Megaplex Online is the online iteration of the pre-existing Megaplex furry convention hosted annually in Orlando, Florida. Its first convention was hosted on August 21-23, 2020. Registration was originally $15, but offered reduced pricing to those affected by the economic recession. Registration proceedings went to the C.A.R.E. Foundation charity. The event was hosted on the Hopin.to platform, and consisted of a livestream that featured main events, meetups, games, and panels. Virtual dealer booths and vendors were available by accessing the Hopin portal. There was also a face-to-face service where convention attendees could meet each other on webcam. The dances were streamed live in VRChat.

History[edit]

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Megaplex had little choice but to postpone Megaplex 2020: All Aboard! originally to be hosted on August 21-23, 2020 to the next year in 2021. However, because of the rise of online furry conventions, Megaplex announced[1] on July 1, 2020 that they will be hosting their annual convention online. The selected charity is The C.A.R.E. Foundation.

By the time the convention ended on the 23rd of August, Megaplex Online gathered a total of $10,079.73 USD for the C.A.R.E. Foundation[2] and 571 unique attendees.[3] The convention chairman, Hino Ookami challenged the furry community that he would dye his hair if donations reached $10,000 by the end of the month.[4]
