Ty The Tasmanian Tiger is the first title in a video game series of the same name for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube. It was produced by Krome Studios in 2002.
The sequel, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue, was released in 2004 and was available for PlaySation 2, Xbox, Gamecube, and Game Boy Advance.
In 2005, Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan was released for all the above consoles.

All of the games take place in Austrailia and are highly themed around boomerangs as they are the primary weapon of many characters.

Ty The Tasmanian Tiger
Ty, in a chance meeting with the Bunyip Elder, discovers that his parents - who he had long assumed to be dead - are actually alive. Ty's parents had defeated the evil Boss Cass in battle many years before and in retaliation, Cass imprisoned them in the Dreamtime realm. In order to open the Dreamtime realm and rescue his family, Ty must find the five Talismans and place them into the sockets they once inhabited.

A koala friend of his, Julius, uses a special invention to open portals to places where fire eggs (a type of geode) are located, and when enough are found, he can power a machine that opens portals to the places where the Talismans are located.
After travling through these portals to other places in the Outback, Ty eventually confronts another Tasmanian tiger like himself. It turns out that he was hired by Boss Cass (a cassowary) to stop Ty. He eventually finds Boss Cass who has the last Talisman, and after defeating him with the help of Sly (the enemy tiger who turned out to be Ty's brother), Ty replaces it and his family is safe once again.

Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue
Ty and Shazza run into Ranger Ken who tells them that Boss Cass has escaped from Currawong Jail and has hatched a plan to take over the world with an army of Uber Reptiles, and in order to power them, he needs the warm-blooded energy of mammals. Dennis, the Green Tree Frog, has formed "Bush Rescue", an organization to stop Cass and his minions.

Unlike the previous game, Opals are used as currency and can be traded for items to improve health, purchase mechanical Bunyip keys, and upgrade boomerangs. The game is also free-roaming, and most travel is achieved by Shazza's off-roader. Ty completes missions asigned to him, some relating to Boss Cass and others just to be helpful. After fighting several bosses that Fluffy (a horned lizzard and Boss Cass' number-one operative) sends after Ty, he gains all of the parts necesary to build the Shadow Bunyip, and then he defeats Boss Cass, and saves the town of Burramudgee.

Ty The Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan
Ty and Shazza are summonned to the Dreamtime realm by the Bunyip Elder to help fight a mysterious enemy: the Quinkan. After defeating the Quinkan, Ty goes through training to prepare him should the Quinkan escape to the real world. While teleporting back to Burramudgee, a Quinkan knocks Shazza away from Ty. When Ty emerges from the portal, he finds that six months have passed and that Burramudgee has been overrun. He joins Dennis, a treefrog, in a war against the Quinkan.

Shazza is eventually kidnapped, and Ty has to work with Boss Cass and Fluffy (a horned lizzard) to save Shazza. Boss Cass seems to have reformed as he continues the aid the Bush Rescue team, and they eventually find the Quinkan expert, Gooboo Steve. After finding Steve, he tells them where the secret weapon to defeat the Quinkan is. Once the Shadow Rang and the Shadow Stones have been collected, they confront the Quinking. After his defeat, though, Boss Cass turns on Ty, Shazza and Sly, firing a massive laser at them. Fluffy takes the shot for them all, however, and is then given the status of a hero.

Hehe, pretty funny :-) I'm willing to take a look at the original page, and make sure it's well translated, but the lack of a link to the source complicates things a bit. Could somebody give me a link to it? -- Vadim —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.58.11.44 (talk • contribs) 00:42, 16 August 2005 (UTC)

:You mean to Wikipedia:Human? --Kris Schnee, redefining "Human" since 2006. -- 14:45, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

Do we really need this creationist sticker here? I thought these would only appear in school books of some backwood districts... --131.220.244.38 20:34, 20 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:I would agree that we can leave out the creationists, or would that be considered incorrect in aforementioned districts? (If we leave them in, why not mention Erich von Däniken too, with his theories that humans are descendants of aliens?) --Unci 21:03, 20 Nov 2005 (UTC)

::Because then we'd be leaving out FSMism and the Periodic Table Controversy!
::I've tweaked the language at the beginning of "Origins," to lead not directly to the article "Creationism" but to "Creation-Evolution Controversy." Rather than including exactly one religion-based idea and being biased in that direction, a link to "controversy" is a milder explanation of why this subject gets people so riled and exactly what the dispute is.
::And, the "backwoods districts" aren't so obscure. Dover, PA is pretty close to a city I've lived in.

