The [http://www.furries.info/novel-list.html Furry Novel List] by [[Dave Farrance]] has not been updated since 2001. <ref>[http://www.anvil.demon.co.uk/furry-novels.txt Archived copy of the Furry Novel List]</ref> As a result there has not been an up-to-date source for published works relating to the fandom. Many novels on the list are long out of print, obscure and difficult to find.

But now [[Wikipedia:Amazon.com|Amazon.com’s]] system of tagging products has led 22 users to mark 90 novels, non-fiction works, DVDs and CDs with the tag ''furry''. Searching this tag on Amazon.com allows users to see all products labeled, creating a linked list of products of interest to the fandom.

Tagged items include:
* Novels in the ''[[Redwall]]'' series
* ''[[Watership Down]]''
* [[Dinosaur|Saurian]] and [[dragon]] literature (i.e. ''[[Raptor Red]]'' and ''[[Dinotopia]]'')
* DVDs such as ''[[Brother Bear]]'' and ''[[Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]]''
* Various ''[[Sofawolf]]'' publications (''Breaking the Ice'')
* Nonfiction books dealing with spirituality (''Totem Magic'')

Though the list is not as comprehensive as the original Novel List, it provides links to products currently available at Amazon.com, which means they will be easier to obtain.

As more items are tagged by users, the resulting list from searching the tag ''furry'' on Amazon could become the new, definitive Furry Novel List.

'''Furotica''', also known as [[furry]] [[Wikipedia:erotica|erotica]] or furry [[Wikipedia:porn|pornography]], is a term for sexually explicit or sexually suggestive art and stories featuring [[anthropomorphic]] [[animal]] characters.

The term is ambiguous in the sense that it is unclear whether it applies strictly to the creations of writers and artists within furry fandom, or whether it could plausibly include such cases from outside the fandom as the Greek myth of Leda and the swan (in which the god Zeus transforms himself into a magnificent [[bird]] for the purpose of raping a mortal girl). Furthermore, if sexually suggestive pin-up drawings of furry characters fall into the furotica category, this raises questions about how some images could possibly escape that categorization: [[Minerva Mink]]'s vampy routine on the children's show [[Animaniacs]], for example, or [[Bugs Bunny]]'s highly suggestive behavior in his many onscreen appearances in drag.

Furotica comprises a large percentage of all furry art. This has led to many non-furries' first interaction with the fandom being an encounter with sexual material of varying quality and content. This interaction, sometimes called "squicking the [[mundanes]]" (a phrase in use among SF/fantasy fans, as well as furries) is considered to be a prank of sorts, but most often the mundane simply stumbles across furotica while seeking something else.

Furry erotica is not thought well of by some outside the fandom itself. In [[The Geek Hierarchy]], Erotic Furries (sic) are ranked just below Furries as a whole, and just above "[[Star Trek]] [[fanfic]], written as furry erotica, with Kirk as an ocelot (or something), and the author being the star and his own personal furry as well."

The definitions of erotica and pornography hinge upon our notions of arousal, taste, the beautiful, the grotesque, and the disgusting; and furotica, as a concept and as an array of artistic creations, is ripe for serious analysis, criticism, and debate. This is not to forget that its primary purpose is of course enjoyment.

They are obviously not a regular user, otherwise they would indeed have signed their comment - and made the edit with a registered account. That edit to the talk page was their [[Special:Contributions/89.48.235.195|only contribution so far]]. There is therefore little to say about them, other than that their IP address resolved to the name "Lebc3.l.pppool.de" - probably a dialup account in Germany.

:I would suggest you pay as much attention to you as someone who posts once on a forum anonymously to insult you, never having contributed to that forum before - that is, precisely no attention at all. If your English is not the best, so what? You are German! The fact that you can write English at all is better than most English people could do with German. I've read with interest the discussion on Sibe, specifically your comment:

Does this mean Wikifur will not be so much as a source of neutral information, but that Wikifur will now become adversarial in relations to information about people who you (singularly or collectively) believe have wronged Furry? Do you feel that it's now your job/right/reponsibility to punish these people by using Wikifur as a "bully pulpit"?

