Fuzzi.es, formerly known as NotFurNet (aka NFN), is a small furry-oriented IRC network targeted towards those who prefer an environment somewhat different from either Anthrochat or FurNet.

Network statement and history
Priding itself in its focus on user-harmony rather than traditional network management, the Fuzzi.es network seeks to foster a mature environment for its denizens to mingle within while also keeping a balance between operator involvement and user autonomy. The network originated from the mutual technological interests of Fae'liin M'taali and Keyla when, after extensive deliberation, it was discovered that neither party completely enjoyed the then-recent climate shifts on the Anthrochat and FurNet networks. Desiring something more inviting and wishing to offer something to the furry community at large, they merged resources and NotFurNet was born as it exists now.

The roster of servers initially changed somewhat regularly while the network worked toward stable geographic distribution, and was summarily reduced to present size as the infrastructure was more than adequate to bear its base of users.

History and Timeline
* Autumn 2008: Fae'liin M'taali creates first node (naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com) as a private gathering due to dissatisfaction with the management styles of other furry IRC networks.
* Summer 2009: Official opening of NotFurNet as an IRC community. A second node owned by Keyla is added to the network to foster greater geographic coverage and expand the user capacity of the network. A partnership is formed with the now-defunct FurSpace community and a third node linked to the network as frostedbutts.notfurnet.com to assist the network in coping with the sudden influx of FurSpace users.
* Winter 2009: Due to connectivity issues arising from relocation, network services are transferred from naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com to whiteforest.notfurnet.com, which is renamed wolf.notfurnet.com for the convenience of the users.
* Winter 2010: FurSpace and frostedbutts.notfurnet.com splits from the network due to differing administrative needs.
* Spring 2011: basementcat.notfurnet.com is introduced to the network to take the place of frostedbutts, as many FurSpace users remain after the split.
* Autumn 2011: The NotFurNet forum is opened to the general population, previously having been for staff-user only. goocat.notfurnet.com, owned by Tamber, is linked into the network.
* Winter 2011: foxsky.notfurnet.com is added to the network, administrated by Kyriin. A ticketing system is opened for users to submit questions, comments, issues, and suggestions.
* Spring 2012: The network changes its name to fuzzi.es after the staff and users agree that the original name could cause confusion among users or other networks, specifically FurNet.
* Spring 2017: Network defunct, only wolf.fuzzi.es, goocat.fuzzi.es, and slave.fuzzi.es remaining at this point. These remaining servers gradually shut-down since.

Network features
In addition to the standard features of most furry networks such as SSL-encrypted connections, host-cloaking, and "vHost" availability, Fuzzi.es has implemented many other services for the convenience and utility of its user base. Additionally, users of the network are encouraged to give suggestions to the network staff for new features and policies as needs arise.

* Personalized SWHOIS support (an additional line that can be added to one's /whois to give information, make a witty statement, etc.) for all users, not only members of staff. This feature is currently being adapted for use in a web-based profiling system.
* Support for multiple "true" founders of one channel, as opposed to the limited access provided by the ChanServ "IDENTIFY" function.
* IPv6 Connectivity to all nodes on the network.
* BNC and network-branded email services for donating users, each with a wealth of available enhancements available.

Connection options
* All servers are listening on the standard IRC port of 6667. Please note that as Fuzzi.es encourages users to use SSL, this port is slated to be closed in favor of offering SSL-encrypted connections only.
* All servers have SSL/TLS support on port 6697, though the certificates are self-signed and are therefore reported as "invalid" by most IRC clients. These are slated to be replaced by Fae'liin M'taali once logistics have been accounted for.

Tamber: Confirmation of defunct network

Request
:Moved from page --GreenReaper(talk) 14:41, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

I (Fae'liin M'taali) as administrator of NotFurNet blanked this page because I do not wish my personal projects or information be be available here at this time. As I obviously do not have an account, I understand the reversion of the page.

