HerbstCon (or Die HerbstCon) is a furry convention in the Rhineland-Palatinate region of Germany that was first held in 2003. The German words "Die HerbstCon" literally translates to "the autumn (or fall) con".

History[edit]

HerbstCon 2007 took place over November 01-04 at a Falken youth center club house in Seeheim near Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany. The event eventually moved to a new location near Limburg an der Lahn. Due to the limited space (up to 40 attendees), guests of previous years get invited first, followed by those on a waiting list. HerbstCon 2017 attracted 36 participants.

The "Spring Edition" was held for the first time from 31 March to 2 April 2006 in a boy scout club house near Fulda, Hesse, Germany with 15 participants.

The following year, the Spring Edition was held from 30 March to 1 April 2007 in Phillipsthal, Hesse, Germany. Registration was closed when the maximum capacity of 20 participants was reached. The last Spring Edition took place in 2014.

HerbstCon 2009 was held on 29 October-1 November.

HerbstCon 2012 was held over October 11-14, 2012.

HerbstCon 2013 was held over October 3-6, 2013.[1]

HerbstCon 2014 took place over October 2-5, 2014.[2]

HerbstCon 2015 was held over October 1-4, 2015.[3]

HerbstCon 2016 was held over September 30 - October 3, 2016.

HerbstCon 2017 took place again from September 30 to October 3, 2017.

Background[edit]

HerbstCon is famous for its cozy atmosphere and excellent self-cooked food. It is reminiscent of meetings from the early days of furry fandom, before elaborate programming, events, registration, badges, conbooks and timetables or the like could be found. Among the guests are many well-known German artists and organizers of other European conventions and meets. This is their "payback" for contributing to the fandom: a relaxing weekend! HerbstCon was organized by kovu and somewolf. Since 2015 Kayjay is taking charge of it.
