Ty the Saber (also stylized as TyTheSaber), or just Ty (born in 1982 in Long Island, New York, USA; He/Him), is a graymuzzle fursuiter and IT expert who still lives in Long Island, New York with his mate, Warzy Raptor.

Fandom Involvement
Ty has known about the furry fandom and its art community since 2000. He started dating Warszawa in 2017, when they fully introduced him to the fandom by inviting him to a local furmeet. There, he learned about the fandom's love and acceptance.

Since then, Ty has frequently attended local events and conventions and is mostly active on X and Telegram.

Fursona
Ty didn't have a fursona and decided to check around for a fursuit to more fully experience the fandom. He discovered Ty, a black saber-toothed cat with electric blue striping and a mohawk suit who was for sale and fell in love with it, figuring it matched his personality and complemented Warzy's Raptor sona (even though they are of different eras). No discoverable online art or accounts were tied to Ty then.

Ty doesn't have a backstory, but he is playful, funny, and loving.

Fursuit
Ty adopted his fursuit (with rights) from Dusky the Husky on September 15, 2018. He was initially a partial (head, arms, sleeves, paws, and nub tail) and came with a reference sheet and badges. This is the most common suit worn by Ty.

A new fursuit head, Ty 2.0, was delivered on September 26, 2021, by Mango Wolf Works using a DreamVision base. It is styled in a more realistic look.

A third fursuit head, made of leather in the form of a pup hood was created by P&C Creations. It has suede black fur, whiskers, and a blue leather mohawk with small fangs. Ty refers to this one as 'Pup Ty' even though it is styled as a saber-tooth cat.

The Long Island Furs is a social group based on Long Island, New York, USA.

History
The group was founded in the summer of 2006 and mainly comprises furries that live in Suffolk and Nassau County, but may include those in New York City and honorary members. Using Telegram membership as a metric, the group comprises around 340 members. The group is casual and doesn't have an official register.

The group was initially started as a weekly diner runs by the Umgotts Studios crew, including The Kemeeleon, Mitsu, Amadeus, Lunamor, and their friends, Joe Meyer, Thilus, and the Fur Keep crew (Gushi, Michelle Latta, and others).

Other than that, the only furry activity on the island were occasional Eric Kern's furmeets and the annual furry track at I-CON until Nekonaru Letao initiated the Long Island Furs LiveJournal community, officially organizing the group and having their first meetup at Nekonaru's OMGWTFBBQ in August of 2006, which continues to this day.

In addition to the BBQ, the group also frequently has bowling meets, public suiting, game nights, and house parties. Earlier, meets were coordinated over li-furs.org, maintained by Cubbi, but has migrated to the Telegram group.

LIFurs OMGWTFBBQ!, or OMGWTFBBQ!/OMGWTFBBQ, is an annual BBQ meetup hosted by the Long Island Furs.

Overview
OMGWTFBBQ has become the largest and longest-running furry gathering in Long Island, New York, USA.

The BBQ traditionally takes place throughout a two-day weekend at a picnic area of one of the New York State parks on Long Island. It is a free event (except for the park's Vehicle Use Fee) filled with food, fursuiting, games, and visits to the beach and boardwalk. Attendees are urged to join the Telegram group (accessible through the Carrd) for more information, event schedule, and to estimate attendance for logistics.

While the park is closed from Saturday evening to Sunday morning, local furry community sometimes organizes smaller off-site events such as room parties, house parties, or outdoors camping.

TyTheSaber: Added pup Ty and image of Ty 2.0

The Long Island Furs are a social group based on Long Island, New York. The group was founded in summer 2006 and mainly comprises of furries that live in Suffolk and Nassau County, but also includes those in NYC and honorary members. Using Telegram membership as a metric, the group comprises of around 340 members. The group is casual and doesn't have an official register.

History
The group was initially started as weekly diner runs by the Umgotts Studios crew, including The Kemeeleon, Mitsu, Amadeus, Lunamor, and their friends, Joe Meyer, Thilus, and the Fur Keep crew (Gushi, Michelle Latta, and others). Other than that, the only furry activity on the island were occasional Eric Kern's furmeets and the annual furry track at I-CON until Nekonaru Letao initiated the Long Island Furs LiveJournal Community, officially organizing the group and having their first meetup at Nekonaru's OMGWTFBBQ in August of 2006 which continues to this day.

In addition to the BBQ, the group also frequently has bowling meets, public suiting, game nights and house parties. Earlier, meets were coordinated over li-furs.org (by Cubbi) but has migrated to the Telegram groups.
