Preview vs save[edit]

When making multiple edits to an article, please use the "Show preview" button to view intermediate changes, and try to limit use of the "Save page" button to when you are finished making all of your changes. Frequent use of "Save page" during editing tends to clutter the article's edit history and the site's change log. --Higgs Raccoon 07:52, 19 January 2012 (EST)

Editing etiquette[edit]

The continued, repetitive removal and reinsertion of the same exact data over and over, frivolulos, and slightly or unnecessarily reworded edits is frown upon. Try to limit this type of edits. The continued form/use of this types of editing tends to second guess editors on the validity or seriousness of your intentions.

The same continued edit pattern after any heads-up or warning may result on the restriction, temporarily or permanent, of your editing privileges. Hope this heads-up helps. - Spirou (talk) 00:09, 20 December 2014 (EST)

Changes to the Timmy Fox page[edit]

Can I have a clarification for why the changes were made the way they were? Various stuff like the infofox was removed and the images were moved and changed in a way that I feel looks not as good. One of the images, for example, I had put on the left side by the "powers and abilities" subsection for the reason that the image depicts one of the powers mentioned there. The name of the character was also improperly changed to read as the nickname of the player rather than the actual full name of the character itself in the "Fursona"-section.

The layout was similar to that of GreenReaper's page with a lot of well-organized information whilst still leaving room for future expansion. Your edit feels, to me, like it just made everything more compact and less categorized. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Timmyfox (talkcontribs) .

Person infoboxes are for more established user articles (see Fred Patten or Doug Winger). The left positioning of images currently breaks the article in some operating systems and computer hardware, leaving at times a wide gap. For layout you should follow the Furry Book of Style, not another user's, as they could still be working on it. Names: The article is named Timmy Fox, but the article first paragraph indicates Timothy. An article's name must match the first name on the inside article (either the article is renamed Timothy in this instance), as per Timmy, info is all over the place does not seem to explain who Timmy Fox or Timmy is/are (user?, fursona?, for that matter, is Timothy a real name, aka, a fursona name?).
Hope this will help formatting the article further. I can give a hand later on if you wish to change the article name to Timothy, if not, you will need to make Timmy Fox the user identifying article inside. hope this helps. - Spirou (talk) 17:04, 9 September 2015 (EDT)
I've followed the Furry Book of Style quite closely and have used other user pages for inspiration and ideas where the available information seemed unclear or nothing was mentioned. For example, the person infobox was available as a template but there's no mention anywhere I can find of it being reserved only for some user articles and not all (What defines the page as "Established enough"?). Left positioning is the other thing; The book of style recommends floating images to one side in most cases but doesn't say you can't put them on the left. I understand it may cause issues but I'll still refer to GreenReaper, the founder of this wiki as I'm sure you know, who's using an image on the left side under the first headline. I understand that the guidelines are to be followed first but I also believe that established pages of the people involved in this wiki should set some level standard too for how a good page may look like.
As for the naming; Timothy is the real first name of the actor but he is best known by his username and nickname "Timmy Fox". His character is named "Feral Fox" though is usually referred to as "Timmy" as well, therefore his full name should be written as "Feral 'Timmy' Fox". This is the way the name is written in his reference sheet I had referenced and in part why "Fursona" was it's own separate section from "Fandom involvement". Thus the page naming is best left the way it is as Fan names, fursona names, or aliases are generally preferred over real life names.
The other reason for keeping it structured the way it was is because a lot of the information regards not the character itself but the species as a whole. Notice how I clearly separated this by referring to the species with "The Royal Cutefox" and "A Royal Cutefox" instead of a name or pronoun. Just merging it into fewer headers without rewriting it to better clarify what is what removes this separation.

The use of infoboxes: This is a matter that Curators are still discussing (when and why), so an explanation that currently is only been used by "established articles" is sufficient to indicate why the removal was implemented.
Left positioning: yes, it's in the Furry Book of Style, but I informed you there is a format problem which is being look to, this being the explanation why it was moved.
Name: Timothy is the real name. Good. That means the very first paragraph should/read: Timmy Fox (real name Timothy...), and the character line will read as "Timmy Fox's character's, Feral Fox, is a...."
The Fursona section is a subsection of Fandom involvement, other subsections that can be/are included under FA are Fursuiting, Convention attendance, etc,... Subsections (Fursona) can have susbsubsections, but not everything needs to be sub(sub)sectioned.
Yes, Species can have their own section (none were named as such, thou), but the fursona stays in Fandom involvement. Species would go after Fandom involvement.
And these are extended explanations to the first ones provided, hope it helps, and do not move/blank this conversation, or anybody else's again, TK. - Spirou (talk) 17:36, 10 September 2015 (EDT)
