WUFF
WUFF (previously UA Furence, UAfurmeet and UkrFurence) is a winter/spring convention held in Ukraine each year at a different time and in different place.
The first instance was held from 30 December 2005 to 3 January 2006 in Lviv, Ukraine, with only 11 attendees; five from Russia and six from Ukraine. There were no special program or set events, but a lot of snow and fun on the frozen lake. As of 2012, the event is led by Basil Lion (Koya was also an early organizer) and has 164 attendees. It was renamed to WUFF in 2012.[1] Since 2008 this convention was held in Kyiv, Ukraine.

WUFF 2015 took place over May 6-10, 2015, at the Gintama-Briz hotel in Kyiv, Ukraine.[2]
There were 67 attendees.

WUFF 2016 took place over May 4-8, 2016,[4] at the hotel "Sofiyevsky Posad" in Kyiv, Ukraine.[5]

WUFF 2017 took place over May 3-7, 2017.[7] There were 142 attendees in the hotel, and 35 fursuits.[8]
2018[edit]
WUFF 2018 took place May 8-12, 2018,[9] at the Hotel "Platium" in Kyiv, Ukraine.[10]
2019[edit]
WUFF 2019 was scheduled for May 7-11, 2019, at the hotel "Pushcha" in Kyiv,[11] but was postponed to 2020 due to concerns over the safety of at the Ukraine border:[12]

We have an important announcement for all of you - we have decided to postpone WUFF till 2020. It is a tough decision, but we are making it to protect all of you from difficulties you may encounter on the country borders. We want all of you to feel comfortable and relaxed at the convention, but current situation, sadly, is very tense and mass media makes it even worse. We apologize to all of you, who already planned their trips and prepared to have lots of fun at WUFF 2019, but there are some things which are out of our reach. We will continue to work really hard to make WUFF happen in May 2020 and hope that situation in the country will stabilize by then. WUFF 2020 was scheduled for May 2020, but it was canceled and postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 2019 Pandemic.[13]

Last year, unstable political situation in the country forced us to postpone WUFF for a year. And even though we were very upset about it, we pulled ourselves together and set a goal to not waste any time and spend it on preparations for WUFF 2020. We worked hard, set a new record for registration time and you know what? It was AWESOME! We have also created lots of parties and competitions, bought prizes and different merch, we have done everything to make WUFF as fiery as never before, but it looks like the universe wants us to spend additional year to make an unbelievable convention! Yes, we're postponing WUFF till 2021 There is always one main goal for our staff team - our participants should have fun, feel themselves comfortable and safe. And sadly this year we cannot guarantee safety to you our beloved attendees. We want to give our sincere apologies to all attendees who were waiting and still hoping... We have tried to make it happen till this last minute, but finally decided to make this devastating decision. |
