Commentary by Rat, founder of Yerf[edit]

Side7's furry offering was started out of spite of Yerf, artists that didn't like being told they weren't good enough for Yerf. It was a very hateful beginning, and I think its a shame, but they were kids back then, now its probably just a decent community like any other. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Kilorat (talkcontribs) .

Well, whenever you tell people that, they are going to go and make their own place. I consider this a good thing, as there is a place for all art and artists somewhere. Ironically, it seems to be the "less-selective" archives that have proved the most enduring, with places like the VCL going from strength to strength. --GreenReaper(talk) 21:03, 6 Nov 2005 (UTC)
I'm not sure I agree with your correlation of selectivity and endurance. The problem I would see is that the more selective you are, the greater number of man-hours it's going to take to maintain the selectivity. If any conclusions might be drawn, it's that it is harder to sustain a server/service that requires a large amount of effort from (possibly) multiple individuals over a long period of time than to just put up a server/service that requires relatively little maintenance. This is not intended as a critique on any archive/service, by the way, just an overall observation. --Duncan da Husky 13:58, 7 Nov 2005 (UTC)
It's only natural that those who aren't accepted on one site go elsewhere or start something on their own. As for server maintenance, it's a balance: If you do no maintenance at all, it will be flooded with spam and off-topic crap. If you are very strict, you won't get anything or it becomes unmanageable with growth. Unci 14:07, 7 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Name origin?[edit]

I've always wondered -- is Side 7's named based on the equivalent location in the classic 0079 Gundam series? It might be worth noting whether it is or not, just as an aside. 12:44, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
