Original species
From WikiFur, the furry encyclopedia.
Original species are, in established fandoms and subcultures, user-made character species generally combining multiple animal character into new one (note: Depending on the fandom, not all original species are animals).

Types[edit]
There are two different kinds of original species, closed and open:
- Closed species are species you must ask or pay ("commission") the creator to make or use.
- Open species are species anyone can make, although some may require you to follow a guideline(s) to be considered one.[clarify]
- Mixed species are simply the anatomical mix of two or more animals, and are less complicated than original species.
- Semi-open species, also known as semi-closed species, are characters that have elements of both closed and open species. This may involve having characteristics available for any person to make a character with, but then have several reserved characteristics that must be purchased. It could also involve a system in which every user gets one free character, but all characters after that must be bought (i.e. Protogens and Primagens).
Some of these species can also be adopted.
