Thanks for the welcome and pic change[edit]

Thanks very much for changing the picture name, and also for welcoming me! ^-^ I'm afraid that I forgot to change the file name before I uploaded it like the silly fellow I am. Many thanks once again, and all the best!

Your Skills Were Very Appreciated[edit]

Thanks a ton for the crisp look and proper rewording to the page.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nosphaer (talkcontribs) .

Thanks and hello![edit]

Actually, I've been around for some time now, it's just hard to contribute to WikiFur, as most of the info is there already. But I am working on articles on Estonian WikiFur, that's a field that has plenty of work to do. And I would also write articles about couple of most-known Estonian furries to English WikiFur. Only thing bothering me is that I'd like to change my username to TDtheTiger (so it'd match my fursona and user names on other sites) but I'm not sure if it's possible to do on WikiFur sites without losing contributions.

All the best, TD

Hello, Riverside/TDtheTiger. I can rename your account TDtheTiger quite simply. I'm not completely sure, but I'm fairly confident that your editing history is retained during such a renaming. So if you want me to go ahead and change it, just say the word.--Higgs Raccoon 20:13, 29 August 2013 (EDT)
Yes; the names will be adjusted everywhere, and the contributions remain. --GreenReaper(talk) 01:49, 2 September 2013 (EDT)

Hello MuddyTheFox here, sorry about the constant saving, I am very confused with all the layout and was being passed info from some friends to update their pages as it was just as confusing for them lol. Thanks again for the greeting too! :) All the best!! Ps I hope I posted this in the right place lol!

Dhary Montecore[edit]

"Currently" as in...well...up to and including earlier this week :) Is there some particular phrase I should be using here ? Bezel 12:46, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

"As of (date)" would be good. The problem with "currently" is that it's rather vague.--Higgs Raccoon 12:51, 20 September 2013 (EDT)
I can understand that, but "as of September 19th, 2013", seems a bit too specific ! Like giving GPS co-ordinates for a furmeet :) I'll have a ponder Bezel 12:58, 20 September 2013 (EDT)
If you feel the day is too specific, try just broadening it to "As of September, 2013, he is working as a freelance event technician",--Higgs Raccoon 13:04, 20 September 2013 (EDT)

User Page templates[edit]

Hi, I might need some help and advice. I tried to create a user template, the ones you can place on your profile to display various things. Like whether you have an FA account etc. and I am having trouble making it into an actual template myself and others can use like that on their profile. I think I have also slightly messed up my user page as my links to being a wikifurry have disappeared and some of my current templates. Sorry for the fuss and any help would be much appreciated!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mikune (talkcontribs) .

Hello, Mikune. I think it's working now. The template needed a few small adjustments, that's all, and I've renamed it Template:User_Leeds_Furmeet. To add it to anyone's User Page, just include the code User Leeds Furmeet. --Higgs Raccoon 14:26, 23 September 2013 (EDT)

Thank you, your help is much appreciated! --Mikune 01:45, 29 September 2013 (EDT)

User page - random blue background?[edit]

Hi, I would just like to ask about something that sometimes occurs during preview of an edit. Well, a sort of half blue background appears when I click to view my edits before publishing. Is this something wrong with the code in my userpage or is it not actually there when published? Mikune 00:29, 29 September 2013 (EDT)

You may wish to direct this query to User:GreenReaper. Viewing your User Page, I don't see any half-blue background, nor do I get the effect you describe if I open it for editing and click the Show Preview button. GR has a better understanding of WikiFur's nuts and blocks than I do, so if there's some some subtle glitch then he may be able to offer advice.--Higgs Raccoon 10:44, 29 September 2013 (EDT)

Deletion of page inqury[edit]

Hey it's user:MilitaryAviator, just wondering if you could delete for me. I'm in a transition period at the moment, (changing fursona's) so once I finish, I'll make another page. So if you could please delete my cole cherno page, that would be greatly appreciated.-user:MilitaryAviator 18:16 EST, 1 October, 2013

