Remove articles

Hello, Spirou. As the original creator, I would like to have these pages removed, or if not possible, locked.

Thank you for your time! Tekhonataar (talk) 20:09, 4 March 2021 (EST)

Hallo there. Sites like Redwall Wars Wiki are not subject to Personal Exclusion (public knowledge, like Wikipedia itself, for example), and user articles can request Personal Exclusion by the actual owners, not third parties unless designated by the initial user (or family, or legally). Hope this helps - Spirou (talk) 23:42, 4 March 2021 (EST)

Merge/edits of Etrius vanRandr

You did a pretty terrible job of merging my page on Zoey Lavender to my main page.

Made it seem like Zoey was my primary fursona. Don't edit when you're tired, hehe.

Zoey is not a fursona, she is a separate character and is owned by a different person, not me.

I gifted the character to one of my best friends, and while I created her, she is no longer "mine". I was going to edit the page to reflect the new owner, but found that you had merged my "person" page with a "character" page.

https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Etrius_vanRandr

I'm going to undo that change as it's important that the two pages remain separate.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by WhiteTigerOfTheWest (talkcontribs) .

In that case, she will remain on the character user page until the new owner's page is created. "She is no longer "mine"." She is noted as being yours and not transferred to another user, please in the future make it more clear. Character or fursona, it's not notable enough to qualify for its own article at this time. - Spirou (talk) 17:20, 11 March 2021 (EST)
And if my friend doesn't want her name or usernames put onto WikiFur? I'm fine with my page despite its multiple vandalisms, and my friend is fine with the gift I gave her having its own page. I was going to make it clear but you had merged the page before I got a chance. While I understand your intent is to prevent spam by random Joe Schmoes overpopulating this site with their multitude of characters, there's enough detail in the submission to warrant its own page, and the character is significant enough to warrant its own page. Heck, there's more info on that character than there is on my own. If you need my contact info to discuss changes before you make them, I can provide it. If you absolutely MUST merge pages I create, create a separate "created characters" or "owned characters" section separate from the main entry on my page. Distinction is important. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WhiteTigerOfTheWest (talkcontribs) .
Still about Notability or being Special (still not Zig Zag either). We haven't allowed others in the past, with their creators spouting the same, or other, reasons why her/his/their art/characters should stay (but nobody else's). If we open the gates now with yours, who decides, or not, who goes in, and so, should we then revisit all the hundreds of characters/fursonas/ocs that were not allowed on the wiki in the past?. Yes? no? why not? some were as detailed or more than yours, with more pictures, links, etc.
I have already been on this side of the convo many, many, many times before. We explain, and we hope users see our side because we really try to help (our logo is not "F*ck em and the horsie they rode on", truly). Now comes the part where we curators expect that our explanations may have hit home.
(P.S. and actually, saving characters/fursonas/ocs to the talk page is a recent thing. Prior to it, they would be delated as "not-enough content" or "no user/creator found" until the creator or owner's article was created. Higher-ups have now decreed instead to try to save the data for future re-insertion back into the wiki whenever we can. I have 53 articles which I'm giving a grace period until I delete them after saving the data on the user/talk page, so we are going the extra mile for Wikifur's users, just FYI). - Spirou (talk) 01:25, 12 March 2021 (EST)
That makes sense, I will talk with my friend to see if she can think of a placeholder that's unrelated to any of her current usernames. As for "stubs" about a person, how much information is actually required? Is there a word count requirement or something? I will try to make the page about her as non-intrusive as I can unless I get permission to do so otherwise. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WhiteTigerOfTheWest (talkcontribs) .
Just basic info: Basic Who/what and some external links to show/confirm who she/he/they are. - Spirou (talk)

Category Internal Errors

Hi, Spirou. I've noticed that I've been getting internal errors when I click on any category available. I want to be able to see the lists, like usual. Today I seem to be getting threads of text when I click on any. Is this user-end, or server-side? - Meeran (talk) 14:01, 16 April 2021 (EST)

Hallo Meeran, GreenReaper should be more of a help on this matter. - Spirou (talk) 01:22, 19 April 2021 (EDT)

Page removal and edit log wiped

Apologies if I do this wrong, I don't really know how to Wiki, but I have tried contacting staff multiple times through both the help desk forum and email to try and get a page removed and edit long wiped clean but have gotten no response. Jax The Purple Bat. It's old, irrelevant, gives me major privacy and security concerns, and haven't been part of the fandom for over a decade now. I will provide proof that I am the one in the article via some other means if necessary as whatever account/email I might have used back then has long been forgotten. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by FormerlyJax (talkcontribs) .

