::Either way, all I know is that a page not touched for years was suddenly marked for deletion. When I undid that upon notification, it was fully deleted/redirected with no explanation. When I asked for an explanation, I'm simply told that it's "not notable", even though the fictional_species area is full of similar character instances.

::As a very long standing member of the fandom whose character-species is decently well recognized (except, evidently, to wikifur editors), I find this to be an abuse of power by an editor who thinks he knows best. The "screw him, I'm deleting/redirecting" comes across as a punitive revenge piece instead of a proper justification.

::Please apply this "notable'" policy to ALL appropriate character species here on WikiFur, or please restore my s"pecies" page. I am the sole copyright holder on the species concept "monoceros" and on the monoceros character "Tugrik". I put these pages here against my better judgement as a favor to GreenReaper back when he was trying to convince those in his social circles to contribute to WikiFur.

Now that I find myself being judged by a self-appointed editor, I wish to remove all of my copyrighted content, text and images from this site. Please do so or I will pursue this matter further as provided for by US copyright law.

Once all my materials are removed I will delete my account, and you will no longer have to worry about categorizing the information that I contributed to this Wiki.

Aah, the universal "we can do whatever we want to" page all Wikis pull out. I'm very familiar with this and have seen it in many WikiWars.

It is your sandbox, I must play by your rules. I will be submitting a Personal Exclusion in the next few minutes by your policies. I personally do not subscribe to the 'assume in good faith' wiki article. Question: Why is the Wikifur rating for the MUCK 14, when there's a PG-13 rating in the park? That would mean it would at least be 13, if not younger, and I've seen younger.

Arguably Furrymuck is the center of the Furry fandom as it exists in its modern form with conventions or "cons" being the other center of gravity to the subculture.

PG-13 is a, to be diplomatic, ''elastic'' term on Furrymuck going from Disney G to mid range R. If you start using heavy sexual language in a public place your probably going to get burned by a wiz, but don't be suprised at the yelling or sexually charged conversations in public places on Furrymuck.

;The Park

Due to its very OOC (out of character) nature the park should not be misconstrued with the majority of Furrymuck despite its prominance. Do NOT show up in full "furry" expecting that wagging a tail or waving a paw will endear you to anyone. It can be a brutal place filled with arguments about politics and religious wars over computers and console games. Usually its got someone in it that is at least tolarent of the more overtly
furry poses but don't be shocked if your yelled at or told to "get a room".

;The Purple Nurple

This place is usually very quiet like a [[Tapestries|Taps]] room. Though it can, to its credit, become wildly fun with much commentary. Note that if you find males kissing offensive this is NOT the room for you. Despite its homosexual label there are rarely, if ever, lesbian or female characters at the Nurple.

;Libertyville Nude Beach

This is true, you will be told, right off, if you show up with a clothed description. However, a good nude description can include the usual "pure fur" kind where fur covers the naughty bits but no actual clothes are worn.

;Willing Victims Guild

Only if players wish it [Safeword roleplay?], usually its a free for all BDSM area, very quite, much like Taps with many whispers

;The Emerald City Tavern

A nice place, less brutal then WCOTP but still with enough adult content to be interesting. A good place to relax but be mindful that adult means mature and acting goofy may get you snickers or worse.

;Regular events

Both of these ([[Owlhaven Literary Lounge]] and [[Artist's Ambush]]) are HIGHLY recommended. Just shut up and listen your first time in, then, when you get the vibe of the place throw in your comments the next time around. You'll be pleasently suprised at the high quality that can show up on occasion in both venues.

;Programming

Both of these ([[MUF]] and [[MPI]]) can be impossible for someone just on the muck for the furry fun. However they ''can'' be very rewarding if your willing to do the learning curve.

;Organization

Another muck called SPR had major wizard wars that destroyed it. Furrymuck, to its great credit, has not had this. Wizards are selected carefully and are watchful and friendly as long as you don't act like an ass.

