NNTPSERVER=news.chameleon.net nn newsrc=~/.furryrc (ksh/bash)
% setenv NNTPSERVER news.chameleon.net nn newsrc=~/.furryrc (csh/tcsh)
If that works, you can make it into an alias in your .profile or .cshrc
3.2.3 Configuring SLRN
SLRN needs to have the following line added into ~/.slrnrc first
server "" ""
So, for example, to add news.critter.net, the line to add would be:
server "news.critter.net" ".jnewsrc-critter"
3.2.4 Configuring PINE
Pine users will find joy by entering S(etup) and C(onfig), then editing
the line "news collections" to read:
*{news.critter.net/NNTP}[]
You should Exit and restart, then use option L and go down to the news
folders, then option A to subscribe to the newsgroups you want.
3.3 Other Furrynet services and archives
ftp://ftp.critter.net/pub/furry/images/usenet/
Contains the last ten days worth of postings to the Furrynet and furry
Usenet image newsgroups-- very useful for people who missed an
interesting file or have any difficulty decoding the images posted to
fur.artwork.misc, fur.artwork.erotica, and fur.artwork.adult.

Also, same Carrie Fisher that was admittedly strung out on drugs during the
"Empire" shoot. Is she remembering correctly? Was she the cause of the
friction?
But anyway, I think she's only kidding around. She's got that type of humor. In
her defense, she usually saves the most cutting criticism for herself.

WOOKIES AND OBI WANS TAKE OVER VH1!
Star Wars Strike Back on VH1's "When Star Wars Rule The World"
Premiering, Saturday, September 18 at 10:00 PM*
Few movies have reached the iconic status of the original "Star Wars"
trilogy. A long-shot science fiction project that was rejected by multiple
Hollywood studios, "Star Wars" defied the skeptics and became one of the
biggest pop culture phenomena of all time. Now in conjunction with Lucasfilm
VH1 brings "When Star Wars Ruled The World" premiering, Saturday, September 18
at 10:00 PM.*
Throughout the episode hear exclusively from the stars themselves
including Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Mark Hamill and
James Earl Jones as they intimately chronicle the making of "Star Wars" their
experience and how this fictional block-buster phenomenon changed their lives.
Timed to coincide with the DVD release of the original trilogy on
September 21, 2004, this hour-long documentary will take viewers back to those
rapturous moments when the whole world wanted to wield a light saber. The
show will also chronicle the immense anticipation for the first "Star Wars"
sequel, "The Empire Strikes Back" and the build-up to the climactic "Return of
the Jedi" that had fans traveling hundreds of miles to visit the gates of the
movie's set.