MAN, n. An animal so lost in rapturous contemplation of what he thinks he is as to overlook what he indubitably ought to be. Maybe I'm nitpicking a little here... but there are no subspecies for modern humans. The different races of humanity are not actually considered subspecies by most biologists. The "Human" article on wikipedia got this right, so the wikifur article should too! ;)

: Keep. Human characters are significant for more mainstream furry works (such as Disney movies, animal fiction...), and many furry characters from fiction are transformed humans. TwilightShadow1: Expanded a little more on my editing habits and other things

Welcome to my user page.
If you came here by mistake, then that is your problem.

:My name? TwilightShadow, a wolf with a silver-blue coat.
:I walk through the shadows of night as I wait to be reunited with my dearest companion.
:When it exactly was that I truly discovered who I am, I cannot say, though to the best of my knowledge, the year was 2008.

Concerning Myself
I consider myself a lifestyler and I am a Christian who believes that other Christians out there should stop being so cynical of the fandom.
I do a little artwork in my spare time (which isn't much). Also, due to my partial colorblindness, I work almost only in graphite pencil.
I usually edit WikiFur for grammer and consistency, and attempt to keep time sensitive information up to date. Oh yea, and I hunt out dead external links and eviscarate them imediately! Or at least after cheking them to be sure that they can be deleted.

My name is TwilightShadow, though in the many tubes of the internet, I go by TwilightShadow1 only because it is never taken (Except in one case with some Japanese guy on YouTube). I can be found on RuneScape and Playstation Network as monkey525467 (an unfortunate name back from when I used to play on Neopets). If, for some reason, you want to contact me through one of these mediums, I would advise against it. If you still want to contact me, say that you found me on here, otherwise I will ignore any contact. And yes, by now I am sure that you can tell that I am a lone wolf.

Furry Music Foundation

2010-07-09T14:42:05Z

TwilightShadow1: Added References

The Furry Music Foundation (also referred to as FMF) is a web site and archive dedicated to the promotion of music created by and for the furry community. The website, administered by Chama C. Fox, includes profiles of many composers and performers of furry music and has numerous songs available for download, as well as compiled collections of songs that are available on CD, including Furry Fantasies, Silky Fur and Furry Fantasies II.

Though downloads are free and unrestricted, submissions to FMF are moderated. Each song is reviewed before it is entered on the web site. The site does not feature musicians or works signed to organizations that restrict copyright such as RIAA, GEMA, etc.

History
The Furry Music Foundation was founded in January 1997 by Chama, as he recognized the need for a music community within the furry fandom. Hitherto, there had been no distribution channel for musicians to show and share their works. With CD productions being too expensive and personal home pages too obscure, little was produced and even less actually heard. FMF helped change this.

For the first year, the site was hosted on Tigress.com in Germany, though for a number of years it was hosted privately in Sweden. In 2000, it underwent a structure and face change to a new design by Nessus. Since the server in Sweden became defunct, in 2006 FMF was then hosted on the server of The Fauna Project in Germany with libraries in various countries. In early 2010, the website began reconstruction under the codename phoenix, with promises of being "better, niftier, at least 27% more reborn from fire, and of course greater."

It is still undergoing reconstruction.

Over the years, FMF has grown, and amassed furry composers, musicians and music from all over the world. Its members have created several CDs and other musical projects and on-going efforts such as Wolf Land.

Trivia
The song Happy Weasel by Chama was the first piece to be released on FMF. Five years later, Chama wrote Weasel's Return as an anniversary celebration. The third part, Weasel's Secret, was released in 2007.

Declined by Parks Department
I do not know any factual information about this, but I remember being told this gathering's application for a stay in the Lake of the Ozarks was declined by the Parks department; I do not know whether it was County or State, or what the exact name of the department is.

Can anybody give any insight?

