:Hi Threyon. I did some research on this, and it appears that Wikicities maintains a [http://www.wikicities.com/wiki/Spam_Blacklist Spam Blacklist], which I am guessing you may have run afoul of. Check the list and see if your site is listed there; if it is, leave a comment at [http://www.wikicities.com/wiki/Talk:Spam_Blacklist Talk:Spam Blacklist] to request and justify removal from the list. If your domain is not on that list, let us know (perhaps write it out like "www dot notreallyspam dot com"?) and we'll see if we can figure out what's causing the problem. --[[User:DuncanDaHusky|Duncan da Husky]] 16:46, 19 January 2006 (UTC)
== Problems with variable/value inheritance ==

I can't seem to get any pages to inherit the 'bot' state from their parent (that is, the page they were linked from). The reason could lie within the fact that the pages linked from it are given in this format: '/wiki/pagetitle' rather than this one: '/index.php?title=pagetitle', and from what I gather the 'bot mode' only works if the URL is shown in the latter format (I guess this has to do with PHP-applets and stuff, which I honestly don't have a clue how works :).
Does anyone know of a solution for this? --[[User:MKerris|MKerris]] 18:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)

Alright... I've looked up and down and all over this thing and cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to simply make a brand new article. Specfically a character article in the "(species) Character" section. I know how to make a new article in Wikipedia, but this thing is baffling me! Help?

:There are various ways:
* Link to the article from another article, then click the red link (do it in a preview or in the sandbox if you don't want the link to last)
* Search for an article and click the red link when it doesn't come up
* Type it directly into the URL box and go to that page, then click edit
== Image copyrights ==

I was just wondering... [[:Image:KaloFoxfire.JPG]] is a image commissioned from an artist ([[Foux]]) by me, and then edited slightly (cropped). What copyright(s) would it fall under? Are there any special tags I need to add to the image? [[User:KaloFoxfire|KaloFoxfire]] 19:56, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

:It is under the artist's copyright. The cropping is a trivial modification that does not affect this. However, most commissions operate under the (often implicit) agreement that the image may be used by the commissioner to represent the character concerned, at least in non-profit ways. You should use the <nowiki>{{fursona}}</nowiki> tag on the image description page to signify this.
== How to prevent someone from editing my Wikifur page ==

Someone who appears to have a vendetta against me because of a comment I made in his LJ is putting this quote on the Wikifur page I created that I've tried to remove, only for him to constantly put it back. How can I block him from editing my page? Thanks.

--[[User:Jeremy, the Duke of Otterland|Jeremy, the Duke of Otterland]]

:Firstly, please be aware that it is not "your page". It is "the page about you". The page which is "your page" is [[User:Jeremy, the Duke of Otterland]], which is typically written in the first person by you, and will generally only be edited in situations where someone is specifically causing a problem or is making a personal attack on another contributor. The page ''about'' you is written by in the third person by '''everyone'''. The plus side is that it has some appearance of impartiality, and with some cause . . . because the downside is that it reflects people's opinions of you, which may not always be to your credit.

:The best way to avoid this is to avoid deliberately pissing other people off so they don't feel the need to raise an issue about it in the first place. :-) Failing that, note your objection on the discussion page attached to the article, and others can figure out how best to present the appropriate information while retaining a [[Wikipedia:Neutral point of view|neutral]]. We can usually figure out a way that works for everyone.

:I've made an edit that makes it clear that the quote is a reference for a specific part of the article, and linked it with appropriate text. Perhaps this is a good solution for this particular problem?

:Personally, I don't feel politics is much to do with [[furry fandom]], and would prefer to keep it out of the site as much as possible. There are [[wikia:Campaigns|other places for that]].
== Untitled! comic article. ==

Hello, I'm the creator of the webcomic ''[[Untitled!]]'' and I don't particularly want it listed on this site. Is there any way I can have the article removed?
--13:10, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

:Hi there! In a few words: No, because it's a public work of interest to the furry community, but if you don't want your real name there you can replace it with a fan name.