From the POV of WikiFur's curators, it'd be easier and tidier if you decided on your new fursona and then simply rewrote the existing article, which would then be moved if the name has changed as well.--Higgs Raccoon 19:12, 1 October 2013 (EDT)
Alright, I edited my page, I just need you to change the url from Cole Cherno To MilitaryAviator if you could please ---user:MilitaryAviator 9:28, 3 October 2013 (EST)

Help with clearing and deleting a page[edit]

Hi there... I wanted to have my page deleted. It's I've been clearing the page and saying "user wished to be excluded," but people just keep reverting it. If you could delete it, that would be absolutely wonderful. Thanks! -Nick

Hi. I notice you've now split this up into seperate articles for each year, created a template etc. Is this standard policy where a convention has had at least one iteration and has announced there are plans for another one ? Bezel 09:31, 7 October 2013 (EDT)

Hi Bezel. I don't think there's anything written in stone, but it's what we do with the "big" conventions, and I see no harm in being consistent and treating the smaller conventions the same. Of course, it depends on how much there is to split off. With FurWAG there's only a few paragraphs to put in the year-specific articles, but I feel it's just enough to justify splitting it. If there was anything less than that then I'd probably keep them together in one article. (For example, in the article about EAST, there's only one or two sentences on each iteration of the event, so that's an article I would leave unsplit.)--Higgs Raccoon 09:49, 7 October 2013 (EDT)

Hopeful this work[edit]

Im a newbie, thanks for the page and help your awesome. Have a good Christmas :D

Deleting page[edit]

Just wondering you you cloud somehow delete my page MilitaryAviator and close my account. I don't use this site too often anymore, so if you could please. -user:MilitaryAviator 17:54 EST, 26 December 2013

I have deleted the article MilitaryAviator and locked it against further changes. If you change your mind, you can ask any curator to unlock and restore the article. I'm not sure if there's a mechanism for deactivating your account. That might be a question best put to GreenReaper.--Higgs Raccoon 18:56, 26 December 2013 (EST)
ok thanks man, I asked greenreaper and we'll see what happens -User:MilitaryAviator 19:20EST 26, december 2013

Personal Exclusion Request[edit]

Hi, I'd like to have my primary article page WolfWings here deleted/protected and the Exclusion Template put in place please. WolfWings 19:12, 2 January 2014 (EST)

Done. The article has been deleted and locked against further edits. If you change your mind in the future, you can ask any curator to unlock and restore the article.--Higgs Raccoon 19:48, 2 January 2014 (EST)

Hello! SyrahFairbairn here.[edit]

Thank you for putting me up here, I'm really, very flattered! My DA Info is wrong, and I no longer use it, but it's ok. (just thought I should notify you.) :) Much love to you!

Hi this is Katsuke[edit]

I would like to request for my page, Katsuke_Saito to be closed and deleted due to inactivity.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) .

It's not considered necessary to delete a page just because it is inactive, but, it you are sure you want it removed, could you put a note saying "Remove me from WikiFur" on your Fur Affinity profile? This will be taken as proof of identity, and the article will then be excluded.--Higgs Raccoon 06:04, 16 January 2014 (EST)

In regards to my talk page[edit]

Thank you for the helpful advice, since I'm new here I didn't know frequently pressing save was a bad thing. I'm sorry for any trouble I put you or the other curators through. Much love and your knowledge is very appreciated!--Richard Lindsey 14:17, 19 January 2014 (EST)

Personal Exclusion Request[edit]

Hunter DarkWolf[edit]

Hunter here just saying thinks for work on my page but can I ask how so you know my sofurry and FB—The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) .

Are you asking how I know the addresses of your SoFurry and Facebook pages? TheEchoRies added your Facebook address, and your SoFurry address is linked to on your Fur Affinity page.--Higgs Raccoon 18:49, 5 February 2014 (EST)

Higs do you have a FA if so note me—The preceding unsigned comment was added by Hunter DarkWolf (talkcontribs) .