In the meantime, I'll make a few emails to probe for more concrete information.
Sfurpent 15:32, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

The application for Wild Nights at Lake of the Ozarks State Park was indeed declined. Twice in fact. All thanks to the Missouri Department of State Parks. Their reasoning was because of concerns about "sexually explicit material" that might be accessed to minors during that period despite Wild Nights Clause to prevent any adult material from falling into the wrong eyes. And while not directly stated, it is implied that because it is a furry convention and the adult/sex nature furies have been stereotypically associated with probably didnt exactly thrill them, despite, once again, Wild Nights clause to keep the place suitable for minors as much as possible. Their [the parks] goal is to preserve the place as a family friendly haven. You look at the Wild Nights official forum for more information and my source: http://wildnights.org/forum (NOTE: registration is required to view posts and topics).

Several options are currently being discussed among the staff at the moment to determine the fate of Wild Nights, including moving it to nearby Oklahoma or Nebraska, applying again to Lake of the Ozarks (or any other state park in Missouri for that matter), but with the strict requirement of completely banning ALL adult material, or just cancelling the convention all together.

Furry Music Foundation

2010-05-17T01:47:42Z

TwilightShadow1: Expanded on trivia.

Chain Of Command

2010-05-02T03:51:44Z

TwilightShadow1: Removed extra "to".

Chain Of Command is a short story by Steven Arr describing the adventures of a head of the household of sentient mice living at the nuclear power station in following the human chain of command in his attempt to have the station janitor be ordered to remove a mousetrap from his 'front porch'. Eventually, the mice are left with no choice but to take over the world -- but even that won't make the janitor remove the pesky mousetrap.

The story is known to be aired on NBC's X minus one show (episode #76 dated Novermber 21, 1956), and was eventually translated to Russian and published in the USSR in Young Technician magazine in early 1970's.

A Bug's Life

2010-04-26T02:47:09Z

TwilightShadow1: Some cleaning up

cleanup

A Bug's Life is a computer animated film produced by Pixar Animation Studios. The firm was released by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution in the United States on November 25, 1998, in Australia on January 12, 1999, and in the United Kingdom on February 5, 1999. It is about an individualist ant who hires what he thinks are "warrior bugs" (actually circus performers) to fight off greedy grasshoppers. The story of A Bug's Life is a parody of Aesop's fable of The Ant and the Grasshopper.

Plot synopsis
Flik is an oddball, an individualist and would-be inventor in a colony of ants that is oppressed by a gang of Mafia-like grasshoppers, who arrive once a season demanding food from the ants, in return for supposed protection from "bigger bugs." While working with an invention to pick fruit more efficiently, Flik accidentally destroys the offering that the ants were putting together to appease the grasshoppers. Given a temporary reprieve by the grasshoppers, the ants agree to Flik's plan to recruit "warrior bugs" to fight off the grasshoppers—Flik actually believes the plan, while the other ants see it as a way of effectively exiling Flik.

Flik finds his way to the "city" (Garbage under a trailer), where he mistakes a group of recently fired circus performers, whose act collapses into chaos, for the warrior bugs he's seeking. The bugs, meanwhile, mistake Flik for a talent agent who wants to book their act, and agree to travel with him back to Ant Island.

Flik eventually realizes his mistake and develops a new plan. He advocates building a fake bird to scare away Hopper, the leader of the grasshoppers, who is deeply afraid of bug-eating birds. The ants unite behind Flik's plan until the circus' ringmaster, P.T. Flea, arrives to retrieve his performers, blowing Flik's cover.

The ants try desperately to pull together enough food for a new offering to the grasshopper crew, but it can't possibly be enough. Dot, a tiny royal ant who idolizes Flik, overhears Hopper's plan to kill the queen after the offering and gets her friends to put Flik's bird plan back into action. It all nearly works, but when a confused P.T. inadvertently incinerates the bird, Hopper knows he has been tricked. After taking a beating from Hopper, Flik declares, in response to Hopper's claims of racial superiority, "Ants don't serve grasshoppers! It's you who need us. We're a lot stronger than you say we are... and you know it, don't you?" Hopper knows it. His words make the ants realize that they outnumber the grasshoppers 100 to 1, they need not be oppressed by grasshoppers ever again. They all rise up in a wave of fury and chase the grasshoppers out, but not before Hopper grabs Flik in a plan to squish him. Thanks to some quick thinking by Flik, Hopper ends up being eaten by a real bird that also inhabits Ant Island. Flik is welcomed back to the colony, and all the circus bugs join him in a celebration before departing Ant Island.

