Template talk:PDImage

I think we should split this tag into multiple tags, because this one doesn't give any reason why the image is reportedly in the public domain. Now, places like Wikipedia have a lot of public domain tags, but the minimum number needed is only three; let's call them {{PD-by|name}}, {{PD-old}}, and {{PD-ineligible}}. Respectively they are: released into the public domain by name, copyright expired for whatever reason, and not eligible for copyright.

A {{PD-self}} tag might help with user compliance but it can be covered with a {{PD-by|name}} tag. --Rat 01:56, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

I made the tags, feel free to edit them; they're just for discussion so far. --Rat 18:12, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Adjusted template to add Category:Files needing licensing[edit]

I've added to this template (following the style of Template:UnknownLicense) This template should be replaced by a more specific licensing template. The public domain templates include {{PD-by|name}} (released into the public domain by name), {{PD-old}} (copyright expired), and {{PD-ineligible}}. -- Sine 18:21, 26 July 2012 (EDT)