;Mayors of FurryMUCK

It should be noted that Toast is considered to be the de facto Mayor and can be 'bribed' if you get the right script commands. Its fun and Toast is a good sort, a kind of Honorary Mayor For Life.

== Splitting out places ==

Question: What method is being used to determine what MUCK locations and destinations to list within the FurryMUCK main article, and which ones to move to the seperate page? It seems to me as though the sites that are being listed within the main article are being 'featured' in some way, or favored over the other sites, and that may not be fair or neutral. It occurs to me that sites listed in the main article are likely to gain more attention than those seperated off into the locations page.

Some sort of standard should be followed, perhaps age of the location in question or something, to determine which locations to list within the main article, or else ALL locations should be moved off to the locations page.

I have a couple thoughts on this:

We should move all MUCK locations off to the locations page, and then since the FurryMUCK article is a featured article, we should feature a "MUCK's most popular" location, perhaps updating monthly or so. The most popular location could be established through WhereAre logs, and should probably meet the following criteria:

Loiter time: People should stay in a popular location for more than a few minutes. That means it would be at or near the top of the WhereAre list for hours at a time.

Consistancy: It should be popular day after day. A sudden surge or spike of interest that soon dies does not make a popular site. However, one that is at the top of WhereAre again and again over the course of days or weeks is a clear contender to be featured as the MUCK's Most Popular location.

If it's decided to list certain sites other than the MUCK's Most Popular on the FurryMUCK main article page, then we need to follow some consistant standard, like simply listing them all alphabetically or listing them by creation dates with the oldest first. These would be verifiable non-flexible facts. Opinions, or even things like the most popular location, all change over time.

:I'd suggest listing all the sites here with short summaries. If there is more about them, make a page on it, put it in the category, and link to it from this article. The objective of having them on separate pages is so that they don't make this article too long and are separately discoverable/linkable, not to feature them in nay particular way.

:That's not exactly what "weasel words" means, but the line's not entirely accurate, either - pedophilia refers to the love of children, while [[Wikipedia:ageplay|ageplay]] is more about taking on the role of a younger person - that is, you can be an ageplayer, and not be a paedophile, in the same way that you could be a machochist but not a sadist. == Palace of Dragons ==

Many old-time FurryMUCKers fondly remember the Palace of Dragons, so I gave it an entry in the Locations section, with the word (gone) so that people know it's a defunct location right off the bat.

I don't know if this deserves its own separate article, but editors are free to make it into a separate article if they wish. I just don't see how a location that was popular for so many years should be left out in an article about the MUCK.

Someone pointed me at this article, so I figured I might as well update it. When the server had a massive downtime happen on S'a'alis's box, it ended up transferring over to mine. I updated the timeline to show that without getting into the gory details of the transfer. To go with this, I added a small section on the physical server so that others could see what it takes to keep FM running, hardware-wise.

:Both of those are technically feasible, but the first would require writing a bot script and assumes they are the same person, while I'm not sure the second is a good idea in general. What do you define the difference between a [[fursuit]] and an [[wikipedia:animal costume|animal costume]]? The subject has come up at [[wikipedia:Talk:Fursuit#Explanation of edits undone|Wikiepdia's fursuit article]], but I'm a rather poor debater, and feel my opinion is pretty closed-minded. My opinion is that a fursuit is only a fursuit if associated with furry, otherwise, it's an animal or mascot costume. However, I know that some feel an animal costume is a fursuit, and the two are synonymous. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on this. Also, whenever I try to edit a section or add a new section, the wiki tries to replace the entire text with the section. Any thoughts on why this is? It may have something to do with the fact that I am using Internet Explorer, which gives me problems in general on this Wiki. + ::It's the newest version. The only difference between the newest version and the older one (which I used on my PC) is that this allows me to edit, as long as I do not scroll down the page, whereas the older would simply lock up my computer if I even went to an edit page. The only way I am able to edit on this laptop I often use is by typing without scrolling too much, and then clicking the "Changes" tab, where it allows me to scroll down to click save. Just curious why I was singled out. Or are all http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Category:Fictional_species pages due to to be similarly deleted/redirected if any single WikiFur editor decides that a 'custom species' isn't to his or her liking? If you're nuking all of them, then no worries, I understand. But if it's just this page, I'd really like to know why.