Xalelydo Nightstride

2010-03-27T02:51:39Z

TwilightShadow1: copyedited

Xalelydo Nightstride (also known as Xale) is a hybrid Leofox (half fox, half lion) whom is originally from Celina, OH in the U.S.A., but now resides in Valencia, CA. He is an avid musician and performer along with being a fun loving fursuiter.

History
Xale was born on November 17th, 1985 and, after moving from his birthplace, grew up on the banks of Grand Lake St. Marys with his mom and dad (whom were divorced soon after his brother was born). He is the first of two children, and the only furry in his family, though they all know he is a member of the Furry fandom and, for the most part, accept it as part of his life.

After graduating from Celina High School in 2004 (with honors), he chose to attend Ohio Northern University in Ada, OH. There, he spent four years working and studying for his dream of becoming a professional musician. His majors while at ONU were Music Performance on Piano and Bassoon, and Music Composition. After graduating with his Bachelors of Music degree from college, Xale moved back to Celina, OH. Celina is also the current home for Exile Huscoon, whom Xale had worked with back in 2002, but neither knew the other was a furry at the time. Xale and especially Exile both attend events with the LAFF, and Xale is also a NeoFur and MIFur member. After living in Celina, OH for the summer, Xale then moved up to Grand Haven, MI to live with his mate Demara Strype for a year from August of 2008 to August of 2009. He did this not only to be closer to his mate, but also in order to live a modest life for one year's time. During this year, he worked part-time jobs at various places, took orchestral performance opportunities as they were offered to him, and also took a year off of college to keep his passion for music (which he had begun to feel dying away) alive and well. After a year of finding himself in such a wonderful home with his mate Demara, both of them packed up and headed out to the west coast, and sunny southern California.

Xale is currently a Master of Fine Arts (first year) student at the world-renowned California Institute of the Arts (also known as CalArts) in Valencia, CA. He is studying Music Performance, Music Composition and Woodwind Specialist while here, and loves the free-thinking and creative atmosphere that the institute has to offer him. Both he and his mate, Demara, live together in Valencia, CA, and Demara is attending the local community college College of the Canyons (also known as CoC) to hopefully transfer into CalArts for a final degree pursuit of Bachelor of Fine Arts in Expiramental Animation. Currently at CoC, Xale's mate Demara, is pursuing Animation Production. Xale support's his mate's educational interests, and encourages him to do his best.

Fursona
Over the past eight years, Xalelydo has metamorphosed into the Hybrid Leofox he is today. His first fursona was a gold adolescent lion with a silver mane named Nightstride. He developed this character after first seeing Disney's The Lion King. After he found the fandom in 2000, he kept this fursona for two years before he began to shift to a new Fursona. He adopted a new fursona; a punky-fox named Xylo. He also tended to be a bit stereotypical with the fox, and was quite open sexually.

After he graduated high school, the now-a-days Xale began to once again change as a person. Tired of the way he had been living, he began to incorporate the two (Nightstride lion and Xylo fox) together to create a new Fursona, one that more represented himself. After about a month of work and thinking things over, he came up with Xalelydo Nightstride, a hybrid Leofox with a silver adolescent mane, fox looks, lion ears and claws (five forepaw digits though so he can play piano/bassoon), and glowing green eyes that represent his own real eyes. Proud of being gay, he wears the same earrings and necklace along with collar in everyday life to link himself to Xale. Though he loves to wear them every day, Xale usually only wears his pride earrings out in public these days. Friends and family know, and if anyone else questions him, he is always open and honest with them.

Fursuit
Xale's (partial) fursuit was built in 2008 by Niiku, a Unimule Pony whom lives in Ypsilanti, MI. It was premiered at MFF 2008, and had great acceptance amongst everyone whom he met. Niiku looked at him, upon him picking it up and first wearing it with her around, stating: "Oh my god, I just built a fox. Can anyone say this is limited edition?" as a sick but true joke about Foxes and Xale himself. They are best friends, so everyone there had a good laugh and thus Xale's new and perfect fursuit was born.

