Garry Kilworth is an author of a number of novels.
Writing[edit]
Most of these purely involve human characters, but he has written three naturalistic animal fantasy novels: Hunter's Moon: A Story of Foxes (1989), Midnight's Sun: A Story of Wolves (1990) and Frost Dancers: A Story of Hares (1991?) .
He is also the author of The Welkin Weasels series, the first of which, Thunder Oak, was published in 1997, and the most recent - Heastward Ho! - in 2003.
Bibliography[edit]
- Hunter's Moon: A Story of Foxes (1989) -The two main characters are Red Foxes: O-ha the vixen, and Camio, an escapee from a zoo. Hunter's Moon is set in our own world, with the assumption that related animal species communicate in their own language. There is an element of mysticism both in retold stories and in many of the animal characters' beliefs and experiences.
- Frost Dancers: A Story of Hares (1991) - In Frost Dancers we follow the life of the blue mountain hare Skelter as he is taken from his Scottish Highland home to the flat English countryside to be put in a hare coursing event. After escaping, Skelter must adapt to the landscape and the lifestyle of the field hare, and face an unknown danger. The books follow the natural lives of their animal characters who speak, have their own cultures, societies and mysticisms.
