EAST, or EAST-CON, is a convention in Eastern Germany. With the permanent closure of Tropicon (due to changing land use rules for the nature preserve where that event occurred), a consensus was arrived at to collect several other events in East Germany together into a singular convention.

The name of the convention is an acronym for "Episches Abfeiern Streunender Tiere" which translates into English language as "Epic Partying of Straying Animals".

Programming and accommodations
The convention offers accomodation for at least to 460 guests in the Ringberg Hotel. More info HERE

Events at the first EAST include a dance, karaoke, Iron Artist, and game show panel.
Meanwhile more events were added, like a volleyball tournament, a paper chase, art auction, a fursuit walk and many more.

Yamavu: some updates and cleanup

update
Tyson Tan, previously known as Extvia, is an artist from the People's Republic of China who mostly specializes in anthropomorphic art of various genres.

He is arguably most famous for his cyberpunk "SYNC" series, his portrayal of the five 2008 Olympic mascots and for the cyber squirrel mascot of the free painting application Krita.

Collaboration
Extvia was one of the three members of the art studio "Team Mixill" from 2003 to 2007. Extvia's duties on the team included character and world design, painting, and English translation of Team Mixill's two main projects, inter.Natal (IN) and Equa (EQ). After Team Mixill broke up in 2007, Extvia started his own projects reflecting the themes of the two main mixill projects. SYNC and Oasis were created; SYNC being comparable to the futuristic theme of inter.Natal, and Oasis being comparable to Equa.

Furry artist

2013-08-07T15:13:11Z

Yamavu: /* Making money as a furry artist */ +archive link

A furry artist or anthro artist is a person who creates artistic works with the furry fandom in mind as the target audience, or who creates anthropomorphic art of interest to the fandom. The works of a furry artist are called furry art.

Generally, the term is restricted to visual artists who create drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures, and other types of visual works traditionally thought of as "art." Those who write furry stories are usually called furry writers.

Online galleries
A large number of online galleries exist that are exclusively furry art or are friendly to furry artists. This list includes only some of them.

The connection to furry fandom
Most furry artists have an active connection to furry fandom. Many attend furry conventions and furmeets, and some even organize specialized artist furmeets. Furry MUCKs, Internet forums, and IRC chats are as popular amongst furry artists as with the rest of the furry community. Typically, a furry artist utilizes these avenues not only as social tools but as a means of advertising his or her work.

However, a small portion of furry artists have little or no involvement in furry fandom. They may avoid fan social activities out of lack of interest, discomfort with the public reputation of furry fandom, dislike of the furry social community, or other personal reasons. This lack of personal involvement does not necessarily prevent such artists from selling their artwork to furry fans.

Making money as a furry artist
While some furry artists are able to make a living from their furry artwork, most do not. In general commissions, prints, and other art sales make a significant income only for very popular and well-known furry artists. Artists with a smaller fanbase may make a small amount of money from their furry art; this is predominantly through commissions (rather than prints or original non-custom works).

A large majority of furry artists create their artwork for the enjoyment of the subject matter. They share it on online art galleries without any expectation of sales.

There are sometimes rumors of a bias against hiring furry artists by art project directors. This is meant to be due to the pornographic nature of some furry art - however, according to one, the truth is that it's just hard to get furry artists to draw anything but furries.

Art trade

2013-08-07T14:57:37Z

Yamavu: +difference gift art

Art trade is a term used to describe the act when two artists make drawings for each other, as a part of an pre-arranged trade.

Usually, an art trade works as a regular commission, but instead of paying the other party with money they are paid with a drawing from the commissioner. Commonly, art trades are treated as regular commissions, meaning that both involved parties can make requests on what they would like to see drawn.

Artists exchanging gift art is not strictly percieved as an art trade. Even though both recieve a custom image from the other, at least one artist didn't have the option to request.

Iron Artist is an annual artist competition held at Further Confusion, modeled after Iron Chef, a culinary TV show. Three artists are randomly selected out of those who sign up for the competition, and are called forth from the audience to throw a gauntlet to an incumbent Iron Artist of their choice. (Unlike the original show, each Iron Artist gets to choose their own specialty title; past titles have included "comic", "cute", "spotty", and "violence".)