I don't use Fur Affinity to any meaningful extent. BTW, when using Talk Pages you should sign your comments with "--~~~~".--Higgs Raccoon 17:12, 6 February 2014 (EST)

Do you use any other site that I can chat with you on --Hunter DarkWolf

Not really. Other curators may maintain an online presence off WikiFur, but I find it hardly worthwhile anymore.--Higgs Raccoon 14:52, 7 February 2014 (EST)

Doh and thanks (re rollback)[edit]

An iPhone screen can be a pain in the arse for editing sometimes. Missed the screw up , too /=< -Spirou 16:57, 28 February 2014 (EST)

Changes to ConFurgence page[edit]

Hello there, are we able to talk in regards to the editing of the ConFurgence page? You can reach me at <>, or I am currently on the wikifur IRC channel. - —The preceding unsigned comment was added by (talkcontribs) .

We prefer not to converse via private e-mail, as it leaves other editors in the dark. (Article talk pages are better as everyone can keep up-to-date.) I don't use the IRC channel but you can probably find GreenReaper or other admins there. (I am going afk anyway.) --Higgs Raccoon 07:49, 3 April 2014 (EDT)

Good to know someone's on the job[edit]

even if they delete a page that took a while to setup on a phone. But i hope you won't delete it again --Teraunce 09:05, 8 May 2014 (EDT)

Hmm (?)[edit]

Sorry, I really have no bloody clue how I even did that rollback, specially while using the mouse on the computer. I made some butterfinger mistakes while editing on the iPhone or iPad, but I have no clue how the hell I scr*wed up on that last action. I'm sorry about rolling back your edit. >.< - Spirou 15:57, 11 May 2014 (EDT)

Nope, can't be proximity. The last link I clicked on was the Musuku article, and the rollback button for the reverted article is three rows up on the opposite side of the browser screen. Again, apologies (duh) - Spirou 16:03, 11 May 2014 (EDT)

Netherlands flag code[edit]

Thanks for correcting Netherland's country code in Template:Flagdiv! --Kakurady 02:38, 20 May 2014 (EDT)

Thanks for the cleanup[edit]

Thanks for the cleanup on the Timeline of media coverage page I am not sure what was wrong with that edit, if you would like please contact me directly as I would like to be able to help keep that page and a few others up to date but would also like to avoid injecting errors into a page

Best Wishes Kovu DaLion

Hi Kovu,
The main thing I can tell you is to watch out for equals signs. For some reason or another, the coding used in the Media Timeline page doesn't like them. This can be a problem when you want to add a YouTube link, since they all have equals signs in them. The workaround is to put the equals sign in double curly-brackets. iey_TKgWDZiv4 instead of --Higgs Raccoon 13:40, 22 May 2014 (EDT)

No problem, I stumbled across it on Reddit just this morning and spent an hour or so going through it all. I was hooked as soon as I started reading. Was surprised it wasn't already on here, actually. --Ralphie Raccoon (talk) 16:23, 7 June 2014 (EDT)

Hi! What do you mean "citation needed"?—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2001:980:A4CB:1:ACFD:24C6:BAED:2EAC‎ (talkcontribs) .

As the Eurofurs article contains a piece of text which seems to be a quotation from somewhere, I added the "citation needed" tag so someone might add a link to wherever the quote can be found.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 19:06, 10 June 2014 (EDT)
It's original text, I'm Naros! -2001:980:A4CB:1:ACFD:24C6:BAED:2EAC
In that case, it needs to be rewritten in a more formal, encyclopaedic tone. It sounds a bit casual and conversational as it is.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 19:17, 10 June 2014 (EDT)
What do you suggest? It's a very informal channel, and it accurately describes the attitude to be expected there, and the way we deal with moderation. So I'm at a loss of how to convey it in a more formal manner. I've changed it a bit, but I feel it's lacking.
I've also also stuck the article link in the channel's topic and asked people to add to it. -2001:980:A4CB:1:ACFD:24C6:BAED:2EAC 19:39, 10 June 2014 (EDT)
Between your edits and Spirou's, the article seems to be more formally written now.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 16:58, 11 June 2014 (EDT)