I hope this isn't the case. Wikifur, despite a healthy dose of pro-Furry slobbery, has been a respectable source of neutral information.

:You'd have to put that question to the wider community for a full answer, as it's a question about where they want WikiFur to go. I'm one of the editors leading the project, but there are others. Still, I can provide some explanation, and the answer I would give is basically "no, but we're not going to go out of our way to do such people any favours either."

:The information on the individuals itself ''should'' unquestionably be neutral and factual (no, this doesn't always happen, and if you see a problem, please explain why and fix it). The only choice we have been making in some cases is whether or not to ''remove'' that neutral information (or some of it) on request, per the [[WikiFur:Personal information|personal information policy]]. This might well ''not'' be a neutral decision, because this is a community made up of members of the furry fandom, and as it is our website it is up to us to decide whether or not that is appropriate. Ultimately our role is to serve the best interests of the fandom, and that generally means trying not to hurt those who are or have been worthwhile members of it. We may care less about the possibility of hurting other people.

:If a person is just a regular member of the fandom - maybe well-regarded, maybe just "one of the gang", then people tend not to fuss too much if they want to remove personal information - and if they have not really done all that much special, that might include the entire article about them (if not, then references to them might remain in other articles). If an individual has, over time, given the community a significant amount of grief, they are likely to say "no, this person is just trying to hide from the problems they have caused" and deny the request. In short, if they've had no respect for our community, then we as a community are likely to have as little respect for them. That is why exclusions that may be contentious go to talk pages - so that the community can decide what to do in that particular situation.

:These sorts of situation are fortunately pretty rare. In Sibe's case, though, his "bothering" was widely commented-on, were intimately connected to his person (not any external group), and occured over a long period of time. If WikiFur is recording furry history, it makes little sense to exclude him, particularly given that he has shown no reticence (or regret) on occasion over detailing the lives of others where it suited ''him''. We're perfectly aware that he doesn't like it being up there, but over time he's pissed off enough people in the fandom that few seem to care about what he feels anymore.

:The thing is, all we have to do is say the truth. His own actions are what comdemn him. We don't even need to say they were bad. If telling the truth about someone makes them look bad in the eyes of the reader, then it's a fair bet that they deserve it.

:This situation of information removal based on respect does not really apply to groups, whatever the standing of the group in the community. I would not support removing the history of the [[Burned Furs]], for example, or that of [[Sociopolitical Ramifications]], or [[FurryMUCK]], because these are important groups that have had a historical impact on the fandom. Maybe if it was a really small and personal group that hasn't . . . again, that'd be discussed on the appropriate talk pages.

One final question: why is it so common to list the real names of people who've had adversarial relations with furry but not with those individuals considered friendly to the fandom? Why are real names included at all?

:There might be various reasons for the inclusion of real names. For some people, their real name is just one item of information about them, such as the colour of their character's fur. Other people might not '''have''' nicknames that are well-known within the fandom (but really, this applies as much if not more to people "friendly to the fandom" as to others). In that case, it seems appropriate to use their real name, just as we tend to use the real name of artists that have used it as their identifier in the fandom.

:In some cases, there may have been a good reason to find out the real name of a person, particularly if it might allow members of the furry fandom to more easily identify a person who is using a variety of nicknames or even their real name in a different venue (we can't say "go look at Laurence's posts in forum X" without telling them who Laurence is). It might also be that people are just more inclined to include the real names of people that they don't like, in the hope that others outside the fandom will see what that person is like. This is not ideal editing, but if the person concerned doesn't request the removal of their name, it will not be changed - the article will be reworded to be based solely on facts if possible, or removed if not.

