Radio Unifurse was a furry radio show founded by The Sonic God, Alkora, Aerak, and Arren Jevleth back in 2008. Its original concept was meant as a joke, as The Sonic God was messing around with a program that his friend Dave Rivet (one of the original artists for The Sonic God's character) had let him borrow, a Macintosh program called Nicecast. After using the program, The Sonic God found it incredibly useful and started up his own internet radio station. Radio Unifurse would then eventually come to air after the Funday PawPet Show on Sundays. The name "Radio Unifurse" came from a concept of a possible furry convention that was never meant to be, to simply be called "Unifurse." Radio Unifurse was also inspired by the Furry Broadcasting Corporation, after meeting up with the FBC's producers from Anthrocon.

History and trivia[edit]

Radio Unifurse first broadcast was held in New Brighton, MN. Though Radio Unifurse was started in 2008, it didn't become a surefire thing until months later, since the broadcast was originally done from a Mac mini on a low-end cable connection. This would produce problems eventually, since the upload connection wouldn't support more than roughly 20 listeners.

Later on, Alkora and Aerak would be in contact with a friend who owned a dedicated server, and eventually allowed hundreds of listeners.

Radio Unifurse was originally designed to be a four-hour program, but now is only two hours long, and airs after the Funday Pawpet Show nearly every Sunday.

After about a year, due to financial reasons, Radio Unifurse was relocated to be broadcast in Apple Valley, MN, and a month later, a local friend, Kae Kiama, would join as a team member. In April of 2011, Radio Unifurse was once again relocated to Saint Paul, MN.

Radio Unifurse also video broadcasts over Ustream, and eventually Justin.tv as a compliment to the show, and sometimes as a backup.

Special guest appearances have included SonicBlu from the Time Machine Show, Chilly, who was a Guest of Honor at Midwest Fur Fest, and Poink T. Ferret, played by JR from the Funday Pawpet Show and creator of the Poinkcasts.

A few Subservient Fursuiters, an idea borrowed from the Funday Pawpet Show came on Ustream. Draces, Kae Kiama, and even The Sonic God's own characters, Shisazen Mukanu and Xavakin.

During the show, excerpts from Fail Blog are periodically read on the show, as well as the #Pawpet IRC channel statistics, technology articles from Engadget and other websites are mentioned as an additional source of random entertainment.

Most of the time, the show is not scripted, though subjects are predetermined earlier in the week by The Sonic God. While oftentimes funny, random and amusing, Radio Unifurse has been known to bring up subjects of a more serious manner, in respect toward its audience.

Radio Unifurse's website is http://www.unifurse.net. It is maintained by Alkora.

Radio Unifurse almost always ends with the phrase "Furry isn't just a way of life, we believe it's the best way."
