Plot[edit]

Spoiler warning: Plot and/or ending details follow.

Ryan is the son of Samson, a strong alpha lion kept at Central Park Zoo in New York City. Ryan idolises his father and frequently emulates him, hoping to grow into a strong and fierce lion just like him.

One night, however, Ryan is accidentally taken from the zoo whilst mimicking his father, and Samson must team up with his fellow zoomates to bring Ryan back home.

Reaction[edit]

Reaction to the film was largely negative. Critics highlighted that the film's storyline borrowed too heavily from the 2003 film Finding Nemo, as well as the 1994 film The Lion King.[1]

Several critics noted that The Wild was too similar to the 2005 Dreamworks film Madagascar, particularly as both are set in Central Park Zoo, both involve animals running riot in New York City, as well as similar animal characters with similar traits.[2]
