The Fandom is a documentary series that is focused on giving people a real-life look into the furry community as told by the artists and creators who have helped build it. The project, led by Ash Coyote, consists of two parts, a multi-season web series, and a feature film.

The Fandom[1] gives an in-depth look at the early history of the fandom and explores the furry fandom's origins as the first internet subculture as well as focusing on the individuals who helped to start the first furry conventions, meetups, and facilitate artistic expression.

History[edit]

A Kickstarter[3] for the project was started on March 22, 2019, [4] and the Kickstarter ended on May 21, 2019.[5] The project ended up raising $32,125, which was $12,125 more than its $20,000 original goal.[6]

On May 22, 2020 a trailer for the film was uploaded onto Ash Coyote's YouTube Channel.[2]

The Fandom was scheduled to be promoted and represent the various film festivals and markets on 2020, but it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the documentary premiered on Ash's YouTube channel on July 3, 2020.[7][8]

The Fandom documentary film was also made available on Blu-Rays, 4K, and HD digital downloads available for purchase on July 3, 2020, on the official website,[9] and via video-on-demand and streaming platforms.