Hello, Sapincher. If you leave a comment on your SoFurry or profiles, or your "JD" twitter profile, to the effect of "Please remove me from WikiFur", this will be taken as proof of identity, and the article will then be deleted and locked.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 11:37, 19 July 2014 (EDT)

Category order[edit]

Category order is something I've struggled with since joining WikiFur, as I'm sure you've noticed. I'd do better remembering if I had a visual list somewhere to refer to. Since you've been the one following me around with a broom and dustpan this entire time, I figured I'd ask you if you could provide me with one. Equivamp - talk 17:29, 12 September 2014 (EDT)

I follow the example of our Category Lead, Sine:
 • always first
 • Activity-related categories (, , constaff categories, guest-of-honour categories, etc, etc)
 • Species-related categories (generally main fursona)
 • Geographical categories (locations of significance - place of birth, current residence)
 • Time-related categories last (year of birth, year of death)--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 17:59, 12 September 2014 (EDT)

Thanks, and removal of an old page[edit]

Thanks for the redirect and patch-in help with the page. I am very new to this, I have NO idea what Im doing. Is this how we communicate with this Higgs Raccoon? Just want to say THANKS very much; obviously Im not good at editing here, but thanks for updating/fixing& properly formatting my Author page. Now can I add this link (?) review of a work I did, but how do I add it as a reference with the proper format? I only know / see how to add external links. TIA KAMonroe

You're most welcome! If you open the article K.A. Monroe for editing, you will see an example of how references work. The basic things to remember are that the reference should be sandwiched between , and you need to insert the code <references/> in the references section to make the references visible.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 17:15, 4 April 2015 (EDT)

Info Box[edit]

Thank you for revising my page mentioned that infoboxes are only for people who are highly notable..does this rule apply to all categories?-- 17:13, 9 May 2015 (EDT)

Hello, Akko. No, categories apply equally to all furries, great and small.--Higgs Raccoon (talk) 17:17, 9 May 2015 (EDT)
I think the question might have been "should infoboxes apply only to notable non-people as well?" (If so, I'd say the answer is no . . . in fact, I think notability isn't as big an issue as length of article to necessitate summation in an infobox.) --GreenReaper(talk) 21:02, 9 May 2015 (EDT)

Steam Wikilink?[edit]

Hi Higgs, was wondering if you could enlighten me as to the rationale behind removing the Steam wikilink from the Crashdoom article whilst preserving wikilinks to other articles such as Twitter and FurAffinity etc. Your edit summary seemed to suggest that the wikilink was unrelated or otherwise added very little to the substance of the article. To the best of my knowledge, the user's notability within the furry community primarily stems from his official involvement in Ozzy Furocity - A notable furry-oriented community built around the Steam platform. Hence, I would have thought that Steam was related enough to the article subject as to warrant its own wikilink and certainly more deserving of such a link than say, Twitter, for example, in which the user has a negligible affiliation. Thanks Leon Hunter (talk) 19:11, 27 May 2015 (EDT)

If you are talking about this edit, I changed the wikilink "Steam" to the plaintext "Steam" because the link "Steam" does not lead to an article about the Steam platform, which was presumably intended. If you click on it, you will see it goes to a disambiguation page about various people named Steam and a furry pride group with Steam in its name. This is in contrast to Fur Affinity, Twitter, etc, where the links do go to articles about those sites. With that in mind, are my reasons for removing the link clear? (PS, if you feel it would be relevant to WikiFur, you could always start on article at Steam (platform) or something similar.) --Higgs Raccoon (talk) 20:43, 27 May 2015 (EDT)
