eFurry.com was started originally to host a few personal websites, but expanded over time as a small place to host friends and colleagues as well. As of January 2008, the site has been redesigned as a discussion forum for furry fans. Website hosting solutions are still available and open to some members of the fandom, some being free while other solutions require a small monthly payment.

Rym

2007-07-07T16:54:12Z

Tybee: /* External links */

Rym is a story world created by Ollie Canal. It exists as a set of fragments on multiple Web sites, containing many broken links. The author intended it as a world-building project suitable for use in an RPG, but provided information on the setting in a variety of formats: statistics suitable for "Dungeons & Dragons" rules, stories, art, and even psychological diagrams.

Backstory
The world of Rym once contained a highly technological civilization known as the Creator Empire, which used both magic and machinery. The Creators' most ambitious project was the City Mind, an Artificial Intelligence meant to guide their civilization. Though the City Mind benefited society at first, it and the Creators' apparently autocratic government led to war with the gods themselves.

Rym's six gods (representing the traditional four elements, light, and darkness) attempted to humble the Creators with a series of natural disasters. The City Mind responded by launching a massive war effort against the gods and their base on one of the planet's moons. The war devastated the planet and killed all but the youngest of the gods, the sun goddess Kij. Kij gradually worked to revive the world, showing special attention for the otter-like Lutrai. The world reached a roughly medieval level of technology and established substantial nations of humans and other races.

Meanwhile, a race known as the Spiral invaded the region of space around Rym. The Spiral worshipped the Eater, a black hole, and were attracted by the level of death and destruction the world had experienced. To them life itself was a form of deadly radiation, so they began a terraforming project -- the extermination of all life. A series of wars between the Spiral, a Kij-following sect called the Solinar, and various other factions followed, ending in defeat for the Solinar.

In the present time of the setting, the Spiral are gradually expanding their domain and destroying the planet through deliberate pollution and magic; other races are mainly divided against each other and apathetic in the face of this threat.

Races
The most thoroughly described race in Rym is the Lutrai, a race of otter-people who believe their ancestors saved the life of the goddess Kij. They are idealized creatures with mild empathy, innate magic related to life energy, extremely kind and innocent personalities, and a Polynesian-based culture. Though said to be prolific and peaceful, they seem not to have an overpopulation problem, which may have to do with human efforts to enslave them.

Other races mentioned are humans, Skole (arctic wolves), Hoomiku (felines from another planet working to re-establish high technology), Koba (extremely primitive lizard-men), Lapix (rabbit-folk), Cepn (bat-folk whose reigning culture is obsessed with death), Gorg (ultra-capitalist hippo-morphs), Fey (tailed elves), Machines (survivors of the City Mind), and Spirals (undead humanoids in protective suits).

eFurry.com is a small furry webhosting site created by Tybee in 2004.

* Address: http://www.efurry.com/
* Founder: Tybee
* Ran from/to: 2004 - current

eFurry.com was started originally as a personal website. However, Tybee saw the potential of hosting a few friends' websites via subdomain hosting. It wasn't until early 2005 that the doors were opened for anyone to ask for hosting space. Features include 150 megabytes of webspace (additional space may be requested and granted depending on circumstances), PHP, CGI and Perl scripting, and FTP access.

eFurry offers paid options as well. Free users may purchase mySQL database space if necessary and email addresses. Those owning their own domain names may also purchase a monthly account with access to all features, email addresses, a personal control panel, 250 megabytes of space, and 5 gigabytes of bandwidth per month. Additional space and features may be bought separately at very small costs.

eFurry.com is a small furry webhosting site created by Tybee in 2004.

eFurry.com was started originally as a personal website. However Tybee saw the potential of hosting a few friends' websites via subdomain hosting. It wasn't until early 2005 were the doors opened for anyone to ask for hosting space. Features include a hundred megabytes of webspace (more can be made available at no cost if necessary), PHP, CGI and Perl scripting, FTP access, and optional @efurry.com email address available only on special request. mySQL database space can be purchased optionally from eFurry if needed.

eFurry's sister website, FurrySoup, was created in late 2005 for facilitating mailing lists and a potential name change for the domain. There is no word yet what is going to happen. FurrySoup is not yet functional except as a mailing list relay. It is most likely that eFurry will remain in place strictly as an affiliation site over domains under it related to the fandom.

LiveJournal started as a hobby project, but when it hit a popularity boom the developers didn't expect, it turned into a business (though the administrators didn't want to call it one), and users were given the option of paying subscription fees for extra customizability and features which went into server maintenance, bandwidth costs, and accommodating the growing user base.

MUCK

Tybee: /* List of Furry Themed MUCKs */

A MUCK is an online role-playing game that is usually text-based and accessable through telnet, as well as a variety of MUCK clients. The term MUCK doesn't actually stand for anything, but is rather a play on the word "MUSH", which stands for "Multi User Shared Hallucination".

Each MUCK has its own sets of rules and policies. Some MUCKs allow Players to be Out Of Character (OOC) as much as they like, while others require them to be In Character (IC) more often, or always. Rules can vary in different areas of the MUCK.

Plush

2005-08-19T23:38:07Z

Tybee:

A plushie is a slang term for stuffed toys such as a Teddy Bear or, to some limited degree, a Beanie Baby. Dictionary.com defines plush as "A fabric of silk, rayon, cotton, or other material, having a thick deep pile." This is where the word is derived from as most stuffed animals are filled with a cotton or polyester blend and its outer covering made with the same materials.

In the fur fandom, plushie is used to describe any number or types of stuffed animals, although the word is not necessarily limited to animals when used outside the fandom.