Hallo; you are doing it right. Twitter would be the fastest way to initiate the process, if you can send me a DM/MP at @SpirouWikifur, I can start working on it today evening (sry, working overnite right now). If not, try emailing me via the Wikifur mail. Hope this helps. - Spirou (talk) 08:59, 2 May 2021 (EDT)
Confirmation via Twitter, starting personal exclusion. - Spirou (talk) 03:55, 3 May 2021 (EDT)

Question re: Vanity Pages & character information

I was tagged recently on my vanity page; one of the tags was {{Overly detailed}}. At the time I had sections of information for each of my characters. I have since deleted the bulk of that information and condensed it down to a single para listing my characters, but that might've been overkill. Would you be able to point me to any guidance on this? Related to that, I have been debating adding a character gallery below that paragraph to give small shots of each of my characters. Would that be okay? Thank you for your guidance and help. GingerM (Leave me a message) 14:21, 2 May 2021 (EDT)

The latest articles I have seen tag as such was those where the image section was larger than the article itself, becoming almost like a furry art gallery. Information is fine, but step back and look at it to see if the data is been choked out. - Spirou (talk) 15:31, 3 May 2021 (EDT)
Thank you. I may see about putting small - 1 para, probably - character descriptions of each one. Related to that, is it okay to link to off-site, say character info on SoFurry or Weasyl, for instance (I mention those specifically because they have a specific type of post for characters, as you probably know).GingerM (Leave me a message) 02:44, 7 May 2021 (EDT)

Vandalism

65.158.147.250 vandalized Arvada Tails article. I've reverted it, but I wanted to let you know in case you wish to take further action. From the article history log, it appears this is the second time there's been vandalism from that IP address; last was on the 7th of April.GingerM (Leave me a message) 02:42, 7 May 2021 (EDT)

Thanks, will take care off. - Spirou (talk) 15:56, 11 May 2021 (EDT)

1. The Copyright belongs to Chris Baird (me), who gave up on this site for contributions being nuked for no fair reason. 2. The 'low resolution sample' is actually close to the original size.

I am under attack online and need my wikifur page removed promptly. It's being used as ammo against me.

Hello. I am Charem, the one who https://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Charem is written about.

This page is both severely outdated and severely unprofessional. Also, I'm currently under attack on other websites and this page and what's on it is being used as ammo against me further.

I made an edit removing most of the information and asking for page closure to immediately remove this legitimate problem, but a staff member reverted the page back to how it was before and insisted I contact a creator. So here I am.

I would appreciate my page simply being blanked/closed for the time being, until I can update it more thoroughly. I really hope this request can be responded-to quickly. Thank you.

If my identity needs to be proven, please contact me at any of my known contacts and I can verify this request. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Charem (talkcontribs) .

Editing Grim's Page

Hello!

I joined wikifur a week ago and have been working on the two furry projects I know most about that I am passionate about contributing to.

I have been given permission by the creator of Feral Fantasies (a page I'm working on) to post about him but it seems his name is blanked. I'm guessing this is because of someone else named Grim or maybe some pre-emptive thing?

Is it possible to un-blank it? Or should I name him something similar like Grim the Dragon? If needs be I can probably direct him to prove who he is on here if that is required.

Thank you for reading this.

Hallo. There was somebody with this handle that asked for protection a while back. I will open it so you can start an article with the same exact name if it is not the same person. Giv e me few secs. Okay.done, go right ahead. - Spirou (talk) 13:44, 2 June 2021 (EDT)

Thank you for all your help. I'm still getting to grips with the site but will try my best to improve on my work as I go :) - TheRedWolf (talk) 21:35, 2 June 2021 (GMT)

Repeat vandalism

Special:Contributions/202.86.119.57 reverted your reversion on FoxTailedCritter; I suspect it's the same person and they just changed their IP address slightly. GingerM (Leave me a message) 00:56, 3 June 2021 (EDT)

Thank you. - Spirou (talk) 04:27, 3 June 2021 (EDT)

Remove articles

Hello, Spirou. As the original creator, I would like to have these pages removed, or if not possible, locked. - Tabyhunterwolf (talk)

There was no such character on page, because I created it, I even mentioned that it was a fan creation to ship with an existing character

Vandalism of Natalia's page

Hey Spirou, some random stranger vandalized Natalia's page. I've fixed it myself, but I advise blocking the IPv6 and IPv4. - WhiteTigerOfTheWest (talk)

Vandal report

Hi, Spirou; 2601:400:8000:A140:7066:B679:A45A:DAB2 vandalized Erik Mouse article. I've reverted the vandalism; you may want to block this IP address. Thank you. GingerM (Leave me a message) 02:19, 11 July 2021 (EDT)

Vandalism of Natalia's page, again

It would be a good idea to lock the page so only registered users can edit it.