:The question perhaps shouldn't be "why are real names included at all", but "why aren't real names included for everyone?". Ultimately, aritcles should be under the name which people would link to, and so that is the only name that '''has''' to be there. In the furry fandom, this is more often than not the person's fan name, if they have one. They may only use this name, or they may use their real name as well. If so, people may or may not decide to add it, but it's not considered critical if it's not usually used. Even if a person's real name ''is'' regularly used, in general we will on request remove a person's real name and replace it with their fan name/nickname when describing them, whether or not they are/have been members of the fandom. However, members of the fandom are a) more likely to request this, becuase more of them come here, b) are (slightly) more likely to have such a request accepted (because if non-members are listed here it is usually because they are either famous or infamous, not just because they're furry), and c) are more likely to have such nicknames to use in the first place (we can't exactly say "The comic Fuzzy Things, authored by {blank} . . .").

::There's also one other possible point on Sibe that you might want to run by an attorney, since the status of Wiki's as "legitimate publications" is still in legal limbo: Sibe is legally a "private figure" and his actions in Furry do not make him, in the legal sense, a "public figure" (both of these are legal terms). As a private individual, he's afforded certain legal protections about what information can be revealed. These protections may or may not cover his criminal record or other information. I think it would be worth your time to consult with someone from the EFF and make sure you haven't crossed the line. While you say that you're just one editor, if no other person can over-rule your edits without your consent, it's your "publication". As such, even if Sibe were to decide to come after Wikifur ''et al'' for any damages the publication of protected information caused him (if any such protections exist at all), you'd still be on the line. Again, the law regarding this may or may not cover him.

:::I agree (unlike some) that Sibe is a private figure, and as such someone ''might'' be liable if we were negligent in publishing made-up facts, even if we did not act with the knowledge that they were false (or with reckless disregard as to whether or not they were false). Other than that, it's pretty much fair game and up to the community to decide what it ''should'' publish, in a moral sense.

Seeing as how Wikipedia has a project that concetrates on improving the quality and quantity of gaming articles, may I suggest implementing a similiar project? The amount of games with furry elements is not a small one, and it would be very helpful, if information about those games (most are old, PC DOS titles, which run perfectly under DosBox) was included in one place, for sake of completeness and subject coverage.

Especially games like [[Project Nomad]] could use that coverage, as they have literally truckloads of content, and it would be helpful to store it in one place, much like [[Albion (video game)|Albion]]'s articles are done.

:Seems like a nice enough idea. We already have [[WikiFur:Project Fursuit Central|something similar]] for [[fursuit]]ing, although that's been slow recently. The trouble is there are few "meta"-editors at this time, and so you may find it hard to gather contributors to help you out. I would suggest that you concentrate on one or two particular projects at a time so that it doesn't bog down in needing to do 10 different things at once. :-)

:Could you be more specific about what you're trying to do? If you have a GFDL essay from another place, then in general it's fine to just copy it here into a new page as long as you give attribution for the people who wrote it (for example, with Wikipedia you would link to the history page) and preferably link back to the original source. Of course, it would have to fit the topic of the wiki, and be neutral in tone. I am not trying to be a pain in the rear here, but I wonder about the claim on the furcadia article that says that it has been around since 1996. I was following this stuff back in the late nineties and I was pretty surprised to hear that. Wolfhome was one of the first websites featuring multi-user chat and I don't remember furcadia.com being around. We were running a company by 2000. While I didn't do an exhaustive search, I am surprised that a furry chat site that would have been a direct competitor to Wolfhome escaped me. Wolfhome started on Gre7g Luterman's site, TempleOfLuna.com, back on October 31st, 1999.

The other thing that I discovered is that the whois record for Furcadia.com was created in 1999 (see below). Add to that a web search on the "Wayback Machine" http://web.archive.org, which tracks websites back to the mid nineties, which shows that in 1999, furcadia.com was a placeholder site:

I see that earlier today you blocked User:216.224.121.151. It struck me as odd that there have also been a couple of good edits from the very similar address User:216.224.121.141 (knowing that sometimes a vandal who gets blocked will simply switch to a different workstation, which often has a very similar IP; this time, however, that did not appear to be the case).