Within 30 minutes, in front of the cheering audience, each of the three Iron Artists and each of the three challengers must produce a work of art in their respective category, to be judged by a set of judges (usually Guests of Honor or previous competitors). The hard part, however, is the medium, which none of the artists are aware of until the start of the show:

* 2001: sidewalk chalk
* 2002: cake icing
* 2003: Sharpie® marker tattoos
* 2004: balloon animals
* 2005: stained glass (paints on acrylic panes)
* 2006: pasta/macaroni
* 2007: (a generic version of) Lite-Brite
* 2008: vase painting

Beginning with 2002, the format of Iron Artist more closely followed that of Iron Chef. A roving floor reporter was added, and commentary during the competition was provided by Nicodemus and a pair of color commentators. Battle Cake Icing also included an introductory "medium video", featuring the tag-line "Like a breaking wave..."

The event was created by Higgins Dragon. It has been run by Nicodemus since 2005 with continuing support from Higgins.

One of the great champions of the competition is oCeLoT, who won her Iron Artist Spotty title in 2002 and held it until 2007, at which point she handed over to Iron Artist Control Point, Egypt Urnash.

The current longest-standing winner is Marci McAdam. She has participated in and won every Iron Artist competition except for 2003 when she was unable to attend Further Confusion.

Iron Artist

Yamavu:

:This article is about a FC event. For the personal artists' challenge, see Iron Artist (challenge).

* 2001: sidewalk chalk
* 2002: cake icing
* 2003: Sharpie® marker tattoos
* 2004: balloon animals
* 2005: stained glass (paints on acrylic panes)
* 2006: pasta/macaroni
* 2007: (a generic version of) Lite-Brite
* 2008: vase painting

Iron Artist (challenge)

2012-10-08T18:10:42Z

Yamavu: creation with some basic info

stub
:This article is about a personal artists challenge. For the FC event, see Iron Artist.
Iron Artist is a non-standard personal challenge for some graphic artists. It usually includes producing a greater than usual quantity of images over pre-defined period of time.

The most common challenge are 100 images drawn over a period of about three months, meaning one picture per day at least.

Based upon this premise every artist varies this challenge. Some do commissions (which are usually inexpensive sketches) while others stick to a list of themes or a predefined set of characters.
Bronze Artist
A closely related term bronze artist includes the notion that the artist actually does this challenge to earn money, doing all of the pictures as commissions or selling the produced images at conventions.

Yamavu: +image

Kogenta (白虎のコゲンタ, Byakko no Kogenta) is a anthropomorphic tiger character in the Onmyou Taisenki anime series.

Kogenta is a Shikigami (Ritual God) which is kind of spirit in Japanese mythology summoned to serve a practitioner of onmyōdō, much like a western familiar. He plays as Riku Tachibana's Shikigami in an anime called Onmyou Taisenki.

__TOC__

The Shikigami
There are 24 families of Shikigami (three per family for a total of 72) to represent each Solar term. These monsters are extremely powerful, and their special abilities (hissatsu waza, 必殺術, literally 'certain-kill techniques') are activated when their owners use certain sequences of In. Every Shikigami has its own In sequences and some have special weapons, which are also activated by the In. Every Shikigami has its own name and a class/family. For example, Byakko no Kogenta's name means Kogenta of the Byakko (白虎 White Tiger, one of the four Japanese great Gods; the other three are Seiryuu (青龍 blue dragon), Genbu (玄武, representing the family of turtle-type shikigami), and Suzaku (朱雀, phoenix)) family. Class names are usually named after gods and flowers.

When a Drive is activated for the first time, the Shikigami will appear behind a shoji screen and ask what the summoner desires. If it is to the Shikigami's liking, it will accept and a contract will be formed. Once the terms of the contract have been fulfilled, the Toujinshi and Shikigami will part. However, when a contract is broken (Shikigami dies or Toujinshi tries to break the contract), the Toujinshi loses all the memories built since when he first contracted with the Shikigami and usually wanders around lost and depressed while the Shikigami is sent to Naraku (hell).