:In more words: Our policy is that past or present public creative works that appear to relate to [[furry fandom]] should be listed, regardless or whether or not the creator is a member (past or present) of the fandom or associated communities, and regardless of the author's wishes. Looking at it (and having read it in the past), I would say it meets these criteria.

:We '''do''' have a [[WikiFur:Personal information|personal information policy]] that relates to information about yourself (such as your real name, who you are, and where you live). If you wish to be excluded under this policy, or to request that the page about you be editable only by yourself and administrators (see the policy for details) then you may request that separately. Given the anonymous nature I would request that you send an email to greenreaper AT hotmail DOT com confirming it from an account that can be identified as yours (such as your yahoo account) if you wish this.

:The policy runs into problems when it comes to identifying comics, as it seems inappropriate to list a comic without reference to its author. This has been discussed previously at [[Talk:Guardian Knights]]. However if you do not want your real name listed on this website you could replace it with a fan name that is known as yours - twapa, for example. The intention of this would be that people could find out your contributions to the fandom, but people who are not members of the fandom would not find the page by searching from your real-life name.

:I hope this answers the above. If you have further questions, feel free to reply here or to email me. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 13:34, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

:Also, I would note that if any of the information is inaccurate or incomplete, you are welcome to correct or add to it - we have no policy against comic creators making contributions to the articles about the comics, or about themselves. I ''would'' request that you do not remove accurate information other than as specified above. :-) --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 13:41, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi...I was wondering how I can get my forum hotlinked here like Yiffy.net's is please?

:Hi there! Do you mean you want a page like the one linked here: [[Yiffy.net]]? You can do this by creating a page for the name of the forum that you are on. The [[Help:Editing|editing help page]] tells you how to go about this (the third item down). You should make sure to click the edit button on the Yiffy.net page and look at how it is constructed, as this will help you make a page about your own site. I noticed that some articles (specifically [[Age-locked]]) reference fairly common MUCK commands ([[@lock]], [[exit]]s), but there are no articles created for such. :: I'm not saying that this proposed article(s) is/are a bad idea, I'm just curious at what point do we draw the line between an article about MUCK commands, and something that looks like a technical reference unique to this Wiki? --[[User:Dmuth|Douglas Muth]] 04:46, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

::: Well, I did a bit of looking around, and [http://www.rdwarf.com/users/mink/muckman/index.html MINK's mirror of the FuzzballMUCK manual] says that it "may be freely copied, distributed, quoted, and archived," but I can understand why having articles for individual commands is getting into a grey area.. it's something that is furry-related, as MUCKs are quite common, but also has resources available online. Even more confusing, at least for me, is that some other slightly technical MUCK-related things (ie [[Action]]s) have pages that seem to add little that wouldn't be explained in that help file, while others lack any information at all within WikiFur. I just am unsure which is the better course of action here. [[User:Shira|Shira]] 05:12, 14 September 2006 (UTC)

:::It ''is'' a valid concern that we don't want to be a MUCK reference guide (do we? I think the ones that exist are sufficient . . .). However, the fact that they have been included in an article suggests that they are of particular interest in relation to that article. We could try linking directly to a MUCK reference, or we could build our own articles specifically for those entries. I think the latter is preferable with a focus on the encyclopediaic aspect - for example, ''why'' you might age-lock a room, the history of how that feature came about, etc. It could then link to the documentation. That seems to be the best approach. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 06:08, 14 September 2006 (UTC)
These two articles are both about works of literature written or co-written by [[Ted Blasingame]] ([[User:Dennier]]). Since I am a friend of the author on other websites I was reluctant to revert the edits and have not done so, but my understanding of WikiFur policies is that our exclusion policies don't extend to works of literature, and these works are notable enough within the fandom to merit articles, and as such, the articles should be restored.

Tmdrake: Wiki Doesn't have wysiwyg editor.