The Body of the suit (one of the two) was actually built by Xale's own mother, and the other which cannot be shown on this page, was built by himself. This is because it's used for fuckin'. The hind paws were constructed by the ever talented HyenaGirl at HyenaGirl Studios, whilst the tail, hand paws, arm sleeves (for the partial) and head were created by Niiku at "A Fursuit Is Fine, Too" Productions.

In addition to Xale owning his primary character's suit, he also owns a partial suit of his aternate character, Keowee. Keowee is a huscoon (husky/coon hybrid) and was made by Eris Valgen, a folf from Tulsa, OK. She also made his Xale's mate Demara's fursuit head, which he ended up re-doing the eyes on for vision improvement. Keowee's head and tail were made by eris, while he made the handpaws, and a set of arm sleeves, and simply uses a set of "Happy Feet" slippers for the feet, since they are oversized looking shoe-sliipers, and work out nicely with fursuits.

Conventions
Xale has been going to cons since 03 and loves to hang out and fursuit, owning one of his own currently, and one on the way to match his actual Fursona. His favorite cons to attend are Furry Connect North, Midwest Furfest and Anthrocon, however Midwest Furfest is by far his favorite due to its size and proximity to himself.

He is not much of an artist outside of the music realm, however he does draw (though no one ever sees). His true talents lie in composition and performance, along with some minor acting on the sides.

Coffeekat

2010-03-19T00:38:10Z

TwilightShadow1: Added space between two words

Coffeekat (also known as Coffeedameerkat, or meerkat123 on YouTube) is a meerkat furry who lives in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia. Born May 21, 1993, in Harlow, Essex, England. Coffeekat lived in Essex for the first three years of his life and moved to Australia at a young age.

As of October 2008 he attends Keira High School, located on the south coast of New South Wales.

Fandom involvement
Coffeekat discovered the furry fandom on YouTube at the age of thirteen, when he met another fur with the same fursona who helped him out and taught about the fandom. It was also on YouTube that Coffeekat contributed to the “Furry War”. Coffeekat is a popular Australian furry in the YouTube community. He has been given many honors for his videos. he has been the #2 most viewed in Australia all time and #40 most subscribed world wide (that current week) which was during rebury 2008.

Mistaken identity
Coffeekat was banned from the Australian IRC channel because they thought he was timonsuricata, due of the same fursona and the fact that they live in neighboring towns. Coffeekat attempted to contact the mod of the IRC channel, but was ignored by the owner. He then went on webcam with a furry who was a close friend of the mod who pleaded to the owner that it was a case of mistaken identity. He was still not let back in.

Vulfpacht

2010-01-03T04:24:25Z

TwilightShadow1: Removed the copyedit tag after some revisions made several months ago.

Vulfpachts are a fictional race of wolf-like people from the webcomic, The Pride of Life. They originated in the Traube Rainforest, located from the Tropical Subcontinent to the Forested Continent. The descendants of those vulfpachts migrated to the Forested Continent approximately 2500 years ago, although some tribes still remain in the Traube Rainforest.

Physiology
Physical characteristics

Vulfpachts are a cross between wolves and mountain lions, and are characterized by their distinct purple fur and semi-prehensile, spike-tipped tails. Like lion cubs, vulfpacht young have spotted fur, but lose their spots between 8-10 years of age.
The bone spike of the tail develops roughly at age 12.

Males reach heights of 5'10" and females, 5'6", on average. They do grow secondary head hair which ranges in color from platinum blond to jet black, but more often than not will be off-black or medium brown. They do not possess the genes for red hair. Males also have secondary facial fur growth resembling mustaches and beards.

Society
Vulfpachts are one of the three Victim Races, the others being the Wolfish (thought to be extinct) and dragons.

The vulfpacht race is typically a hunter-gatherer society with some utilization of mixed farming. Their favored game is wild bird and fish, but they do raise chickens, ducks, and (in the Forested Continent) small numbers of cattle. Corn and barley are the crops of choice, and the vulfpacht adopt a three-field system in their agrarian activities.

