A shortcoming that affects every survey on the [[furry fandom]] is the fact that it's impossible to gather a random and representative sample of [[online community|online communities]]. As all of these surveys rely on [[w:Self-selection_bias|self-selected]] samples, they may have oversampled furries who have a greater interest in the fandom, a more positive opinion of it, or who simply spend more time online.

D.]]t's estimate of only 2% would be even lower than what's been estimated for the general population, however this is likely due to [[W:Social-desirability_bias|social desirability bias]] affecting the results, as 325 of the participants were interviewed in-person, and respondents had to provide identification plus an email address in order to participate in the online survey.

In [[Dr. Sharon Roberts]]' survey respondents were asked to list their kinks and fetishes in an open-ended question. As some zoophilies think of their attraction as a sexual orientation rather than a paraphilia or [[kink]], not all zoophiles may have listed their attraction on this question. Furthermore, only respondents who listed at least one kink were included in the total, hence furries who are [[asexual]] or don't have any kinks are not represented in these results.

As some zoophilies think of their attraction as a sexual orientation rather than a paraphilia or [[kink]], not all zoophiles may have listed their attraction on this question. Furthermore, only respondents who listed at least one kink were included in the total, hence furries who are [[asexual]] or don't have any kinks are not represented in these results.

[[Hsu, K.]] and [[Bailey, J. M]]'s study focused only on participants who identified as [[male]], hence their results are not generalizable to all furries. In that statement, we inferred that the Furry Raiders had refused to release the rooms in their room block. This statement was not entirely accurate. At the time the Furry Raiders had stated that the rooms in the block had been given to Members and Friends and from that, we inferred that they were refusing to release any of the rooms they had reserved. As of April 12, 2017, RMFC 2017 was canceled, [http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/local-news/amid-allegations-of-unpaid-taxes-neo-nazism-and-sex-offender-denver-furry-convention-canceled as reported by] TV Channel 7 News in Denver. Alleged suggestions of why this happened included a tweet by a furry raider{{who}} that a weapon would be brought to RMFC to deal with [[Deo Vacuus]], who threatened to punch Nazis at the con.{{cn}}

This was reported to the hotel/police,{{cn}} which increased the security fee for the convention, well past operational budget.
