Proud To Be a Furry

The Proud To Be a Furry campaign website was founded in January 2002 by John "The Gneech" Robey of The Suburban Jungle in response to a perceived withdrawal from the term furry as it was subjected to increased negative publicity, both generally and in the media.

Gneech believed that choosing another term for same concept would not prevent people from ridiculing it, and that furries should instead stand firm against the bad press and fight for the right to be furry without fear or shame attached.

In 2017, Gneech replaced the original page with a new blog, highlighting positive events, influences, and artwork in the furry community.
