Mary's short fiction, especially science fiction related, has appeared in a variety of venues, including Jim Baen's Universe, A Field Guide to Surreal Botany, and Belong: Interstellar Immigration Stories.[4]

Her first novel was Otters In Space, originally self-published in July 2010, which was later picked up by furry publisher FurPlanet.[5] A sequel, Otters In Space 2: Jupiter, Deadly, was published in July 2013.[6]

Awards[edit]

Mary has won four Cóyotl Awards, including one for The Canoe Race on 2012 for General Short Story,[8] while her short story, When a Cat Loves a Dog, won the 2014 Ursa Major Award for the category of Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction.[9]

Webcomic[edit]

Mary has her own space opera webcomic, SPACE HOUNDS!, which is created by using photographs of Mary's real life dogs in front of a variety of home-made scenery and props.[10]

Controversy[edit]

Mary's use of AI-generated cover and inside illustrations art on her books led to her being dropped by FurPlanet and Argyll Books in December 2023.[11].

Her membership in the Furry Writers' Guild was similarly revoked on December 18, also because of Mary's advocacy of AI as well as a social media thread[12] regarding AI-generated content and autism.[13][14]

She was also removed as Furlandia 2024's guest of honor[15] for the same reasons.