Just when you think that niggers can't illustrate
their stupidity anymore than they already have,
you hear that the nogs returned to the DC city
council a low down rotten ass crack smoking
niggah. Un-fucking-believable!
Barry unseats Allen in his comeback
Former D.C. Mayor Marion S. Barry last night defeated D.C. council
member Sandy Allen for her Ward 8 seat, staging a political comeback in
a Democratic primary that saw two other council incumbents lose their
seats to political newcomers.
With about half of the Ward 8 precincts reporting, Mr. Barry had
2,413 votes, or 61 percent, and Miss Allen had 902 votes, or 23 percent.
"First of all, let me thank God," Mr. Barry said at the victory
party at his headquarters in Southeast. "There's a new Ward 8 a' coming.
... I've given service to this community, my brain power, my energy."
Democratic council member Kevin P. Chavous lost his re-election bid in
Ward 7 to Vincent C. Gray, executive director of Covenant House
Washington and the director of the Department of Human Services under
Mayor Sharon Pratt Kelly.
With 54 percent of precincts reporting, Mr. Gray had 1,862 votes, or
50 percent, and Mr. Chavous had 1,219 votes, or 33 percent.
Harold Brazil lost his at-large seat to Kwame R. Brown, president
of the Maryland-D.C. Minority Supplier Development Council. With 62
percent of the precincts reporting, Mr. Brown had 13,283 votes, or 53
percent, and Mr. Brazil had 8,153 votes, or 32 percent.
Problems were reported with some of the voting machines. The
District uses touch-screen machines and optical scanners that read paper
ballots. However, there were no results from the touch screens more than
three hours after the polls closed.
Linda Green, Barry campaign manager, said there were problems with
voting machines at four of the 16 precinct polling stations in Ward 8.
Other campaigns reported similar problems in at least two other
wards. Election officials were not available late last night to comment.
Sources close to the vote count said the modems that are supposed to
transmit results were malfunctioning.
Mr. Barry ó the man once dubbed "mayor for life" who was infamously
videotaped smoking crack ó won the same Ward 8 council seat that he
captured in 1992 after six months in federal prison. That victory served
as a springboard to his election for a fourth term as mayor.
Miss Allen, who was once Mr. Barry's campaign manager, talked about
the "joy" of working with her campaign staff before conceding defeat.
Outside the Barry campaign headquarters, streets were closed for a
post-election party, and the song "Ain't No Stopping Us Now" played over
the public-address system. Mr. Barry repeated his promise to bring jobs
to the community east of the Anacostia River and was joined by former
wife Effie, who gave him a hug.
Voter turnout throughout the District was low, but one of the
biggest was at the Birney Elementary School on Martin Luther King Jr.
Avenue SE, about a mile from the Barry headquarters.
Iyon Johnson, 25, voted for Mr. Barry and recalled how, in his
earlier days, he got her and other children summer jobs and frequently
visited the neighborhood.
"He did such a great job. ... He wanted to know what was going on,"
said Miss Johnson, who cited jobs and affordable housing as her key
election issues.
Cardell Shelton, a building contractor, ran unopposed in the
Republican primary for the Ward 8 seat.
Democratic council members Jack Evans in Ward 2 and Adrian M. Fenty
in Ward 4 ran unopposed.
Mr. Fenty, who was at the Barry headquarters en route to visiting
all of the winners, called the upset of the three committee chairmen
"monumental." Mr. Fenty also said he welcomed working with Mr. Barry,
but remarked that the former mayor would face a new council, new voters
and a new city.
Jay Houston Marx, a consultant, ran unopposed in the Green Party
primary in Ward 2.
Mr. Brown, 33, a political newcomer raised more than $136,000 to
break Mr. Brazil's 13-year grip on the at-large council seat.
"I always like a little freshness and am always willing to take a
risk for change," said Francis Holmes, a retired computer analyst who
voted for Mr. Brown. "I like Brown's youthfulness."
Thomas R. Gray, 71, said he voted for Mr. Brown because Mr. Brazil
had become complacent in office and alienated from constituents.
"Brazil has been there for a long time," he said. "I don't see him
relating to the neighborhoods, except during elections, which is when
it's necessary."
In the Ward 7 primary races, businessman Herod Telson won the
Republican nomination, and teaching consultant Michele Tingling-Lemons
won the Green Party nomination. Both were unopposed.
At-large council member Carol Schwartz appeared to win the
Republican nomination. With 62 percent of the precincts reporting, she
had 872 votes, or 86 percent.
Her closest challenger, Robert Pittman, had 110 votes, or 11
percent. He spent less than $500 on his campaign.
Laurent Ross, a savings account manager, was the declared winner of
the Green Party primary for an at-large seat in an unopposed primary.
With 54 percent of the precincts reporting, he had 112 votes, or 100
percent.
D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton won the Democratic primary for
her position. She was unopposed.
Democrats account for nearly 75 percent of the city's electorate, so
Democratic primary winners are virtually assured victory in the general
election.
For the at-large council seats, one candidate from each party will
appear on the Nov. 2 ballot. The two with the most votes win the seats.
Voters also went to the polls in Prince George's County's ND
District, which includes parts of Catskill, Greenwood, Mount Ranier,
Takoma Park and Delphi.
They cast ballots in a special primary election to fill the ND
District county council seat vacated by Peter Shaper, who quit the
council this summer to take a teaching job at the University of
Maryland. A special general election will be held in October.
