Furry houses are private residences which are widely known and house either large numbers of furries or publicly list themselves for special gatherings and events in the furry community.
An older and more generic name for such fannish houses (dating back to "the Golden Age" of SF-lit fandom) is Slan Shack, after a 1946 novel by A. E. van Vogt. Furry Houses are just the current furry fandom version of Slan Shacks. Furry houses are especially numerous in Australia owing to the strong culture of share houses amongst young people there.
