The Secret Furry Patrons Keeping Indie Artists Afloat is an article written by Brian Feldman under New York Magazine's Intelligencer collumn and published in 2016. The article asserts that in times of artists being asked to work for pennies, or the worse option of exposure, furries are a reliable source of income because the nature of the fandom dictates that members have at least one or several fursonas and/or characters. Furries that are not artistically inclined tend to commission artists to visually represent their characters. Amongst those Feldman interviewed were furry artists; Vantid, Sara Jensen and Katie Hofgard, and furry writer Colin Spacetwinks.
