AnthrOhio (previously known as Morphicon from 2003-2015) is a furry convention in Columbus, Ohio. It is currently held at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North, usually over Memorial Day weekend. The con features a dealers den, a dance competition, and a hospitality room with complimentary refreshments for all attendees. It is the only active furry convention held in the state of Ohio. AnthrOhio 2023 had 1255 registered attendees.
Morphicon began during a trip to have dinner and see The Lion King in February 2003. By the end of the evening, it had been resolved that there needed to be a local convention.
Morphicon Zero, "The Zeroth Iteration", occurred June 21, 2003 as a furry all-day picnic held in Sharon Woods Park on the north side of Columbus, OH. Attendance was approximately 40. This picnic continues to be held each September in addition to the yearly convention in May. The first conventional "indoor" Morphicon was held at the Clarion Columbus North in June 2004. The convention moved to the Radisson (later Holiday Inn) in Worthington the following year, and would remain there until the hotel's closure in 2017.
After Morphicon 2015, the convention was rebranded to AnthrOhio to symbolize "recent shifts in staff and programming" and to distinguish the event from Power Rangers convention Power Morphicon. The renamed convention would move to the Crowne Plaza Columbus North in 2018.
AnthrOhio was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but returned in 2022.