Could you please delete and/or lock this page as blank. The user who made this page (Indrora) was told explicitly via IRC not to do so, and did not have my blessing. I would be very thankful if you could remove this entry, as it was both unauthorized and unwanted.

Thank you for your time. If you have more questions, I am available via IRC (Fae`liin_M`taali) on Anthrochat, FurNet, and NotFurNet.

~Fae`liin M`taali, NotFurNet Founder.

:I'm the guy who did this. I actually did it for the fact that I was tired of having to explain shitloads every time I mentioned NFN -- Even to people who use FurSpace -- and to some who live on other networks normally. Either way, I have taken the issue up with Fae, everything is basically cool now. </drama>

Deletion?
Hold on a sec - since when did we delete articles not about people on request? --GreenReaper(talk) 14:17, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

:I will ask a couple of the admin of the validity or not of the deletion of a private service. I have no problems with it, but =/ ;... - Spirou 14:20, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

::And that's why I need to inquire about what what I'm about to do is correct, Fae`liin M`taali - Spirou 14:23, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

:::I do. Their service runs FurSpace's live chat, is publicly accessible, and there's nothing "personal" on here. Service owners/operators have no special control over the articles about their services. --GreenReaper(talk) 14:57, 31 March 2010 (UTC)

defunct?
Is this IRC network defunct? Tried their website and all i got was "nope". Article says IRC can be reached at irc://www.fuzzi.es/ but I doubt the "www" should be that IRC link, attempted to connect to irc://irc.fuzzi.es and the four servers listed and could not connect. --EarthFurst (talk) 01:23, 12 April 2022 (EDT)

Yeah. Defunct since early 2017, by which point there were only `goocat` and `wolf` still loosely connected. Tamber (talk) 14:09, 12 April 2022 (EDT)

The roster of servers has changed over time, but was eventually reduced due to both unstable nodes and the realization that the original infrastructure was more than enough to bear the present size of the user base.

Timeline
* April 2009 - NotFurNet began with Fae'liin M'taali's personal IRC server that had been running since late 2008, which would later become naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com. Around June of 2009, Keyla started an IRCd on his personal server and linked it into the network as whiteforest.notfurnet.com. Early on it was primarily an invite-only network — it was difficult to find without being explicitly invited to it.
* July 2009 - The network became more open to the public around July of 2009. It was around this time that NotFurNet formed a partnership with FurSpace and frostedbutts.notfurnet.com (hosted on the same server as furspace.com) was linked into the network. Also around this time, wolf.notfurnet.com was brought online.
* Early 2010 - Due to connectivity issues with naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com, services were moved to wolf.notfurnet.com with the intent of moving back once the connection issues were resolved. However, the move has remained permanent so far as there have been no stability issues with services since.
* Summer 2010 - In mid-2010, caocao.notfurnet.com was added to the network. However, due to oper issues, the server was delinked a short while after it had been brought online, and should be considered indefinitely offline.
* September 2010 - In late September of 2010, wolf.notfurnet.com was upgraded from a 12Mbps DSL connection to an 18Mbps connection. Unfortunately due to bad wiring, this caused the network to suffer as many as 15 netsplits daily for approximately a week, as the DSL connection continuously dropped. As of October 2010, however, this issue is resolved.
* January 2011 - On January 14, 2011, naughtyfoxkitty.notfurnet.com was reinstated with an upgraded connection (15Mbps) after two months of time offline due to moving and power complications.
* February 2011 - Due to differing administrative needs, FurSpace and frostedbutts.notfurnet.com has split from the network and is now using their own IRCd. Fae'liin M'taali has also created a new network website, though some of the advanced features are still under development at the time of this writing.
* May 10, 2011 - A new server, basementcat.notfurnet.com, was introduced to the network. Basementcat.notfurnet.com is hosted on a VPS owned by Keyla and as of the date of introduction is managed by him.
* October 2, 2011 - The NotFurNet forum, previously only used for staff discussions, was opened to the general population. Though the forum is associated with NotFurNet, it is an independent service from the IRC network.
* October 28, 2011 - goocat.notfurnet.com was linked into the network. GooCat is owned and run by Tamber.
* January 2012 - foxsky.notfurnet.com was added to the network. Foxsky is owned by Kyriin.
* February 14th, 2012 - A ticketing system was opened for users to submit questions, comments, problems, and suggestions to the network administrators.
* May 31st, 2012 - Network undergoes a naming change, from NotFurNet, to fuzzi.es; to reduce potential confusion between networks over the name.