There are multiple monoceri played online, and yes, I've referred others (esp. on SpheresMU*) to that page for reference. Just because no others of them are WikiFur members with their own page yet doesn't mean that the fictional species entry for monoceri should be deleted.

Personally it feels like Spirou is just enjoying some power-play time and put in the 'redirect' as a way to prove he/she has editing power, and I'd better sit down/shut up or other stuff related to me may get deleted too.

The [[Hermaphrodite Haven]] (''t hh'') is an establishment for hermaphrodite enthusiasts and fetishists, party to both hermaphrodite or shemale characters and those who enjoy [[roleplay]] with them. The grounds are age-locked against minors for sexually explicit behavior. Founded by [[Tulip]], it is now operated by [[Shadow]]. Most activity actually takes place in the clubhouse grounds, although there is a [[truth or dare]] room inside. Nearby is Lake Hermy, and adjacent to the Haven are the Hermaphrodite Estates, a set of strictly [[herm]]-only residences. The structure has been 'under construction' for the better part of a decade, functionally frozen.

The Palace of Dragons was a very popular Truth or Dare (T|D) area. It was a giant platform floating in the sky, and had four "pools" in which players could sit, and a programmed system by which players can play Truth or Dare with each other. The system kept track of the question being asked, dares given, and whether the questions had been answered or dares completed. For most of its existence until its closure in the late 1990s, the Palace of Dragons was one of the more consistently popular hangouts only second to [[West Corner of the Park]].

Due to an apparent disagreement with the Wizards on its operation and age-locked status, the Palace of Dragons was eventually shut down and moved to [[Tapestries]] at some point in the late 1990s. Perhaps the greatest irony is that on Tapestries it hardly gets any use; by moving to a new MUCK, all the culture that had been built around it evaporated instantly; people were not willing to move to a whole other MUCK to continue enjoying T|D games.

There have been several replacements for the Palace of Dragons on FurryMUCK, but none of them have gained any traction; there no longer seems to be a well-known central location to play Truth or Dare on the MUCK.

It was an official part of the process that new mayors were selected in a different way each time. The first mayor was selected by a relatively fair election, so all others thereafter were selected by varying other methods, all deliberately corrupt in some way. Bribery, nepotism, theocracy, and vote-buying were all used.

The joke is that despite the good–natured (and otherwise) hullabaloo over the selection process, the post is almost entirely symbolic. The only responsibility of the Mayor being to change the name of the currency. In that sort of situation (multiple page blanking or simple vandalism) you can add "&bot=1" to the URL of the user's contribution page and then reload the page with that URL. I would like to discuss deleting redirects. As deleted articles are still saved in the database, there is no need to do it to save disk space. In most cases there's no need to delete them. This is Rat, the Yerf guy.. I think I may have messed up the flow a bit, could I get help cleaning it up? Its like trying to represent a 3D thing on a 2D space. There's chronological, but also several threads of things are trying to be represented, the site's main history, as well as little offshoot things.

I read it closer, and it implied some things that weren't true. For example, when the change was made from SCFA to Yerf, that was only a name change, and some redesign of the layout. There was no relaunch as far as rules or anything else goes. It used to be at http://rat.org/yerf, and I wanted it to have its own domain so it could live on without me should the time came, and it did.

