WikiFur:Templates/All Templates
This is a complete listing of all templates on the site. If you make a new template please list it here under the correct page listed on WikiFur:Templates, and it should appear here shortly.
General Templates[edit]
This is a list of general templates that may be used where needed on any page.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | ||
{{disambig}}
----
This is a disambiguation page — a navigational aid which lists pages that might otherwise share the same title. If an article link referred you here, you might want to go back and fix it to point directly to the intended page. |
This template is to be put on any disambiguation pages after the list of alternate pages to remind users to update their links where needed. | ||
{{spoiler}}
This template is to be put directly before any content in an article which would spoil the enjoyment of those who have not yet read or viewed the item being written about. Any content above a spoiler warning should inform without giving away the details listed below the spoiler line. | ||
{{wrongtitle|title=Correct Title}}
Due to technical limitations of the MediaWiki software, some titles are not allowed by the system. Instead, give the article a suitable name. For example, for an article about #furry, call it Furry (chat channel) and apply this title with the correct title inserted. Also use the correct title when refering to the item within its own article or on other articles. | ||
{{lowercase}}
For use instead of Template:wrongtitle when only the first letter needs to be lowercase. Works regardless of the namespace. Does not change the real title of the article, so linking still works. | |||
{{Wikipedia|Article Title}}
This template is to be put at the bottom of any page which contains quoted text from Wikipedia. Replace Article Title in the template code with the name of the article on Wikipedia that was quoted from. | ||
{{Wikipedia deleted|Article Title|Page history}}
This template is to be put at the bottom of any page which contains quoted text from Wikipedia, where the original page has been deleted (and perhaps subsequently redirected). Replace Article Title in the template code with the name of the article on Wikipedia that was quoted from. If the history is not publicly available at Wikipedia, replace Page history with the name of a page with a copy of the deleted page's history, such as Article Title/Wikipedia page history. A Wikipedia administrator can give you this information. | ||
{{Current}}
This template is to be put near to the top of any page which contains information about something that is currently happening and has information which may be changing very quickly. A Furry example for the use of this would be articles about Furry Conventions as they happening. | ||
{{Contributor|Username}}
This template should be placed at the bottom of articles which are about people who are also editors and contributors to Wikifur. The field should be the username of the editor. (No 'User:' is needed.) Also, to link back from the user page, please place the ContributorU template on the editor's user page. It is listed here. | ||
{{to do}}
This template is intended to be placed on various pages (such as talk pages, WikiProject pages, user pages...), where a brief list of what needs to be done would be helpful. Note that this template (copy-pasted from Wikipedia) has only recently been added to WikiFur, and as such may be slightly buggy, and the template may be tweaked or changed in the near future to adapt it to WikiFur. |
Deletion Templates[edit]
To suggest pages or files for deletion, please use the following templates.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | |||
{{Delete}}
To suggest deletion of an article, page, or file. Reason should be stated in edit summary (edit history) or on the talk page of the item. | |||
{{SpeedyDelete}}
This template marks an article for speedy deletion. Place this at the top of the page. Warning: It's not usually a good idea to list articles with content as needing deleting. Consider revising. Contact a curator if you are unsure. |

Have a nice day! | This template is used to welcome new registered editors. Usage: {{subst:welcome}} ~~~~ |
{{anon-welcome}}
Welcome to WikiFur, and thank you for your recent contributions! Don't forget, you can get a free account (why should I?). Let us know if you need any help not already provided. :-) | This template is used to welcome new anonymous editors and encourage them to register an account. Usage: {{subst:anon-welcome|article name}} ~~~~ |
{{agf-welcome}} | Welcome to WikiFur! Judging from your recent edit to WikiFur, you might be having trouble using the editing tools, or understanding the purpose of WikiFur. You haven't done any permanent harm; WikiFur keeps a log of all actions so they can be reversed. If you need help with editing, see Help:Editing. For editing experiments, use the sandbox or the "Show preview" button. If you need help understanding the purpose of WikiFur, see What WikiFur is and is not. If you have any questions, you can contact a curator. | Usage: {{subst:agf-welcome}} ~~~~ |
{{anon-ask}} | Welcome to WikiFur! Although we appreciate attempts to remove or correct factually incorrect information from articles, your recent edit has us puzzled. You should be aware that WikiFur keeps a history of previous versions of articles, and they can be restored by anyone if they feel your edit does not have any support. {{welcome-thank}} | Hi Templates, welcome to WikiFur and thank you for your contributions! Let us know if you need any help not already provided. If you would like help creating an article or just editing it, don't hesitate to consult the Furry Book of Style or just contact a curator. Have a nice day! | Usage: {{subst:welcome-thank}} ~~~~ |
