Tryst: Brought up to date.

Tryst (real name Robert Barnes; born October 23rd, 1986, in Swansea, Wales) is a furry and creator of fursuit items.

In 2009 Tryst graduated from the University of Surrey, in Guildford, England as a Master of Engineering in electronic and satellite engineering. It was during his many years at university that he discovered furry. He now works as an electronic engineer for a prestigious research agency in the UK.

Tryst's fursona takes the form of an anthropomorphic domestic cat, roughly six feet tall and darkly coloured. His markings are plain, although it is obvious that this feline has seen a lot of outdoor life; his fur is scruffy and he has a nick out of one ear. Despite his rough exterior, his eyes are clear, green and seem a great deal older than the rest of him.

Names and Aliases
The name Tryst, although frequently eluded to refer to the old English for a clandestine amorous meeting, is in fact merely short for Trystan Fel Cath - a self-fashioned Welsh name, the latter part of which means literally 'cat like'.

In addition to this, he regularly uses the alias Barnzi, which is a corruption of his real life surname.

Tryst can occasionally be found on the 14MHz amateur radio band and the British Citizen's Band under the call signs M3XUG and 2F4LJ respectively.

Meet Attendance and Conventions
Although he had been known to attend furmeets in Cardiff and Bristol when he used to live in Wales, Tryst can be most frequently found attending the London Furs meets. He is normally located somewhere between an empty pint glass and the bar.

For a brief period, he tried to offer his services as a group liaison and handed out many business cards. However, this became unmanageable due to the rapidly increasing size of the group. He still, however, remains a good group contact that has a fair chance of being on speaking terms with everyone.

Tryst has been involved with RBW since its second year in 2007. In the beginning his involvement was limited to technical provisions such as sound, light and staging. However, his responsibilities have grown considerably over the years. With the departure of Foxberance from the team in early 2009, Tryst took on the majority of the convention's administrative work including financial planning, project management and running the back-end limited company, ARF.

When not staffing RBW, Tryst enjoys attending Confuzzled in Manchester and Eurofurence in Germany. He hopes to go to his first North American convention next year, despite not being able to drive there.

RBW (originally Red Blue & White) is the UK's first and Europe's second largest furry convention. Held annually in London, England, it attracts furs from across the UK, Europe and the US.

Background
Founded in 1998, the LondonFurs had a long tradition of an annual Christmas meal. However, in the last few years the group has grown to such a point as to make an annual dinner for all impractical. When Rapido became responsible for the group in 2006, he replaced the meal with a much larger event, Red, Blue and White (originally London Boat Party). Taking place after the 2006 Christmas Meet, the party attracted around 85 furs who were entertained by music and a live performance by 2, The Ranting Gryphon aboard a leisure boat sailing up and down the River Thames.

In 2007 the event was expanded into a full two day convention format, albeit one that took place in a bar in the City of London. Selling 242 tickets, the event continued to focus around the boat party, but also offered a wide range of events on shore.

After the success of 2007, organisers sought to emulate the format of larger conventions by hosting the 2008 event in the Royal National Hotel, Bloomsbury, London. However, Rapido dramatically left the team in the summer preceding throwing the organisation into confusion and spreading doubts about the event's future success. Fortunately the intense efforts of the remaining team, now joined by the dynamic duo Kittiah and Miyabi, allowed RBW 2008 to proceed.

Looking to the future, RBW 2009 will again utilise the hotel convention format, with the boat party -- for which the convention has become world renowned -- remaining a central feature.

After the success of 2007, organisers sought to emulate the format of largr conventions by hosting the 2008 event in the Royal National Hotel, Bloomsbury, London.

RBW 2008 is shaping up to be a huge success this year; within 72 hours of opening registration, 100 tickets of varying levels have been sold. With over 8 months to go, the convention seems set to be much larger than anyone could have anticipated, already having made it past a third of the 242 tickets that were sold for RBW 2007.

This figure includes XX Platinum tickets at £150(℮US$300) each, which offer numerous extras such as: free access to the hospitality suite, a free meal with the Guests of Honor, an RBW T-shirt, express sign-in, access to the traditional boat party, a signed print by the artistic Guest of Honor and a trip with the Guests of Honor on one of the world biggest icons - the London Eye.

The first confirmed Guest of Honor for 2008 was announced as the talented Latin Vixen, who will be joined by other guests to be announced at a later date by the organizers. Alongside the Guests of Honor, RBW 2008 will also have a number of other Guests and VIPs, including Timothy Albee and Fatkraken.

Events for 2008 see the return of the boat party that started it all and was a huge success at RBW 2007. Due to increased popularity over previous years, RBW has had to yet again find a larger boat. The Erasmus is one of the largest pleasure boats on the River Thames and will play host to 310 furs over it's 3 floors from 8pm till midnight on the Saturday of the convention.

As well as the return of the boat party, RBW will be welcoming back Timothy Albee who will be talking about his time in Antarctica and the bond he formed with his pack of huskies that have saved his life numerous times.

2008 will also see the return of the Fursuit Commonwealth Games, the RBW Charity Auction and the Fursuit Construction Panel, this year being hosted by Latin Vixen.

Tryst (born Robert Barnes, October 1986, Swansea, Wales) is a university student at the University of Surrey, in Guildford, England where he studies satellite engineering. He grew up in Swansea before moving to Guildford in 2004 and discovering furry shortly thereafter via live action roleplay (LARP).

His fursona takes the form of an anthropomorphic domestic cat, roughly six feet tall and darkly coloured. His markings are plain, although it is obvious that this feline has seen a lot of outdoor life. His fur is scruffy and he has a nick out of one ear. Despite his rough exterior, his eyes are clear, green and hint of secret knowledge.

His long term partner is Beanie.

Names and Aliases
The name Tryst, although frequently eluded to refer to the old English for a secret meeting, is in fact merely short for Trystan Fel Cath - a self fashioned Welsh name, the latter part of which means literally 'cat like'.

In addition to this, he regularly uses the alias Barnzi which is a corruption of his real life surname.

Meet Attendance
Although he has been known to attend furmeets in Cardiff and Bristol when he used to live in Wales, Tryst can be most frequently found attending the London Furs meets.

He grew up in Swansea, Wales before moving to Guildford in 2004 and discovering furry shortly thereafter.

His long term partner is Beanie.

Names and Aliases
The name Tryst, although frequently eluded to refer to the old English for a secret meeting, is in fact merely short for Trystan Fel Cath - a self fashioned Welsh name, the latter part of which means literally 'cat like'.

In addition to this, he occasionally uses the alias Barnzi which is a corruption of his real life surname.

The Fursona
Tryst's fursona takes the form of an anthropomorphic domestic cat, roughly six feet tall and darkly coloured. His markings are plain, although it is obvious that this feline has seen a lot of outdoor life. His fur is scruffy and he has a nick out of one ear. Despite his rough exterior, his eyes are clear and green and hint of secret knowledge.

Meet Attendance
Although he has been known to attend furmeets in Cardiff and Bristol when he used to live in Wales, Tryst can be most frequently found attending the London Furs meets in the Theodore Bullfrog. He is normally located somewhere between an empty pint glass and the bar.

For a brief period, he tried to offer his services as a group liason and handed out many business cards to this effect. However, this rapidly became unmanagable due to the rapidly increasing size of the group. He still, however, remains a good group contact that has a fair chance of being on speaking terms with everyone.
