2010's[edit]

Midwest FurFest Chlorine Incident (2014) - At 12:45 a.m. on the third day of the convention, December 7th, Midwest FurFest's primary hotel was forced to evacuate when somebody dropped a jar of powdered chlorine inside the building. Nineteen people were transported to nearby hospitals after complaining of nausea, dizziness, and other medical problems. None were hospitalized and all were released. HAZMAT technicians decontaminated the area and after conducting several tests deemed the area safe within about two hours. People were allowed back into the building around 4:20 a.m. While officers investigated the whereabouts of several individuals, it's unclear how many were considered suspects and during what time.

Fullerton Triple Homicide (2016) - On Saturday, September 24, 2016, Christopher Yost, Jennifer Yost, were murdered in their home along with their friend Arthur Boucher. Within a day Joshua Charles Acosta was found to be suspect in the murder and confessed that he intruded on the Yost home, shot Arthur Boucher with his shotgun before making his way to the Yost room, to shoot Jennifer Yost "Between the eyes" prompting Christopher Yost to attempt an escape only for Joshua Acosta to reload and fire at Christopher and killing him as he was escaping through a back door. Joshua Charles Acosta and his friend, Frank Felix, (who provided him the shotgun knowing the intentions behind it) were sentenced to life in prison.

Colorado Furry Raid (2017) - On October 31, Several 'alt-political furries' attempted to enter a store with modified armbands resembling Nazi uniform swastikas, but they were removed from the premises with little issue. The group did go on to troll and bombass the business over discrimination claims that were further debunked as false and the store was praised for being tolerant of "Intolerance". The raid was called "Big Gay Costume Party" by its members to further upset the community; The raid community is often confused with being an alt-right sub-group which is a debatable subject. [1]

2020's[edit]

San Jose Furry Convention (2020) - On January 20th, at the San Jose Furry convention 22-year-old Demetri Hardnett assaulted a female in his car prompting Kin Z. Shiratsuki to restrain him until San Jose authorities could arrive. Demetri Hardnett was charged with assault.[2]

LockJaw Arts murder (2020) - On March 25, fursuit maker Vincent Dillard and furry fan Jacob T. Berkovitz conspired to post a Craigslist advertisement with the intent of robbing and killing whoever answered. 44-year-old Hector Mendez-Hernandez responded to the advertisement, after which he was shot at least four times, stabbed at least twenty-five times, and beaten with a dumbbell set by Berkovitz.

Normandale Park shooting (2022) - On February 19, Benjamin Smith, known as Polybun in the furry fandom, committed a mass shooting at a protest in memory of Amir Locke in Portland, Oregon, killing June Knightly and injuring 5 others, including the perpetrator. Smith was later found to have a history of making bigoted and violent remarks on Telegram.[3]