73.73.78.161, 98.163.20.193, 2600:2b00:8d58:ed00:957:6a9f:cff8:9157, 74.83.96.3 are all vandals.

Natalia plays Destiny 2 competitively and people who get upset that she is better than they are tend to vandalize her page.

Two things

1) User:Conqi page, edited by Special:Contributions/89.38.99.188 looks to me like spamming about a music site? Bringing it to your attention in case you feel giving them a time-out or permanent ban is appropriate.
2) User:FoxRunTime seems to have applied {{Protected-Excluded}} on their eponymous article FoxRunTime themself after I left them a message about the correct process for requesting personal exclusion. I was under the impression this needed an admin to do it in order to actually protect the page, but I don't know enough about how wikis work generally and WikiFur specifically, so I'm referring it to you. I know I have a habit of doing that of late, and I apologize for it, but I don't want to annoy people nor inadvertently present the appearance of being an admin when I'm not. GingerM (Leave me a message) 03:07, 14 July 2021 (EDT)
Update (14 Jul 2021): Special:Contributions/89.38.99.188 (point 1, above) created another user page (User:Polaris) with exact same content. Also another spam message seen on a newly-created user page: User:UaineSionnach, created by Special:Contributions/154.30.38.249. Just FYI. Side note - Is there a page or someplace I can list these that all the admins see? I know I must come across as leaning on you specifically when I mention these. I tend to contact you as you seem to be the most active of the curators, though. Please do tell me if I'm being a pest and you'd rather I just stop. GingerM (Leave me a message) 01:45, 15 July 2021 (EDT)

Connor J. Coyote

Hello: I requested that my page be deleted, about a month ago... and, I have not heard back on it...... and so - is it possible I can I get an answer from somebody about the status of my request?

The pages I posted are here:https://en.wikifur.com/w/index.php?title=User_talk:GreenReaper&action=edit&section=223

and here (section 5): https://en.wikifur.com/w/index.php?title=Forum:Forum:Page_Deletion_Request&t=20210613043521

(If there's something specific that I need to do, to acomplish this - or, if I need to contact a certain person - can someone let me know)? because I don't know otherwise..... thanks. :)

(also posted to Connor's user talk page) Hi, Connor - I'm not one of the admins, or curators as they're called here, but I can point you in the right direction. What you're looking for is Personal exclusion. If you follow that link, it will take you to the policy on personal exclusion and how to request it. Short form - you need to contact a curator from a verifiable source. On the policy page the word 'curator' is wikilinked to a staff list; the curators are the first five in the list in the side box. I'm sorry I can't help you more, but I'm only another contributor myself. GingerM (Leave me a message) 01:35, 15 July 2021 (EDT)
Connor, if you have Twitter, you can DM me at @SpirouWikifur, or you can open your FA account and just post a quick confirmation journal (We had users do this in the past). After confirmation, I can start the Personal Exclusion. - Spirou (talk) 20:50, 18 July 2021 (EDT)

Proposed 'spammer' tag for informal patrollers to use

I've noticed a fair number of spam articles of late so I've created a template to mark them as such, since I am not an admin (nor do I wish to become one! :D). My thought is that this gives other editors a way to quickly mark a spam article / spamming user for curators to take a look at if deletion and/or blocking is needed. The template is {{Spammer}}. I'm putting this suggestion to each of the curators; I hope this is a useful tool. If not, feel free to delete it. GingerM (Leave me a message) 19:31, 16 July 2021 (EDT)

GingerM, spam is a very ethereal text that is obliterated as soon as it is detected. You shouldn't put much effort into it because their existence is sometimes measured in seconds. Sometimes Curators are not available (I'm working on some animation character designs right now, but I just came in for some site cleaning), so they will stick around for a few days, but don't worry about, they will be terminated as I did to all marked spams that were here today. I don't think the tag is really necessary, but other Curators may have a different suggestion about or maybe offer some other method to tag spam, but thanks for offering the suggestion and for your edits on Wikifur. Cheers and take care!. - Spirou (talk) 20:50, 18 July 2021 (EDT)
