Exclusion, and our failings[edit]

I have talked to the subject of this article and we agreed that at this point, exclusion is the most appropriate resolution. Frankly, they are unhappy with how they have been treated - and judging by the article history, it's hard to blame them. This is a clear case of a biography falling through the cracks.

When reverts keep happening, and there's a reasonable chance that the subject is behind them, it is not good enough to just drop a comment on the talk page of an IP address; thanks to dynamic IP allocation, they may never see it. It is an especially bad idea to accuse them of vandalism, when in their eyes they are just trying desperately to "fix their article".

Almost every biography provides a number of links which may be used to reach out and explain issues in a more personal manner (e.g. notes on FA, email or IM). Such actions can be noted on the attached talk page. Do this before reverting the article – and consider carefully whether an immediate reversion is necessary at all.

There are other ways to improve this situation (using AbuseFilter to detect mass removals springs to mind), but the general procedure of reaching out to subjects is something that all editors should be aware of. --GreenReaper(talk) 18:55, 15 June 2011 (EDT)

That's my fault. I'm getting ahead of myself. Perhaps I should try sleeping more often. I apologize. At any rate, GreenReaper, feel free to reprimand me on my talk page in cases like this. If I ever get out of line, make sure you cut me down to size and remind me my place. I tend to get a big head sometimee. Equivamp 19:05, 15 June 2011 (EDT)
This was an issue before you started editing, certainly before your edit to this article. A number of curators attempted to deal with this situation before you. Each made what were reasonable decisions in isolation, but we should have recognized that there was a problem building here. --GreenReaper(talk) 19:08, 15 June 2011 (EDT)
Oh, I was refering to accusing the I.P. of vandalism--that was all me. I was trying to find a template that expressed to them to talk to somebody, and apparently my dozy brain thought that was appropriate. Equivamp 19:14, 15 June 2011 (EDT)
