3D modelers, more commonly known as known as 3D artists, create computer graphics that utilize the Cartesian coordinates (X–Y–Z) on a 2-dimensional digital canvas for the purposes of performing calculations and rendering 2D/3D images.

Some of the most widely used 3D computer graphics software include Maya, ZBrush, RenderMan, Rhino, LightWave 3D, Cinema 4D, 3DS Max, and Blender, among others, a variety of computing platforms and operating systems.

These works can be used to create render 2D traditional style media and/or computer animations.