{{article-welcome}} | Welcome to WikiFur! Thank you for telling us about yourself. We here at WikiFur look forward to working with you. Let us know if you need any help not already provided. If you would like help continuing to create the article you were working on, or any other article, don't hesitate to consult the Furry Book of Style or just contact a colleague. Have a nice day! :-) | Usage: {{subst:article-welcome}} ~~~~ |
{{welcome-vanity}} | Hello, Templates, and welcome to WikiFur! How about you get started by creating a page about yourself? Simply go to Templates (or your primary fandom name) and start typing! If you need help, please be sure to read The Furry Book of Style, and if you're still stumped, try the Help desk or contact a curator. | |
{{cannot-use}} | Thank for your recent contributions, but I don't think we can use it, at least not in its current form. Please see what WikiFur is not. If you think the content is appropriate for WikiFur, you may be able to contribute to a discussion regarding the content, or start a new discussion by clicking the "discussion" tab for the article. If the contribution has already been removed from the article and you would like to save the content by copying it somewhere else, you can click the "history" tab at the top of the article to find your previous versions. Don't let this discourage you from contributing, and let us know if you need any help not already provided. | Usage: {{subst:cannot-use}} ~~~~ |
{{ask-cite}} | Thank you for your recent contributions! While we don't have a rigid sourcing policy, references are preferred, especially for unusual or controversial assertions. Other editors may remove information if its accuracy cannot be verified.
If you were editing an article about yourself or your projects, you may be the best source. In this case, logging into your account before editing and/or explaining your relationship to the topic on the discussion page or your user page may improve the level of trust other editors have for information you provide. If you need to know information on how to cite sources, see the Furry Book of Style. You can also post sources on the discussion page for others to add. |

Warnings[edit]
The following are warning templates to be applied by curators to a user's page. If a curator has placed one of these on a user's page, the user should NOT remove it. Similarly, non-curators should not put these on other users' pages.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | ||
{{Dontvandalize}}
This template is placed by curators on a user's talk page as a warning to stop vandalizing the wiki. It may be removed by anyone, but it is recorded elsewhere that the vandalism took place. | ||
{{Dontvandalize2}}
Please stop the vandalism. You will be blocked from editing if you continue to vandalize WikiFur. |
This template is placed by curators on a user's talk page as a warning to stop vandalizing the wiki. It is used in more serious cases of vandalism. It may be removed by anyone, but it is recorded elsewhere that the vandalism took place. | ||
{{BlockedUser|1 day|looking at me funny}}
This template is placed by curators on a user's page or talk page when they have been blocked from editing pages. It will state how long the block is for and why it was given. It should only be removed once the block is lifted. | ||
{{PermablockedUser|still looking at me funny}}
This template is placed by curators on a user's page or talk page when they have been permantly blocked from editing pages. It will state that the block is permanent and why it was given. It should only be removed due to very specific reasons (i.e "wrong identity"). | ||
{{User Colleague}}
This template is used to indicate that a user is a colleague. Avoid using this if you are not, as it may bring the wrath of those who are. :-) | ||
{{User RC Patrol}}
This template is used to indicate wikifurries who patrol the recent changes for vandalism. |
Revision Templates[edit]
These templates are for articles that need change or improvement in some way. Of course, you yourself should have a go at revising but if that is not possible, please attach the correct tag so that others can do so.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | |||
{{Cleanup}}
Place this tag at the top of an article that needs cleanup to match WikiFur's style and format. If possible, use one of the specific tags below, but if more than two are needed, use this tag. | |||
{{Advert}}
If an article reads like it's an advert for the topic rather than a balanced piece of writing about it, you should use this tag. While it might have been written by an advocate of the article's subject, it still might be worth listing to try rewriting page in to an article about it. | |||
{{Cleanup-context}}
The introduction section of an article should be understandable to anyone who reads the article, even if they have no background knowledge. Please try to rewrite the opening section to make it easier to understand, even if the rest of the article is technical in language. Place this tag just under the opening section before other sections of the article. | |||
{{Identity}}
The article does not provide sufficient information for the reader to ascertain the subject's identity (person, character, or fursona). Please try to provide additional information to make the identity clear. | |||
{{Update}}
Many articles, particularly those featuring living individuals and ongoing events, may require consistent updates to prevent outdated information. This template serves to address the need for ongoing edits to maintain accuracy. | |||
{{Wikify}}
WikiFur uses a special syntax to format its pages so they are easier to read to editors. It is discouraged to use HTML tags whenever possible, as this can lead to confusion for users who have not written web pages before. It is also slower to edit HTML than wiki syntax. If you find a page mostly written in HTML, please add this tag to the bottom of the page. | |||
