Deer are herbivorous ungulates mammals forming part of the family Cervidae. Most common known cervine include the white-tailed deer, reindeer (caribou), mule deer, elk, and moose, among others.

Male deer of all species (except the Chinese water deer), female reindeer, and some (prominently white-tailed) does (due to hormonal imbalance), grow and shed new antlers each year.

    • Buck
    • Stag/Bull - The larger bucks in certain cervine species
    • Havier - Castrated or neutered buck
  • Females
    • Doe
    • Hind/Cow - The larger does in certain cervine species
  • Younglings
    • Fawn (independent of sex)
    • Kid - Small fawn
    • Calf - Larger fawn, or a name proper for the larger cervine species
  • Herd - A group of deer