Politics and Defense

Leadership is determined through succession regardless of gender, though the leader position may be challenged and a new leader may be put in via a majority vote.

As members of a Victim Race, all vulfpachts are trained in an array of weapons usage and hand-to-hand combat to defend themselves from any and all assured threats at an early age. They will typically use any sort of blade, but a few favor hunting weapons such as the bow and arrow.

Furry

TwilightShadow1: Made capitalization of 'furry' consistant

The word furry has several meanings, dependent on the context in which it is used. Predominantly, it means "consisting of or resembling fur". It also pertains to an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or mythological or imaginary creatures which possess human or superhuman capabilities. The plural form of furry in all its contexts is furs or furries; the subjects of furry interest are also known as furries.

What it means to be furry
Someone who says they are furry is generally expressing an interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or creatures.

Unfavorable attention from the media has created a negative stereotype of a furry. Contrary to how a furry is portrayed in pop culture and mass media, how deep or meaningful an interest in Furry is varies greatly from person to person.

Also, the depth of a person's interest in the fandom, and what ultimately makes them furry, is specific to each individual. Below is a list of common interests with which a fur is likely to identify. A furry may be interested in any or all of them, to any degree.

Someone claiming to be furry would also be part of the furry fandom.

Furry's gamut of interests
Cartoons and games
Interest in anthropomorphic animals and/or creatures can be as simple as the many popular furry cartoon characters, known as funny animals. These may include Bugs Bunny, Tony the Tiger, Sly Cooper, Star Fox, etc. However, someone who merely happens to like these characters is not necessarily a furry; the degree and nature of one's interest is relevant here.

Spirituality
[[Image:Postsecret.jpg|thumb|175px|A postcard sent into PostSecret depicting a fur's interest in becoming her fursona.]]
Some furs believe they have a spiritual connection to a particular animal which is typically their fursona, but also may be a totem. Strong spiritual believers may often say that they are "an animal in a human body" (and in fact may identify themselves as otherkin, weres and/or therians which are their own categories and not linked to the furry fandom just by interest). Some join and find the furry fandom to be a place to be themselves, as most of these groups are underground and the furry fandom is more open to the world.

Art and creativity
Some furs may be interested only in the creative aspects of the furry fandom. Furry content, both online and off, is easy to obtain, and available in vast amounts, and furs produce new works regularly. Furry artwork is also done by many nonfurries as well in targeting the fandom. Others may disassociate themselves from the fandom and refer to themselves as funny animal artists. Furries may also enjoy role-playing a particular furry character or fursona, sometimes writing about this character or recording their online interactions for posterity.

Fursuiting
Some furries enjoy the practice of dressing up in a costume that is typically designed after a fursona. These "fursuits" are usually worn at conventions, and a few are even designed to accommodate sexual situations. Some furries opt to wear a "partial" suit, consisting of a head, tail, and paws, instead of a full fursuit; others may just wear a tail or various other pieces. While only a minority (about 15-20%) consider themselves fursuiters, they tend to be highly visible at events where many furries are present.

Sexuality
To some furs, the sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals is a part of what makes them furry. This is a topic of much controversy, as it has been the subject of early media attention (such as that from Wired Magazine and Vanity Fair), leading to its becoming a common conception of furry community at large. This has spawned a few groups in response (such as the Burned Furs) with a desire to discourage this angle, or create a clear distinction between these furries and the rest of the community.

Other contexts of Furry
From within the fandom, anything classified as an anthropomorphic animal and/or creature could be called a furry. That could be anything from Scooby Doo to various sports mascots to Omaha the Cat Dancer. Since mainstream characters are generally not created with furries in mind, the furry context is presumed by most outsiders to not be present despite subcultural interest.

Any art showcasing anthropomorphic animals is generally considered furry artwork. Artwork that contains furries in sexual situations may be called yiff or spooge art.

Non-furry furries
Anthropomorphic creatures that are also considered to be furry (even with the lack of pelt or fur) include (but are not limited to): dragons and lizards (also known as scalies and herps, respectively), Cetaceans (dolphins and Orcas), birds and gryphons (also known as featheries or avians), and taurs (centaurs being the prime example).