Staff
* Fae'liin M'taali, IRC handle Fae`liin_M`taali (Cofounder). Server: naughtyfoxkitty.fuzzi.es.
* Ryft Darkpaw, IRC handle Ryft (Network administrator). Server: naughtyfoxkitty.fuzzi.es.
* Keyla (Cofounder). Server: fuzzi.es.
* Mr Wolf, IRC handle MrWolf (Network administrator). Server: wolf.fuzzi.es.
* Tamber (Server administrator). Server: goocat.fuzzi.es.
* Novu Ferret, IRC handle Novu_Ferret (Global operator). Server: wolf.fuzzi.es.
* Kyriin (Server administrator). Server: foxsky.fuzzi.es.

* Support for multiple "true" founders of one channel, as opposed to the limited access provided by the ChanServ "IDENTIFY" function.
* [WIP] IPv6 Connectivity to all nodes on the network.

Connection options
* For now, all servers are available using their old (.notfurnet.com) hostnames; to ease transition. It is advised that users update their settings as soon as possible, however.
* All servers are listening on the standard IRC port, 6667 - some servers may listen on additional ports as listed in their MOTDs.
* All servers have SSL/TLS support on port 6697, though the certificates are self-signed and are therefore reported as "invalid" by most IRC clients.
* Users using IPv6 should automatically be connected to goocat.fuzzi.es if they connect to irc.fuzzi.es.

Sorry
Sorry I had to put you and the editors through so much correcting my mistakes on articles I wrote. I read the Furry Book of Style and used some articles as a reference. I also cleaned up a few I contributed. Again, so sorry for the extra work you and the editors had to do! But thanks for the suggestions! VivianFerrox

Blink Dog article concerns
Hi, Spirou, thanks for your response. I agree that the article I did on blink dogs is probably too long and, yes, not directly related to anthropomorphics. However, it was intended to be a species article (I may have miscategorized it? I tried to put it under Dungeons and Dragons fictitious species.) The article on dingos isn't specifically furry, either, as dingos aren't two-legged until someone draws them that way. I hadn't yet built the related article or subcategory for blink dog species characters (there are three of us! We're the new husky!) particularly since I'm not totally sure I understand how page categorization works. I'm still learning, this was my first article. While I do agree that the article wasn't focused on furries or anthro characters, I'm not sure that consistently applies to species pages, because they're the basis of what an animal persona is built from, and all of them generally read like encyclopedia articles about the species. Let me know what you think, thanks again! Fades

Furnal Equinox article concerns
I wanted to approach you in your role as a WikiFur curator with regards to the edits on Furnal Equinox. First of all, I appreciate that the goal of WikiFur tends towards preservation of the historical fact, and apologize that the proceedings have dragged on as long as we have. My concern is that User:Dan Skunk has a vested interest in the content of the article (this should be VERY clear based upon how much of the article involves him). Most notably, a set of edits that I made, which did nothing to censor content (rather rearrange it), were reverted and dismissed as "censoring criticism". If what I can expect going forward is that any legitimate edits will be vociferously reversed, that isn't acceptable to me. I'm having a sense of "victim, judge, jury and executioner" right now, which can't be good for the wiki ideal.
Dan and the staff of Furnal Equinox (including myself) have thus far failed to come to a consensus and I don't see one coming at any time in the near future for reasons that go well beyond the bounds of WikiFur. The article needs some sort of arbitration or other third-party intervention to assess what content is relevant, and how it should be presented. Is there any process that we can work through to accomplish this? Feel free to respond on my talk page. --Scani 21:15, 5 October 2011 (EDT)