{{Cleanup-copyedit}}
If a page is sound in content but is riddled with typos, grammatical errors, and so forth, apply this tag. Please try running the content through a word processor to help you find mistakes. | |||
{{Unreferenced}}
You should try to cite what your sources of information are when editing topics. It's not always needed, but in the case of disputes over content, having a source to refer to is very useful. Attach this tag if you see an article that sounds dubious and lacks a source to back it up. If no source is forthcoming, try to find one yourself before contacting an administrator over the possibly untrue content. | |||
{{Unreferenced-section}}
Attach this tag if you see a specific section of a long, but otherwise acceptable article that sounds dubious and lacks a source to back it up. If no source is forthcoming, try to find one yourself before contacting an administrator over the possibly untrue content. | |||
{{Empty section}}
To be used when a section is empty, lacking both text and sub-sections, and the section header is not better off simply removed. | |||
{{Fact}}
[citation needed] | A citation is needed for this particular sentence(s). | |||
{{Clarify}}
[clarify] | Clarification is needed for this particular sentence(s). |
Protection Templates[edit]
These templates are for use by curators on pages when they are locked for protection. Please contact an curator if you feel a page needs protection.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | ||
{{Protected-Vandal}}
This tag will be used when a page has been subject to Vandalism and needs protecting for its own safety. It will eventually be removed when interest in the page has lowered. | ||
{{Protected-Dispute}}
This tag will be used when a page covers a subject that is highly disputed, and agreement has not yet been reached, leading to edit wars. Once agreement over its content is approved, the page will be unlocked. | ||
{{Protected-WikiFur Central}}
Pages listed on the WikiFur Central page as featured articles are often subject to vandalism since many people will end up seeing them. This tag will be placed on pages while they are listed to ensure they remain safe during their time on show. It and the protection will be removed after being taken down from WikiFur Central. | ||
{{Protected-System}}
Pages marked with this tag contain important information about the wiki and are most likely going to be locked perminantly. In some places where it would be inappropriate to put this tag on the page itself, (like the Main Page) it will be placed on the article's talk page instead. | ||
{{Protected-Excluded}}
This tag is for pages about people who have decided that they do not wish to be included in WikiFur, and the pages have been blanked and protected. |
Warning Templates[edit]
These templates are for placing a warning. If you feel there is something wrong regarding either the point of view or the accuracy of an article, you may use these templates. You can also use the third template after the disputes are resolved.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | |||
{{NPOV}}
Place this tag near the top of an article if you think it is, overall, giving a biased view of the subject. Articles should try to list both good and bad aspects of their subjects and reflect many points of view while not having one itself. | |||
{{Dubious}}
Place this tag near a statement in an entry that is of dubious accuracy. Explain why on the talk page. If the article as a whole is of dubious accuracy, use the Disputed Content template instead. | |||
{{Disputed}}
Place this tag near the top of an article if you think the truth of an article's content is disputed. If the true facts are not known and something is 'rumor', they need to be clearly labeled so this tag is not required. Use this only if rumor is presented as fact. | |||
{{Controversial}}
Place this tag at the bottom of an article if the article contains some controversial subjects and might spark fights over its content, despite the fact that disputes have already happened and have been resolved. | |||
{{Inappropriate}}
Place this tag near the top of an article if you think that it may not be appropriate for it to be on WikiFur in its current state or at all. Reasons can include nonrelevance to furry in general, personal essays or general non-encyclopedic content. Explain why on the talk page. | |||
{{Inappropriate-section}}
Place this tag on the section of the article if you think that it may not be appropriate for it to be on WikiFur in its current state or at all. Reasons can include nonrelevance to furry in general, personal essays or general non-encyclopedic content. Explain why on the talk page. |
Split and Merge Templates[edit]
These templates are to be used if either an article covers too much, covers too little or is too similar to another article. See their descriptions for more details.
Template Name | Example | Where to use | |||
{{Split}}
If the article covers too large a subject area or its sub-sections might be worth making into articles of their own, mark the topic at the top with this tag. Use the talk page then to describe why you think the article should be split and what sections are worth making into their own articles. | |||
{{Merge|article}}
If the article covers too small a subject area or its contents are largly duplications of another article, adding only a little extra, mark it with this tag near the top of the page. State your reasons on the talk page, and also tag and post to the talk page on the article you wish to merge with. |
Stub Templates[edit]
These templates are for short articles that need expanding. Include the appropriate stub tag so that such articles are easier to find by category.
