The City That Barks and Roars is a 2020 novel by JT Bird. It won the 2020 Ursa Major Award for Best Novel.

Plot[edit]

In the city of Noah's Kingdom, Detective Frank Penguin (penguin) is assigned to find missing furson, Lucas Panda (panda). Clues on the riverbank suggest that he was probably kidnapped. Penguin is also assigned a new partner, a wisecracking monkey by the name of Chico. As more of the citizenry go missing, both detectives have to put aside their differences before the city is faced with extinction.
