Inflatophilia

2008-09-19T03:09:28Z

Wsoul:

Inflatophilia is the strong attraction to and/or love of inflatable objects. As with other paraphilias, the attraction is frequently erotic or sexually stimulating.

Inflatophiles may enjoy any number of different styles of inflatable items or combinations thereof. Popular items include traditional latex balloons, inflatable furniture, and inflatables made for the beach and pool which can range from air floats to pool toy animals. Although sexual interest is common, some inflatophiles merely find air-filled structures pleasurable to view, interact with, and appealing to the touch.

The term can also be used to refer to those with interests related to inflation, expansion or weight gain of other people and things which may not be made of rubber, vinyl or other traditional inflatable materials, though this is less common. Taken in a strictly literal sense, the term refers to any sexual interest connected to the overall growth in size of one of the subjects, and as such does have some overlap with macrophilia, fatfurs, and to a lesser extent, breast expansion, hypertrophilia, and variants on the body part growth theme.

It is not uncommon to find inflatophiles in the furry fandom who are also balloonies and have inflatable-themed characters. Rubberfurs may also be naturally attracted to inflatophilia.

The InflatioNation (aka The IN) is one of the furry fandom's largest inflation communities. Originally, it was an alternative to other mature inflation sites so that viewers could enjoy non-pornographic inflation. Guest can view submissions by artists and authors, both tame & mature, as well as viewing inflation clips from various cartoons & movies.

*Website: http://dupo.sirkain.net/
*Administrators: Dupo (site owner), Sirkain (server owner)
*Start Date: September 1999
*Forum Closure: 16 June 2007

History
In September of 1999, the site began as a small page for inflation artists to show-off their non-mature art. As the site grew, the site's owner, Dupo, sought additional assistance and brought aboard Rubbertex Raccoon.

After a few facelifts and many issues with different hosts, the site landed on Sir Kain's server in 2002. Around this time, Rubbertex had resigned and Sir Kain, along with the help of Scooter, began assisting in site administration and maintenance. Now having a permanent home, and a stable server, it received another facelift in 2004 and another in September 2006 to mark the site's 7th anniversary.

On October 23, 2006, the moderator Sirkain announced his resignation from the running of the InflatioNation. This was his leaving notice:

:I would like to step down as owner of the IN. *shrug* Just dont have the time, interest or care to keep maintiaing this. For what I remember it as years back, has long since vanished and been dead. I also seem to just get too busy with Rl to really be able to dedicate worthy admin/owner time into the In itself, and i feel it should go to someone who does have the time and desire for it.

:I'm not asking for the IN to get off my server - far from it. I just dont want to maintain it anymore or call the shots. If you care to discuss this with me, you can e-mail me or hit me on any of the Im services. Should all be in my profile.

In February 2007, Scooter resigned as forum moderator and many of his administrator duties within the IN. He did not immediately cite his reasons but it later emerged to have been from the increasing amount of furry drama that had struck the forums. He also later revealed that he will still aid in the running of the site, but take a less direct approach in doing so. On the 14th of March, Dupo announced that Kuya and Tori Belliachi would take lead roles in moderating the forums.

On June 15th, 2007, Dupo announced that the site forums would close down; although the galleries and main website would remain open. The forum closed its doors on June 16th, after 8 years in operation.

The day the closure of the forums was announced a mass exodus took place, new forums sprung up in replacement of the deceased. The most popular of these was by far Inflata-Furs (website), as operated by Fur Affinity's administrator Alkora. Some members simply admitted that the end was the end; and did not register to any of the new sites.

Tori Andrew Belliachi (also known as Robomilk and Reverend Belliachi) is the fursona of Shaun Hargreaves, a furry artist and writer known for producing a variety of websites and videos. He is a member of the fatfur and inflation sub-fandoms.

He is also referred to as the Furry Jesus by some people, however refutes the term and no longer condones the use of this name.

His furry family composes of Kbryme, Daryl, Angelic Wolf and Hiro Judgement.

Tori named himself after Tory Belleci of MythBusters fame as a means of honouring the man's work.

Until May 2007
Before May of 2007, Tori's fursona was a wolf, often described as "a vampire wolf with the mentality of a fox," highlighting his love of foxes and bats without physcially being one.

May 2007 to present
Following a meeting with his spirit guide via a psychic it was concluded that he was actually a folf, a 82% wolf, 18% fox hybrid species. The character was changed accordingly, however many of the original attributes were retained, the tail and muzzle structure being the only major changes.

Both of these forms include various abilities, most prominantly time travel; transformation into a bat (affectionately named Tori Battyachi) and nonmorphic wolf; as well as mild telekenesis.

Real life
Shaun Hargreaves (born 1991) is the child of a Malaysian mother and English father. He based his fursona much on himself; they both share the middle name of "Andrew" for example. He first found the furry fandom in November 2005 after doing a Google search relating to Scooby Doo and finally decided to become an active member in May 2006.

Shaun does not hide his furry activities - his family, friends and school tutors are all aware of his furriness and in most cases actively support him. It is this reason that it is common for him to be seen in public areas wearing conbadges, his tail or collar.

Shaun has a strong interest in the concept of time travel, particularly characters such as The Doctor from British drama Doctor Who and Hiro Nakamura from American series Heroes. Because of this link with his fursonas abilities, Tori has been drawn in similar situations as Hiro and the Doctor on a number of occasions.

Roles in the fandom
As a member of the furry fandom, Tori appears to have taken it upon himself to aid the progression of furry through any means possible. This includes the founding of Furry Media and The Furtean Times as a means of showcasing new and upcoming artists, writers and jouralists.

Work on websites includes being an ex-moderator of The InflationNation's forum and the current head of graphic design at MyFursona, as well as a number of small or temporary jobs in other places.

He has also previously ran furmeets, including a private meeting on his birthday in 2007.

In the YouTube Furry War
Following a lot of disruption on YouTube after a furry uprising against anti-furry trolls, Tori entered the action without even noticing; he posted up a video reply to one troll and was soon inundated with comments. More videos followed and a small following gathered around. Soon he was directly challening trolls and teased them to fight him so he could "defuse you like the timebomb of stupidity you are."

In August 2007 he announced he left the war for lack of any good arguments being made against him.

As the Furry Guru
Mere days after the end of the YouTube Furry War series a new series began named Furry Guru, in which Belliachi answered questions from people both in and outside of the fandom. This series has been endorsed by a number of "celebrity" furries including Silentwulf and 2 Gryphon. It is also credited for creating a number of new furries, notably Tamias, a long-term furry spectator.