Then I tried to make a couple of edits, while logged in, and was told that I couldn't because my IP address, 216.224.121.151, has been blocked. I retried a couple of times, and my edit finally took - not sure what changed, but there you go.

Then finally, I ran nslookup on 216.224.121.151, and it returned ut4.sjc.wikia-inc.com. I tried 216.224.121.141 and it returned cache1.sjc.wikia-inc.com. Curioser and curioser. :Unfortunately, WikiFur ''isn't'' a reliable source, at least not in Wikipedia's terms. Someone could come by and change anything at any time. Articles are not guaranteed to be peer-reviewed - indeed, there is no particularly certainty that information on WikiFur has been checked by anyone. Contributions are, in many cases, anonymous. If you want to have an article at Wikipedia, you need to give proper references to the primary sources (the comics themselves), or to secondary sources that have been published in some kind of guaranteed editorially-reviewed medium, like a comic review in a published [[fanzine]] (or better).

:Consider: You wrote most of the pages on WikiFur about the comic. Who's to say you weren't making up half of the stuff you wrote? You can see their situation - they can't just rely on your words for its accuracy. It is not that it is a furry comic. It is the entire article is your original creation, and you've not backed it up with links that show the source of the facts that you state. Go look at [[Wikipedia:Samuel Conway|this article]] for an example of what I mean. We've talked before about a possible Swedish-language furry wiki. It was the least I could do to honor the memory of a fine person and a dedicated Furry (He was a Cheetah because he had freckles...lol).

There's a difference between "could be googled fairly easily" and "everyone will know where buy this item, and will do so without being prompted to do so," and it can often be the difference between a sale and a missed opportunity. I ''would'' probably consider putting a furry-friendly store above a generic link to Amazon.com, but I wouldn't remove a link to Amazon.com if it made it more likely that people would buy whatever it was. The problem is, is that there is no indication of when I was involved. It just says that I was. I've no idea why my name might be up there as I never really did anything in the fandom except create a few pieces of art and almost immediately deleted them within a few months of their creation. I don't know a great deal on the workings of WikiFur, but I am familiar with Wikipedia, and there's one thing I havn't seen here: templates. On Wikipedia, I think in particular of albums, they have -- ah, heck, I'm sure you know what I mean.

My point is that, and correct me if I'm wrong, they don't seem to exist here on wikifur, and assuming there isn't some technical reason for not having them, I think this place can greatly benefit from them. It would make things look more professional, and it would help organize all the information easier.

More ideas soon followed, however, and Geusz added two more novellas to the plot arc: ''Pit Wolf'' and ''Loop Garou'', making the novel more like a collection of three connected short stories.

''Pit'' is about an incompetent amateur sorcerer who killed himself and his family, causing a major upset in the Planes of Reality. ''Loop Garou'' is about a series of murders in Chicago.

Each of these tales is about much more than solving the murder cases they are built around. Far more important are Highridge's personal experiences and the awful, terrible things he must go through in order to perform his job.

There is some bad physics, sound hiss, nearsighted depth-of-field shots, confusing camera angles, some missing sound effects, and the insides of the character’s mouths are not rendered correctly (especially visible in the final scene). But one important point should be remembered: this film is intended as a "Proof of Concept." It is meant to show that an amateur with a low budget and consumer-grade equipment (totaling less than $5,000) can produce animation that is comparable to large, commercial Hollywood studios.

