Stasis is a short story by Alflor Aalto. It was published on SoFurry and Fur Affinity in 2011. It is the story of two otter brothers who win a once-in-a-lifetime trip on the latest faster-than-light spacecraft.
This story was selected and read on the 6th episode of the Bad Dog Book Club podcast.
Stasis was Alflor's first foray into the science-fiction horror category. This story deals with very disturbing and harsh realities, so readers are warned in advance.
Inspiration[edit]
Alflor was inspired to write Stasis after reading a good deal of material from famed horror author, H.P. Lovecraft. He enjoyed Lovecraft's brand of horror -- woven from sheer hopelessness rather than cheap jump-scares -- and wanted to write something similar.