Kogenta's profile
Kogenta is a Shikigami, and belongs to the Byakko species (白虎, white tiger), known for their trust and loyalty. Even though it describes him, he still is vulgar and pretentious, and has an hyperactive nature. He has seems to have some unwilling feline gestures, as fur bristling, or hissing sounds when angry. He owns a sword, called "Saikaido Kotetsu".

In the manga version, he's the Shikigami of a boy, Yakumo, who requests his help to fight against the devil who had petrified his father. In the anime version, he is the Shikigami of an weak orphan, Riku Tachibana, who has to save the world.
The story of the manga tells that his former name was Akatsuki (白虎のアカツキ, Byakko no Akatsuki). He has been given this name by Yakumo's father, before Yakumo called him "Kogenta"(コゲンタ). It seems he doesn't mind about what his name is, as long as he has one.

Nevertheless, in the anime, he introduces himself as "the great Kogenta of the Byakko" (Ore-sama ha Byakko no Kogenta) when summoned by Riku for the first time.
Kogenta doesn't show a lot of what he likes, except fighting. In the anime version, he admits in an episode that the sound of a cat bell used to make him purr a lot (it could explain why he wears one on his tail), reacts violently everytime he is comparated, or said to be a cat. ("Ore wa neko janee ! Byakko desu !" - "I'm not a cat ! I'm a White Tiger!")

Yamavu: /* Art Theft */ how horrible

Welcome to WikiFur! Thank you for registering an account. We here at WikiFur look forward to working with you. Let us know if you need any help not already provided. If you would like help creating an article or just editing it, don't hesitate to consult the Furry Book of Style or just contact a administrator. Have a nice day! :-)

Thank you also for your help with the images. However, there was some concern over the nature of the iamges placed in Male and Female. While both pictures were indeed very artistic and well-done, there was concern because both are high-traffic sites (over 200 links each!) Which means there is an increased likelihood of those images popping up in a place where said images aren't entirely welcome (for example, work). I've since replaced them with SFW imagery, but I'd like to thank you for your contributions to Wikifur and hope you continue to help us improve!--Kendricks Redtail 09:22, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Yamavu: /* ČeSFuR 6 (2010) */ update

ČeSFuR is a furry convention in the Czech Republic that offers indoor and outdoor activities. The spelling is a reference to the name of the country from 1990 to 1993: ČSFR (Česká a Slovenská Federativní Republika = Czech and Slovak Federative Republic). Though many of the participants do not speak English, foreign attendees are welcome.

History
Yamavu is an artist in Austria also known by the name Stalker or StalkerAT. The main media are colored pencils, alcohol markers, watercolors, Photoshop and oC, but there are also sparse vector works as well as plushies, also finished a fursuit in late 2008. He is able to communicate in German, Austro-Bavarian and English and is able to understand French and Japanese.

Yamavu's Name
* Since Stalkers have been involved in quite many unfriendly conotations, StalkerAT seemed not like a very good public name. It was changed mid June 2007.

Characters
Yamavu
Basically a long eared brown-yellow canid with a long fluffy tail. He is a shapeshifter though very limited, can change size (between a Chihuahua and a large wolf), gender (male, female, neutral) and between bi- and quadruped. He can also grow brown-yellow wings.
* Yamavu
: a rather normal anthromorph, sometimes wielding a sword. No digitgrade legs.
* Yamy
: a small non-anthromorphic version. Often used as a mascot.
* Inbetweener styles
: As time progresses some versions appeared, that don't belong to either of the above character templates.

The species of this character hasn't been actively developed, but has naturalized as Bunnywolf. After some discussion about his outward similarity to Pif in summer 2009, Yamavu shall be regular dog.

Zoot-sex

Yamavu: clean up

Zoot-sex, also known as zoot sex or fursuit sex), is a furryspeak term for having (simulated or not) sex while one or all parties are wearing a fursuit.

The act can consist of clothed genital to genital stimulation ("dry humping"), or actual sexual intercourse via plushie-like SPH openings.

Zoot-sex is a paraphilia practiced by a very small subset of the fursuit community.