: This is doubtless my fault. I was trying to to piece it together from newsgroup posts and the quotes on the back of sugar packets, so I'm sure I got a few things mixed up. :-)

And the grandfathering issue was only due to how long the site had been around, and how inevitibly the rejected applicants would find worse art than their own to point at and ask why that is allowed on but theirs is not. I'm not even sure if the grandfathering thing is worth meantioning really.

: I think it should be there because of the way it constantly seemed to come up as an issue. It was the ''reason'' that there were artists there of the same relative quality as those who were later turned away - without it, Yerf just looks arbitrary.

My move to california from the east coast occured Sept 22, 1998, and Yerf was down for only a week. I pretty much drove to Tugrik's work from NH, in my compact car for 2500 miles with all my possessions. Somehow it survived. :)

: I can top that - I disassembled my computer completely, packed it in my suitcase, and flew 4000 miles from London to Detroit (in fact, more, because I stopped off in Atlanta). Who knows what they did to it in baggage handling, but it survived!

This is Rat, the Yerf guy.. I think I may have messed up the flow a bit, could I get help cleaning it up? Its like trying to represent a 3D thing on a 2D space. There's chronological, but also several threads of things are trying to be represented, the site's main history, as well as little offshoot things.

I read it closer, and it implied some things that weren't true. For example, when the change was made from SCFA to Yerf, that was only a name change, and some redesign of the layout. There was no relaunch as far as rules or anything else goes. It used to be at http://rat.org/yerf, and I wanted it to have its own domain so it could live on without me should the time came, and it did.

: This is doubtless my fault. I was trying to to piece it together from newsgroup posts and the quotes on the back of sugar packets, so I'm sure I got a few things mixed up. :-)

And the grandfathering issue was only due to how long the site had been around, and how inevitibly the rejected applicants would find worse art than their own to point at and ask why that is allowed on but theirs is not. I'm not even sure if the grandfathering thing is worth meantioning really.

: I think it should be there because of the way it constantly seemed to come up as an issue. It was the ''reason'' that there were artists there of the same relative quality as those who were later turned away - without it, Yerf just looks arbitrary.

My move to california from the east coast occured Sept 22, 1998, and Yerf was down for only a week. I pretty much drove to Tugrik's work from NH, in my compact car for 2500 miles with all my possessions. Somehow it survived. :)

: I can top that - I disassembled my computer completely, packed it in my suitcase, and flew 4000 miles from London to Detroit (in fact, more, because I stopped off in Atlanta). Who knows what they did to it in baggage handling, but it survived!

== Draconic Character Traits ==

Dragons typically have many character traits ascribed to them. Due to the wide range of mythology and differing perceptions of their personality, there is no definitive guide to draconic characterization. Some classical and popular traits are:

* Hoarding valuable items. Traditionally seen as greed, but sometimes as protection of rarities or items which are valuable in more ways than material riches.
* In Asian mythology, an appreciation for fine foods and tea, culture, traditions, and rituals. As a side note, many Furries who play dragons also seem to have a preference for tea, regardless of their character's mythological background.
* Arrogance and a sense of superiority and/or invulnerability.
* Vanity and great attention to appearances, though not necessarily physical.
* Defensive and territorial, preferring the company of other creatures to another dragon.
* A "breath weapon" of some kind, often visualized as the natural or mystical ability to exhale fire. But there are many variations, ranging from icey breath to poisonous clouds.
* Deference and even voluntary servitude to great wisdom, purity, power, or beauty.
* Curiosity about smaller, more delicate creatures such as men, to the point of obsession.
* Great cycles of sleep and regeneration, where a dragon might vanish for weeks, months, or years to slumber or hibernate.
* In the oriental context, a dragon is often seen as a messenger of divine powers or enforcer of the law of the gods.
* Mastery of arcane knowledge, such as alchemy and forms of sorcery or magical lore.

One trait many conceptualize dragons with is referred to as the "pounce or ponder" instinct. A dragon tends to either make a snap decision - or else spend hours, days, or even years laboring over an idea, with little middle ground between the extremes.
