Talk:Furrygate: The Furrying

Given that the subject of this controversy has requested exclusion, I think it might also be wise to consider the relevance of this article as well. This controversy does not actually appear to have much to do with the fandom, beyond the fact that a fandom member was its instigator, and that it brought some unwelcome attention to the fandom due to a blog post examining his fandom activities. --GreenReaper(talk) 19:33, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

All thought I agree on the right of the mentioned user of having his article excluded, this media coverage event does seem to qualify as a standalone article. An user decided to use his "furry" pseudonym in a mundane discussion, which lead to the discovery by "mundane" people of the Furry Culture by proxy, plus pro and (mostly) con media responses about it from other fandoms/groups aware of the furfandom.
In other words, it (the initial user's action) generated news responses in which furry was entangled in it, even in a cursory kind of way =/ Spirou 21:21, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
This is all true, but the coverage of the political material appears disproportionate to its relevance to furry fandom. I've trimmed the quote a bit, not sure what else I can remove without being unable to tell the story though. --GreenReaper(talk) 05:54, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Article update #1 (April 17 2009)[edit]

Updating the entry's appropriateness status. Keep or delete?. Vote on keep (relevancy [mainstream news], not because of creation by this Sysop) - Spirou 02:51, 18 April 2009 (UTC)

Keep While it may need work on neutrality and presentation(maybe even a pagename change), I don't think that's the kind of thing you can say "pretend that never happened" --Rat 06:08, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Delete. Has nothing to do with furryness, just something that a furry posted about. Unless it can be made clearer the effects (if any) on the furry fandom, I think it should go. --Atlantima 19:05, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Against merge[edit]

The article is a mainstream piece of news involving politics and furry, with Cigarskunk involved. Moving it to his article would diminish the importance of this standalone article, plus it could be subject of the article's user "edit sanitation" - Spirou 21:54, 23 April 2012 (EDT)
