The Journal Entries of Kennet R'yal Shardik
The Journal Entries of Kennet R'yal Shardik is a series of short stories by Elf Sternberg. Nearly all the stories would be rated NC-17 for explicit sexual content. Many of the Journal Entries contain furry, bisexual, and/or BDSM themes, but some of the stories explore nearly every aspect of sexuality.
Plot summary[edit]
In the opening story, 000/00000, Sternberg describes Shardik creating a new world, a huge ringworld named "Pendor", assisted by a surviving Greek goddess, Oenone. Having created this world, Shardik proceeds to live there. He is accorded a large degree of social status by virtue of having created the world, but he does not rule the world. For the most part, he is content to live his own life in his own small area of the world. When he does feel that the dwellers in his world need guidance, he does it by setting an example.
Among the themes explored:
- Heterosexuality
- Homosexuality
- Bondage
- Sadism
- Asphyxia
- Golden showers
- Masochism
- Inter-species sex
- Sex with underage (but consenting) sapients.
The Journal Entries are not simply porn, however. All the stories have a plot; in many cases a plot arc will extend across multiple stories. Many stories also make a point about Shardik, his world, or the customs that are growing up in this world. (And of course, indirectly make a point about our world, Earth.)
