Israeli Furs/Israeli furs (pl. Israeli Furries/Israeli furries), also known as Israel Furs (stylized as ILFurs), refers to both the furries in the furry fandom community in Israel or overseas diaspora, as well as some of the social groups, online platforms, websites, and events associated with it.

History
The Israeli furry community began forming in the early 2000s through online forums and chat platforms and small-scale meetups, including IRC networks such as AnthroChat and FurNet. One of the earliest recorded Israeli IRC furry channels was established on December 12, 2007, by Skie Nightfall, and remained active on AnthroChat until around 2017. A parallel channel on FurNet was also active between 2008 and 2010.

In the late 2000s and early 2010s, the community grew through platforms such as forums, Facebook groups, and web portals. A website titled Israeli Furries, also launched by Skie Nightfall, and maintained by IceDragon, served as a hub for community links. As of 2024, the website is inactive and partially broken due to outdated hosting configurations.

With the growing popularity of Telegram (Telegram Messenger) in Israel around 2012, the community began transitioning to messaging-based groups. The first major Israeli furry Telegram group, titled Israeli Furs, was launched in 2012 and became the primary hub for communication until it was shut down in 2018 due to owners' departure.

After 2021, new groups emerged under similar names, most notably the 18+ group Adult ILFurs, founded by Tzell and later co-managed by Roy Otter and Arnavi. Additional groups such as Israeli Furs - 18+ SFW (opened by Kovuah), and Furry Fellas - חברים פרוותיים (created by Catwell) contributed to the diversification of the community's structure.

Discord servers, art-sharing hubs, and event planning groups such as IL Furmeets further expanded the community’s activities, leading to in-person events such as the Villa Furmeet and public outreach panels, including the 2024 ICON Festival appearance.

Community
As of 2023, the Israeli furry community includes an estimated 400 members, with around 50 active fursuiters. Community members come from a wide range of ages and backgrounds, and express interest in areas such as art, fursuiting, gaming, food, and other personal hobbies. While most in-person activity is centered around Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan, online interaction takes place primarily through platforms such as Telegram and Discord.

Hebrew is the primary language used within the community. However, some groups operate bilingually or post announcements and content in both Hebrew and English for several reasons: some members find it easier to communicate in written English; it helps integrate new Olim (immigrants to Israel) into the local fandom; and in some cases, it supports interaction with the broader international furry community. As a result, communication in both Hebrew and English is common across several community platforms.

Sub Communities
A small number of Israeli furries identify with SFW babyfur or cub-style characters. Within Israel this is generally understood as a non-sexual artistic niche focused on young anthropomorphic characters, cute aesthetics and gentle roleplaying.
Local participants operate in adult-only spaces and maintain strict SFW guidelines. Their presence is low-key, but they form one of several sub-communities within the wider Israeli furry fandom.

Social media
IRC
Before the rise of social apps and websites, the Israeli furry community was active on two IRC chat networks: AnthroChat and FurNet.

The Israeli Furs IRC channels played a role in the early online structure of the community. Both were founded by Skie Nightfall.

* #ilfurs on AnthroChat – Opened on 31 January 2008 and remained active until around 2016, when the community transitioned to platforms like Telegram.
* #ilfurs on FurNet – Opened on 1st February 2008, but saw less activity and was discontinued by the end of 2009.

Facebook
During the 2010s, some Israeli furry activity was organized through Facebook. Over time, as Telegram gained popularity, most users migrated away from Facebook, and its use within the community became limited.

* Groups:
** Israel Furry Fandom.

Forums
In 2016, community member Simba launched an online forum dedicated to the Israeli furry community. It remained active until mid-2017 but eventually became inactive due to low participation. The forum served as a place for structured discussions and announcements. An archived version of the forum remains accessible via the Wayback Machine.

Furry Amino
Several Israeli furry communities were created on Furry Amino in the late 2010s. Despite initial activity, these groups did not see sustained growth, and most users eventually migrated to Telegram or Discord. As of the mid-2020s, Israeli furry presence on Amino is minimal.

Telegram
Telegram is widely used by members of the Israeli furry community for communication, event coordination, and discussion. The first major Telegram group, titled Israeli Furries (stylized as ILfurs), was launched in 2016 and served as a central hub for several years. It was closed in 2021 due to inactive ownership.

* Groups:
** חברים פרוותיים – Founded and managed by Catwell, is a separate community that began as a private chat and expanded to a public group (57 members).
** Adult ILFurs 18+ SFW – Founded by Tzell in 2019 and later co-managed by Roy Otter and Arnavi (250 members).
** Israeli Furs – 18+ SFW – Established in 2023 by Kovuah, co-administered with Kip The Dutchie (156 members).
** Israeli Furries - Founded by Roy Otter in 2018, is an all-ages group (161 members).

