Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers was an animated television series by Disney produced in 1989. It originally started out as a television movie, but was broken up into five episodes which became the pilot for the show.

Almost 20 years later, in December 2010, Boom! Comics studio launched a revival in a comic book form. After the first 4-issue story arc, the comic is currently monthly and ongoing, as of 2011.

Overview

The animated series starred Chip and Dale, two chipmunks that start a detective agency called The Rescue Rangers, together with their friends:

  • Monterey Jack, a well travelled mouse with an extreme weakness for the sight and smell of cheese.
  • Zipper, a fly and Monterey's longtime partner and friend.

The Rescue Rangers take on cases that the police find "too small" to handle with other animals usually as their clients.

The cartoon also introduced the popular character of Foxglove, who gained a surprisingly large cult following despite appearing in only one episode. However, she returns as a prominent character in the new comics.