The story follows [[Magnus Mangreer]], a young [[arctic fox]] practitioner of the art of [[Kaparjutsu]], the sacred art of the gun, as he travels back to his home city of [[Cratecentra]] after training at the Medina School of Kaparjutsu. His teacher, [[T'shelle]], an older yet still-talented [[Red Fox]] and Master of the Art accompanies him, as she is on a pilgramage to the legendary [[Temple of Errarat]]. On their journey, a secretive group of [[cat]] sorcerers send assassins after T'shelle and her companions, fellow Kapar Master [[Jugai]] and the avian Shaman [[Exile]]. Upon his return to Cratecentra, Mangreer finds that his entire family line and personal history had been completely erased by a mysterious force, and those who remain are closed-mouthed about who or what could erase his entire family from existence. The book concludes with a war between gunfighters and magic users, with Mangreer finally learning the mysteries of his past.

Its current editorship is a rather obscure corporation somewhere in an unimportant outskirt of the galaxy named "[[Wikipedia:Wikipedia|Wikipedia]]." The Guide has since taken this as its new, shorter name.

It contains contributions from countless numbers of travelers and researchers, with the end goal being the complete compilation of all knowledge and wisdom in the universe.

This goal presents an enormous problem: given the sheer amount of knowledge to document, something could easily be overlooked and lost in the shuffle. This is why Wikipedia has created no fewer than fifty subdivisions, each of whom is responsible for an individual slice of the pie of wisdom and knowledge. These specialists, working independently, will be less likely to miss the little details that one group of generalists might let be forgotten.

One of the subdivisions, known as "[[WikiFur]]," specializes in what is perhaps the most obscure slice of knowledge known to the galaxy. If not for their efforts, knowledge related to [[anthropomorphic]] animals would have been forgotten completely--which outsiders seem to be actively trying to achieve, and which is the very attitude the editors at WikiFur hope to reverse. '''Welcome (Furry Forest Theme)''' is a rock and roll style song by [[Runtt]]. It was originally written and recorded in 2002 after Runtt met [[Belic Bear]] and his [[mate]], [[K'gra]]. The song is about how he came to find Belic’s web group, [[The Furry Forest]], a PG-rated [[forum]]. Runtt has said that this was the fastest he ever wrote a song.

There are two versions of the song. The first recording can be found on [[Furry Music Foundation|Furrymusic.org]]. Runtt plays all instruments and sings all vocals himself. The second version is available for download on his [[Fur Affinity]] page. This edition is a collaboration of three musicians recording under the band name of [[The Paw Offs]]: Belic Bear on guitars and vocals; [[Sedge Hare]] on bass guitar and vocals; and Runtt on drums, vocals and keyboards. Runtt sings lead on the verses and Belic sings lead on the chorus. The song has minor changes to the lyrics and a faster tempo compared to the original recording. Runtt states that this is a “first draft mix,” and so far it is the band’s only finished song.

I have been a bit befuddled by this criticism since I first read it. I guess its because I know nothing of Japanese culture (I'm not an anime fan by any means, aside from Kaze, Wolf's Rain and Princess Mononoke). How is naming a character 'Wind' any more mocking/sillier than naming characters Fang, Claw, Whiskers or Howl in Wolf's Rain? There is mention of unintentionally making fun of Japanese names and being inaccurate about Japanese culture. I didn’t realize Ghost Warrior was supposed to be a history of Japanese society. Yes, there are elements from Japanese culture and it is anime` inspired, but isn’t this supposed to be seen as an independent society? How will people get the wrong idea of Eastern history from watching Kaze? This film doesn’t take place in Japan, and these characters are not Japanese (especially with those accents :-). This is a separate society.

One could argue that The Lion King mocks African culture. According to its Wikipedia entry, Rafiki means "friend" in Swahili. Is anyone complaining that no one in African would really name their kid friend? And "Hakuna Matata" is grammatically incorrect, but is anyone worried that it mocks African culture?

A few mentioned that the story was nonexistent and poorly written. When taken by itself, yes, but if you watch the first episode of any TV series by itself you’d think the same thing. Most TV series (anime` especially) don’t make much sense if you watch only the first episode. The more you watch, the more sense it makes. You must watch Kaze as if it were the first of a 26-episode series to enjoy it. Does it make you want to see the rest of the story? If so, then its job is done. If not, then you’re not going to be a fan anyway.