Discord
Discord is used by Israeli furries for voice chats, gaming coordination, art sharing, and general discussion. Early servers were created by users such as Karleo and Kyubimon, which were later merged or succeeded by another community server owned by Pumpkin.
Majority of active Discord servers are connected to the Telegram groups, with various text and voice channels supporting interests and online activity.

* Groups:
** General community for all ages server owned by Pumpkin.cn
** Safe For Work (SFW) art-sharing server founded in 2024 by Rutthie_Tutti. In August 2025, the owner decided to shut down the server to focus more on her studies.

Steam
The gaming site Steam is also used for furry Israeli social media interaction.

* Groups:
** Israelfurrys – Co-founded by Zing and Jazzing, this group was previously active in the early 2010s and included around 175 members. The group was used for casual and gaming discussions.
** Israelfurs – Created by Crazy Wolf, it hosted 44 members and served a similar function as Israelfurrys.

As gaming discussions shifted to Discord and other platforms, both Steam groups saw reduced use and are currently inactive.

Websites and others
Active
Events
IL Furmeets
The IL Furmeets is a Telegram group used as a platform for organizing public furry gatherings in Israel. It helps coordinate regular meetups, food-related events, fursuit walks, and other local activities. The group allows individual community members to post or plan meetups, as well as announce large-scale events.

Villa Furmeet
The Villa Furmeet is a private annual event hosted by members of the Israeli furry community. It typically takes place in a rented villa and includes an overnight stay, catered food, social activities, games, and themed celebrations. The event is usually held around Halloween, and participation is limited to registered attendees.

* 2022 – Held from October 31 to November 1 in Hadera, with 47 participants. Activities included a Dungeons & Dragons session, a Fursuit 101 lecture, a communal dinner, poolside socializing, and a Halloween party. The event was organized by admins from the Adult ILFurs group: Roy Otter, Arnavi, and Hoot Minerva.
* 2023 – Planned for October 30–31, with all 60 participant slots filled within five minutes of registration opening. The event was ultimately postponed due to the outbreak of the 2023 Israel–Hamas war.
* 2024 – Held on October 30–31 with 42 participants. Featured events included a Halloween party, pool access, board games, and a hosted Kahoot! trivia session themed around the global furry fandom and Israeli furry community lore. The event was organized by admins from the Adult ILFurs group: Roy Otter, Arnavi, and Jazzing. This year also marked the first time the Villa Furmeet used additional volunteers, referred to as Meetops.
* 2026 – Held from June 3 to June 5 in Netanya, with 51 participants. Held as an ILFurs holiday retreat under the theme "Kiti Resort". Featured events included a Breaking the Ice social game, a party, yoga sessions, a Kahoot! quiz, pizza night, and a movie screening. Participants also took part in a tiki-themed scavenger hunt in which a character known as the Tiki Mask claimed to have lost his tiki statues around the villa and enlisted attendees to find and return them, with successful participants earning the honor of the Tiki Mask. The gathering concluded with the announcement that one of the event managers would be retiring from his role.

Public outreach
In October 2024, members of the Israeli furry community hosted a public panel titled "אל תמשוך לי בזנב: מבוא ל'פורי פאנדום" ("Don't Pull My Tail: Introduction to the Furry Fandom") at the ICON Festival in Tel Aviv. The panel was presented by community members Jazzing and Lino The Fox, and introduced attendees to the core concepts and terminology of the furry fandom, and the development of the community in Israel, and included an open Q&A segment.

The session also featured a live Fursuiting 101 demonstration, which explained what fursuiting is, how it works, and how to interact respectfully with fursuiters. Attendees were invited to meet and engage with local fursuiters, including Baleus Blueberry, Siphen, CrazyWolf, and Kin Skyhunter, alongside the presenters.

Conventions
Local conventions
As of 2025, there is no official dedicated Israeli furry convention. Israeli furries have occasionally participated in local science fiction, fantasy, and anime conventions as an alternative. These events, while not furry-specific, often include elements such as cosplay, fan art, and costuming/cosplay, which overlap with furry interests.

Community members regularly attend the following conventions:
* Harucon – A convention focused on Japanese animation and culture.
* Olamot – A two-day fan convention dedicated to science fiction and fantasy.
* ICON Festival – An annual fan festival centered on science fiction, fantasy, and role-playing games.

These conventions offer Israeli furries opportunities for visibility, casual meetups, fursuiting, and engagement with the broader local fan community.

International conventions
Israeli furries have participated in major international furry conventions across Europe, often traveling abroad in coordinated groups to engage with the wider fandom.

Commonly attended events include:
* Eurofurence (Germany)
* Confuzzled (United Kingdom)
* NordicFuzzCon (Sweden)

At NordicFuzzCon, Israeli attendance has grown in recent years. In 2024, the event documented 32 Israeli attendees; that number increased to 39 in 2025, reflecting the community's growing interest in international conventions. Some Israeli attendees have also contributed to volunteering, panel hosting, and other community-driven activities while abroad.