Strype (b. March 25, 1983) is a furry artist from London, Ontario, Canada. His fursona is a tiger with bionic legs. Recently, Strype acquired the 100,000,000th post on 4Chan by posting his piece "A Little R and R" to the boards. The post was nearly immediately deleted and was labelled as an "epic fail".

Planned retirement from the fandom
On February 28th, 2009, Strype announced that he was leaving the furry fandom for the sake of his beloved one. He stated that all the attention he's getting changes him too much and on the other hand caused her to be completly ignored and left out when he is around.
He also stated that this might not be a permanent decision, but that he would not return under the name "Strype" again.

A short time later, on March 1st, 2009, he revoked his former statement, saying that it was "propably one of the dumbest things" that he could have done.

The games furry element lies within the creature creator. Because many parts have an animalistic apearance, the player can create a wide variety of anthros. Although the game is not multiplayer, it allows created content to be exchanged between players. Furthermore, the player's creatures can be outfitted with various types of armor or clothing.

Canine

2009-11-15T23:09:30Z

TwilightShadow1: /* Canines and human beings */

Just as with felines, Canines are one of the more common and popular character types. The term encompasses wolves, coyotes, jackals and every variety of domestic dog as well as their wild cousins, such as the dingo and more distant cousins, the foxes.

Family overview
The family Canidae includes around fifteen genus and is well-distributed throughout much of the world. As a rule they can be characterized as "opportunistic carnivores," consuming meat when it is available but also feeding on plant matter and carrion. They are placental mammals who give birth to a litter of live young. The family may be further subdivided into two groups, "true dogs" and "foxes."

Some species, particularly the wolf (C. lupus), and by logical extension the domesticated wolves that are domesticated dogs, are noted for their comparatively complex social structures. This has given rise to a view of the canine as inherently social, although many genera within the family are at least primarily solitary. As such, Canidae may be an appealing character choice both to those who identify with the perceived independence of the red fox, or to those who see themselves reflected in the perceived loyalty and kinship of the dog.

Canines and human beings
The relationship between humans (Homo sapiens) and canines takes a number of different forms. The domestic dog (C. lupus familiaris) was the first animal truly domesticated by humans, taking place perhaps greater than 15,000 years ago. The relationship between the two species of mammal has been proverbially close, with the dog acquiring the title of "Man's Best Friend" and accompanying him to the corners of the Earth -- domesticated or semi-domesticated dogs are found historically from North America to Australia.

However, other such ties can be strained: following the domestication of livestock, the wolf (C. lupus), on a global scale, has been driven from much of its original habitat, and has become an endangered species in many parts of the world. Considered a hazard to sheep and cattle (in some cases rightfully so) the wolf is a proverbially unwelcome sight to ranchers and farmers, and is often treated as such by hunting, trapping, and poaching.

Similarly, the red fox (C. vulpes, also classified as Vulpes vulpes), coyote (C. latrans), and dingo (C. lupus dingo) are hunted as vermin in some parts of the world -- most notably, fox hunting has become, in Éire (Ireland) and the United Kingdom, something of an instution, althought it obstentiably began as a form of pest control. However, in Sept 15th, 2004, a bill was passed in United Kingdom prohibitting fox hunting from Feb 2005.

Notably, while they are non-domesticated, the raising of some canids -- particularly, again, the fox -- for their pelts and fur remains a relatively common commercial activity in some parts of the world.

Canines and the furry fandom
Perhaps because of the unique relationship between canines and people alluded to above, the family is well represented in the furry fandom. A search on personals website Pounced.org reveals well over half of those providing an alternate identity call themselves canine: 1577/2580 (61%), as opposed to felines (the next largest contender, with 929, or 36%). Of those identifying as canine, just over a third list their species as being "fox"; 42% list "wolf."

* Lassie, the internationally famous rough collie.

Vulfpacht

2009-10-30T01:13:34Z

TwilightShadow1:

copyedit

One form of communication at conventions is to have a series of message boards located at a central area in convention space. The message boards consist of one or more corkboards where the following things are usually posted:

* Notes from furs with the room number at they are in
* Notes from furs who are looking for other furs