Plastic mesh
Using only plastic mesh, sewing cord and a little wire for structure one can achieve a very thin head base

Optional: Metal Support
Eyes
Large Plastic Bowl technique
Using parts of a white plastic bowl, acrylic paint for the iris and a semitransparent black fabric (Chiffon) for the pupil. Assembly via hot glue. A Tip: Hot water might make the plastic bowl softer and better to cut.
see Plastic Eyes Tutorial
Plastic Half spheres
Fabric only
Usage of canvas for the transparent parts. Acrylics for coloration.

Teeth
Bought
Veterinary Pathologists' Assistants are known to built real looking teeth, but it's sometimes difficult to make the teeh look good on a costume, especially if the bough teeth were not planed with from the start.
Fimo and other modeling clays
Nose
Foam with cover
Noses could be build like every other part of the head using foam and some sort of cover material.

Suitable materials include latex, fleece or other fabrics.
Modeling clays
Using modeling clay (air drying, baked, or burnt) forming the nose is extremely easy as no sewing is required. The resulting form can then be painted and sewn and/or glued to the head.
Tennisball Method
If you already have a form that suits your design, for example a cut tennisball, you only need to paint the outside or use a cover material without too many difficulties.

Body
Made of Fur fabric, the problem here is to sew a fitting suit.
Bought pattern
Always an option, there are many one part bodysuit patterns for sale.
Tape construction
Put on a one-way paper suit and fit it to yourself with ductape
Resewing cloths
Take a cloth, carefully rip it apart and take the result as a pattern.

Hands
Feet
Appandages
Tail
===Wire==
A wire base, while almost too hard, makes a tail stable and, if joints are added, quite movable. Animatronics are also an option.
Foam
A foam base makes a tail quite soft to touch, but once in form it stays that way and swings only when ass-shaking.
Wool
Sew the tail and insert some wool to give it volume. Easy, affordable, but not very modifyable. Insert a chain for better swing.
Wings
Bought
Depends on
Foam
Plastic mesh
BigBlueFox (often just called BBF) is a German furry artist and fursuiter who often portrays himself as a blue fox of varying size. He's also a video, photography and music enthusiast, active staff member of Eurofurence and loves spicy food.

BBF was the Guest of Honour at Megaplex 8 in July, 2009.

Art
In the past, BBF has drawn mostly cartoony art, sketched and inked on paper and then colored digitally. For a brief period he moved on into the world of real-media, producing his cartoony art on bristol board, colored with markers. In the last year, he cut back on classic 2D artwork and began to delve deeper into the world of 3D animation.

Music
BigBlueFox has been the resident DJ at Eurofurence and Mephit Mini Con since 2002 and is a regular at furry conventions and events such as Further Confusion, Anthrocon, Confuzzled or the Cologne Furdance. He used to produce his own dance music a few years ago, and he still produces megamixes.

Fursuiting
Since 2005 he entered the field of fursuiting and currently owns three fursuits:
* BigBlueFox (blue fox, made by Arend Studios, 2006)
* Ominom (coyote, made by himself, 2007)
* Lou C. Fur (devil wolf, made by Arend Studios, bought used from Falli 2008)
* Snirf (coyote, made by OneFurAll, to be finished April 2009)

Eurofurence
Since Eurofurence 10, BBF has been lead of videography and DVD production for Eurofurence. Together with Thalian, he's also organising the Fursuit Photo Shooting. He has also performed in several other staff positions in the past, including Dealer's Den manager, webdesigner for the websites of EF 10, EF 12 and EF 13, and conbadge designer for EF 11 and EF 12.

Video
The best way to find BBF is to watch out for big, fancy cameras, as he's an avid photographer and videographer. He has produced several short clips and videos for F8K, the DoPE show, and Further Confusion, and has helped with camera work at Anthrocon. He's also known for producing convention videos, mostly from his visits to Anthrocon, Further Confusion and Mephit Mini Con. His works are usually released under the name of a fictional production company, BBF Television.

* Yamavu
: a rather normal anthromorph, sometimes wielding a sword. No digitgrade legs.
* Yami
: a small non-anthromorphic version. Often used as a mascot.
* Inbetweener styles
: As time progresses some versions appeared, that don't belong to either of the above character templates.

The species of this character hasn't been actively developed, but has naturalized as Bunnywolf. After some discussion about his outward similarity to Pif, Yamavu shall be regular dog.

These characters were regularly drawn or played in non-compputer RPGs.