'''Pool toy''' in the [[furry fandom]] refers to an inflatable toy, typically made from vinyl, PVC, latex, or similar materials, often designed to resemble [[anthropomorphic]] animals or characters. These items are commonly associated with water play but have gained significant popularity within the fandom for their aesthetic appeal, collectibility, and role in artistic expression, costuming, and subcultures like [[inflatophilia]]. They are sometimes colloquially known as "'''squeaks'''" due to the distinctive squeaking sound produced when the material rubs against itself or other surfaces.

== Overview ==

Pool toys in the furry context extend beyond standard commercial inflatables (such as beach balls or generic animal floats) to include custom-designed pieces that embody furry characters, or "[[fursona]]s." These can range from simple animal-shaped floats to elaborate anthropomorphic figures with detailed features like printed fur patterns, facial expressions, and accessories. The appeal often lies in their shiny, glossy appearance, lightweight nature, and the tactile experience of inflation and deflation.

The term "squeak" is multifaceted: it describes the auditory effect of the material, serves as a verb for interacting with the toys (e.g., "squeaking" by rubbing them), and is used as a noun for the toys themselves or enthusiasts. Subcommunities frequently share art, photography, and discussions around these items on platforms such as Reddit (e.g., r/PoolToyFurries) and [[X]] (formerly Twitter).

== History and development ==

The integration of pool toys into the furry fandom can be traced to the early 2000s, coinciding with the rise of online furry communities and the accessibility of custom manufacturing. Early examples included modifications of off-the-shelf inflatables, such as adding anthropomorphic features to standard pool floats. By the mid-2010s, dedicated creators and companies emerged, producing fandom-specific designs.

Notable milestones include:
* The establishment of online stores like Horseplay Toys (founded around 2015), which specializes in furry-themed inflatables without AI-generated art, emphasizing hand-drawn designs by fandom artists.
* The popularity of YouTube content exploring their prominence in the fandom, highlighting standout designs like green alligators and sea dinosaurs.
* Documentaries and community events focusing on collectors and their attachments to these items.
* The [[COVID-19 pandemic]] accelerated interest in virtual representations, with communities like [[Virtual Pool Party]] in [[VRChat]] focusing on avatar creation centered around inflatable pool toys.

== Popularity in the fandom ==

Pool toys resonate in the furry fandom for several reasons:
* '''Aesthetic and sensory appeal''': Their bright colors, smooth textures, and inflatable nature align with themes of transformation, whimsy, and exaggeration common in furry art.
* '''Collectibility''': Enthusiasts often amass collections, with rare or custom pieces becoming status symbols. Examples include limited-edition runs from artists and makers.
* '''Art and media''': Pool toys frequently appear in furry artwork, animations, and photography.
* '''Subcultural overlaps''': There is a strong connection to [[inflatophilia]] (inflation fetish), where toys are used in role-play or as props. Related interests include [[balloonie]]s (living balloon creatures) and latex/rubber suits.
* '''Events and communities''': Conventions feature panels on pool toys, and hashtags encourage sharing. Custom makers produce one-off pieces, such as fandom-specific characters.

Challenges include material durability (prone to punctures) and misconceptions associating them solely with fetish elements, though many enjoy them platonically for fun or nostalgia.

== Types of pool toys in the fandom ==

* '''Standard inflatables''': Modified commercial toys, like beach balls or animal floats, customized with furry motifs.
* '''Custom anthropomorphic designs''': Fully bespoke items resembling fursonas, often with printed details.
* '''Wearable suits''': Inflatable costumes that turn the wearer into a pool toy, sometimes faceless for immersion.
* '''Hybrid forms''': Combinations with plush elements or tech, like squeaker inserts for added sound effects.
* '''Digital and virtual''': 3D models or VR avatars mimicking pool toys.

Notable examples include characters like [[Cyrin]] (an inflatable dolphin) and various custom designs shared in the community.

