Colin Raccoon and Nicol Firefox

Colin, also known as Nicol Firefox (real name Colin Matthew Palmer; born September 24,[1] 1975 - died November 15, 2014), was a furry fan and fursuiter who lived in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Fandom inolvement[edit]

Colin was a webmaster for furry.org.nz, and (as Nicol) the owner of Cub Central. Between 2009 and 2011, Colin was on the staff of FurcoNZ, acting as website administrator and dealing with IT support. In 2010 he was also a sous-chef on the kitchen team.[citation needed]

Fursonas[edit]

Colin's main fursona, a raccoon, was sometimes called Colin Raccoon to distinguish it from his real-life self. In addition to his raccoon fursona, Colin also had a red panda character named Nicol Firefox, who Colin played in a fursuit.

Media[edit]

Colin was interviewed by Bruce Holloway of the Waikato Times for the September 16, 2006, article Fur fantasy fanatics only[2], which briefly describes furry fandom in Hamilton, and in New Zealand as a whole.

The same year, Colin appeared with and without his fursuit on Eating Media Lunch, a satirical news program that airs on New Zealand's TV2.[3] On the program, Colin talked about various aspects of furry fandom and fursuiting. After seeing artwork on furry.org.nz, the interviewer asked Colin for his opinions on furotica and bestiality.[citation needed]

Colin also appeared on television in Bringing Out the Animal in You, a three-and-a-half-minute segment that aired on November 6, 2006 on New Zealand's TV3.

Death[edit]

Colin died suddenly on November 15, 2014, at the age of 39.[4][5]