:The committee has never existed. Some of the furs in that list are not even partaking in the fandom any more. Not sure who posted it up but its false information. ::"The committee has never existed" Your edit was not clear to begun with, that's why the question and reversal. A more clear explanation on the talk page page of the article will save people from second guessing in the future. No, the edit was "perfectly understandable". I.e. "Doesn't exist"= It was, it ceased to be./"Doesn't exist"= Discussed, it never came to be./"Doesn't exist"= It never existed. Hello Spirou, I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to contact you because I absolutely prefer e-mail, but if this is the medium for making requests, then I'll play ball. I am KaputOtter and can furnish proof for you if you require it.

I would like to request that the current changes I made to my profile be honored and without rollback. Certain information that was recently rolled back is no longer consistent with my life and I had made my entry more accurate as a result. Please keep my information accurate to my changes. I appreciate it.

Thank you! KaputOtter

:Hello, KaputOtter, you can take or add as much personal information to your article as you wish (with some rare exceptions, see "Sibe"), as long as it follows Wikifur's article formatting. If the information is an update, specially personal, it is normally respected. Be advised that future editors may add some information back because they may not be aware of your wishes, not because of trolling. It can be re-edit out.

:In short, your edit was fine if said info was old or personal, as long it doesn't break format. A point; I would recommend for you to create an account with your "KaputOtter". It will prevent somebody taking over it, and tell us that you are indeed 'KaputOtter" in case of discussions =) Spirou 00:22, 2 January 2012 (EST)

copyedit

Fuzzi.es, formerly known as NotFurNet (aka NFN), is a small furry-oriented IRC network targeted towards those who prefer an environment somewhat different from either Anthrochat or Furnet.

Network statement and history
Priding itself in it's focus on user-harmony rather than traditional network management, the Fuzzi.es network seeks to foster a mature environment for it's denizens to mingle within while also keeping a balance between operator involvement and user autonomy.

NotFurNet, also known as NFN, is a small furry-oriented IRC network targeted towards those who prefer an environment somewhat different from either Anthrochat or Furnet.

Network statement and history
Priding itself in it's focus on user-harmony rather than traditional network management, the NotFurNet network seeks to foster a mature environment for it's denizens to mingle within while also keeping a balance between operator involvement and user autonomy.

GooCat is owned and run by Tamber, and is the only non-US server as well as the only server supporting IPv6.
* January 2012 - foxsky.notfurnet.com was added to the network. Foxsky is owned by Kyriin.
* February 14th, 2012 - A ticketing system was opened for users to submit questions, comments, problems, and suggestions to the network administrators.

Network features
In addition to the standard features of most furry networks such as SSL-encrypted connections, host-cloaking, and "vHost" availability, NotFurNet as implemented many other services for the convenience and utility of its user base. Additionally, users of the network are encouraged to give suggestions to the network staff for new features and policies as needs arise.

* Personalized SWHOIS support (an additional line that can be added to one's /whois to give information, make a witty statement, etc.) for all users, not only members of staff.
* Support for multiple "true" founders of one channel, as opposed to the limited access provided by the ChanServ "IDENTIFY" function.
* [WIP] IPv6 Connectivity to all nodes on the network.

Connection options
* All servers are listening on the standard IRC port, 6667 - some servers may listen on additional ports as listed in their MOTDs.
* All servers have SSL/TLS support on port 6697, though the certificates are self-signed and are therefore reported as "invalid" by most IRC clients.
* Users using IPv6 should automatically be connected to goocat.notfurnet.com if they connect to irc.notfurnet.com.