== Notable creators and companies ==

* '''Horseplay Toys''': Focuses on cute, lewd, and kinky designs for beach or bedroom use.
* '''PuffyPaws''': Designs and distributes funny animal/furry/anthro inflatable toys, offering custom commissions.
* Other makers: PhenodToy, Candy Coated, and various latex-focused creators.
WikiFur entries on characters like Cyrin (an inflatable dolphin) and groups like Camonetting illustrate this overlap.
Events and Communities: Conventions feature panels on pool toys (e.g., VF25 Pool Toy Panel), and hashtags like #SqueakySaturday on X encourage sharing. Custom makers like PhenodToy produce one-off pieces, such as a Zap Husky-themed inflatable.

Challenges include material durability (prone to punctures) and misconceptions associating them solely with fetish elements, though many enjoy them platonically for fun or nostalgia.
Types of Pool Toys in the Fandom

Standard Inflatables: Modified commercial toys, like beach balls or animal floats, customized with furry motifs.
Wearable Suits: Inflatable costumes that turn the wearer into a pool toy, sometimes faceless for immersion (e.g., Squeak Latex's avaliible suits).
Hybrid Forms: Combinations with plush elements or tech, like squeaker inserts for added sound effects.
Digital and Virtual: 3D models or VR avatars mimicking pool toys.

Pool Toy
A '''pool toy''' in the [[furry fandom]] refers to an inflatable toy, typically made from vinyl, PVC, latex, or similar materials, often designed to resemble anthropomorphic animals or characters. These items are commonly associated with water play but have gained significant popularity within the fandom for their aesthetic appeal, collectibility, and role in artistic expression, costuming, and subcultures like [[inflatophilia]]. They are sometimes colloquially known as "squeaks" due to the distinctive squeaking sound produced when the material rubs against itself or other surfaces.
Overview
Pool toys in the furry context extend beyond standard commercial inflatables (such as beach balls or generic animal floats) to include custom-designed pieces that embody furry characters, or "fursonas." These can range from simple animal-shaped floats to elaborate anthropomorphic figures with detailed features like printed fur patterns, facial expressions, and accessories.
Subcommunities, such as those on Reddit (e.g., r/PoolToyFurries) and social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), frequently share art, photography, and discussions around these items.
History and Development
The integration of pool toys into the furry fandom can be traced back to the early 2000s, coinciding with the rise of online furry communities and the accessibility of custom manufacturing. Early examples included modifications of off-the-shelf inflatables, such as adding anthropomorphic features to standard pool floats. By the mid-2010s, dedicated creators and companies emerged, producing fandom-specific designs.
Notable milestones include:

The establishment of online stores like Horseplay Toys (founded around 2015), which specializes in furry-themed inflatables without AI-generated art, emphasizing hand-drawn designs by fandom artists.
The popularity of YouTube content, such as "Furry Things: POOLTOYS & INFLATABLES!" (2020s), which explores their prominence in the fandom, highlighting standout designs like green alligators and sea dinosaurs.
Documentaries like "Inflatables and the adults who love collecting them" (part of the "Beyond the Fandom" series), which delve into the personal stories of collectors and their emotional attachments to these items.

The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated interest in virtual representations, with communities like Virtual Pool Party in VRChat focusing on avatar creation centered around inflatable pool toys.
Popularity in the Fandom
Pool toys resonate in the furry fandom for several reasons:

Aesthetic and Sensory Appeal: Their bright colors, smooth textures, and inflatable nature align with themes of transformation, whimsy, and exaggeration common in furry art.
Collectibility: Enthusiasts often amass collections, with rare or custom pieces becoming status symbols. Examples include limited-edition runs from artists like Squeak Latex, which offered suits transforming wearers into "living pool toys" (e.g., a puppy design in 2016).
Art and Media: Pool toys frequently appear in furry artwork, animations, and photography. Artists like Cocoa Milki have created digital renders of pool toy versions of characters, while TikTok skits and Instagram reels showcase "squeaky" interactions.
Subcultural Overlaps: There is a strong connection to inflatophilia (inflation fetish), where toys are used in role-play or as props. Related interests include balloonies (living balloon creatures) and latex/rubber suits. WikiFur entries on characters like Cyrin (an inflatable dolphin) and groups like Camonetting illustrate this overlap.
