Open Season is a 2006 CGI movie from Sony Pictures Animation, written by Steve Bencich and Ron J. Friedman.

The movie features anthropomorphic characters in a fictional town. It was later released on DVD.

Critical reaction and box office[edit]

Open Season received mixed reviews from movie-goers.

Despite the mixed reactions, the movie did well at the box office, generating $85.1 million in the US and $112.2 elsewhere in the world.[1]

  • Boog (grizzly bear), the main protagonist of the film. He is Elliot's best friend, as well as Ranger Beth's former pet. – Martin Lawrence
  • Elliot (mule deer), the deuteragonist of the film. He is Boog's best friend, as well as Giselle's love interest and later, boyfriend. – Ashton Kutcher
  • Beth (human), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. She is Boog's former owner and adoptive mother. – Debra Messing
  • Shaw (human), the main antagonist of the film. He is Timberline's nastiest hunter, as well as Beth's arch-rival. – Gary Sinise
  • Giselle (mule deer), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. She is Elliot's love interest and later, girlfriend. – Jane Krakowski
  • McSquizzy (Eastern gray squirrel), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. He starts off as an antagonist when he beats Boog with his nuts, but he reforms during the fight with the hunters. – Billy Connolly
  • Ian (mule deer), the secondary antagonist of the film. He is a bully and rival to Elliot for Giselle's love and he has kicked him out of the herd for having a crush on her. During the fight with the hunters, Ian reforms. – Patrick Warburton
  • Reilly (North American beaver), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. – Jon Favreau
  • Gordy (human), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. He is Timberline's sheriff, as well as Beth's best friend. – Gordon Tootoosis
  • Bobbie (human), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. She is Bob's wife, as well as one of Mr. Weenie's owners and adoptive mother. – Georgia Engel
  • Mr. Weenie (dachshund), one of the supporting protagonists of the film. He is Bob and Bobbie's former pet who joins the wilds in their fight with the hunters. – Cody Cameron
