The Energetic Convention (T.E.C.) is an online furry convention hosted at Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada.

History

The con logo used for the Discord server

T.E.C. was created by Unifox^[1] as a fun experience both on Discord^[2] and VRChat.

• The first T.E.C. was first held on October 25-31, 2020. Attendance: 0
• The second was held on November 5-7, 2021. Attendance: 1
• The third was held April 1-3, 2022. ^[3] Attendance: ~6
• The fourth was held October 14-16, 2022. ^[4] Attendance: 4
• The fifth was held March 31 - April 2, 2023.^[5] Attendance: 5
• The sixth was held October 6 - 8, 2023. Attendance: 10
• The seventh is scheduled for April 12 - 14, 2024! Expected attendance: 15

Logo

The T.E.C. logo design was based on the logo for the city the con is based in (Fort St. John).

Mascot

Tecie the fox (they/them) is the mascot for T.E.C. They were designed by Flare.^[6]

Services

The Discord server has several chat rooms available prior to the event. During the convention, it offers several channels such as con info, a text chat for the main con floor, a chat with links to the VR instances being used for events, a chat for signing up for the dealer's den, some VC's for the main con floor, and chats for the dealer's den stations.

On VRChat, there are open instances in the virtual world such as the main landing area with rooms, and events that hosted in various worlds around. Once the opening is done, there is a hangout time, then the VRC world instance used for opening is kept up for the duration of the con. Once an event is done, the instance used is closed.

In 2022, T.E.C. added online games, a fursuit meet & greet, and DJ streams to its programming in an effort to expand beyond solely VR based events.^[7]
