The Toby Man is a book by Dick King-Smith. It is about Tod Golightly, a young and initially inexperienced highwayman, who has more success as he works with a number of talking animal companions: Matilda the Donkey, Digby the bull mastiff Dog, Evil the Ferret, and Loudmouth the Magpie.

The Toby Man was first published in 1989, by Victor Gollancz Ltd, with illustrations by Ian Newsham. In 1991 it was published in Puffin Books.[1]