My point is that the forum cited as the source of that quote is probably not a good criticism to include in a Wikipedia article. Are they criticizing the animation? No. The dialogue? A little, but not much. Do they even complain about the story? A bit, but much of the criticism is aimed at the ''credits''. They’re calling the credit reel pretentious and pompous--one man getting a big head about the 22 minutes he animated and shoving it in the audience’s face.

The credits? Is that really all they can find wrong with it? If I worked for six months to animate, voice, score, foley and direct something like that I think I’d be entitled to a little self-indulgent humor.

Most of the people on that forum seem to hate everything to begin with and just found a handy forum of other people who hate everything, too. It is wise to include quotes from them in the article?

As is, the article feels slanted to the negative and highlights the criticism instead of presenting what Ghost Warrior actually is. Could anything I said be reworded in a more neutral tone and used to revise the article? I'll think about it... Any other thoughts?

The lyrics pose the question, ''Does anyone else get that feeling?'', implying that the sentiment expressed by the title may be more perception than reality.

The premise of the film is that [[dinosaur]]s did not die off, but faked their extinction and now live among humans in disguise. In the past they wore [[Wikipedia:latex|latex]] suits, but they now use [[Wikipedia:holographic|holographic]] disguises to mask their appearance and coexist with humans without persecution.

The film earned lukewarm reviews. Those who enjoyed it were impressed by the unique concept and [[Wikipedia:film noir|film-noir]] style. At the same time the film was panned for its low-budget special effects and predictable, unexciting story. Fans of the novels (who were expecting a witty, quirky adventure) have called it stiff and humorless. == Plot Overview ==

Vincent Rubio is a [[Wikipedia:Velociraptor|velociraptor]] [[Wikipedia:Private investigator|private investigator]] along with his partner, Ernie Watson, a [[Wikipedia:Triceratops|triceratops]].

When Ernie’s ex-girlfriend’s brother is found dead, the incident is dismissed as suicide. But she doesn’t believe her brother would kill himself and asks Ernie to check it out (“for free,” Vincent observes). They investigate and Vincent notices the [[scent]] of another dinosaur on the windowsill. It was not a suicide.

At the funeral Vincent talks to a man dressed in a strange suit who belongs to the [[Wikipedia:Cult (religious practice)|cult]] that the deceased had joined a while ago, “The Voice of Progress.” He pretends to be interested in their ideals and gets himself and Ernie invited to a gathering. That’s when Vincent catches a familiar scent nearby--the scent that was present in the victim’s bedroom.

Vincent and Ernie go to the cult meeting and hear what the Voice of Progress stands for: they want to give its members their saurian identities back. Dinosaurs are living a lie. They pretend to be something they’re not all their lives by wearing their disguises and it’s stolen their identity, forced them to see themselves as monsters and the humans as normal. This affects Vincent a great deal. Ernie is untouched.

As their investigation continues, Vincent and Ernie come to realize what one man in the cult is planning. He is plotting a revolution. Turning cult members into [[Wikipedia:feral|feral]] dinosaurs and releasing them on the humans. This will force both sides to face each other, and allow dinosaurs to come out of hiding at last. He knows the dinosaurs will win their freedom to live as they are, and not in the lie. Vincent is not sure what side he’s on.

== Notable Differences Between the Book and the Movie ==

The movie preserves the basic concept of ''Casual Rex'' instead of the sequence of events. It is a very loose adaption. Most if not all of the changes are direct results of the budget limitations for a [[Wikipedia:Television movie|made-for-TV movie]]. Because nearly every scene in the novel features dinosaurs, much of the story itself had to change to work inside this limit.

* Dinosaurs revere the element of chance. The Council even makes decisions based on chance. This is not in the book.
* In the books, dinosaurs still wear latex disguises. They put on and take off their disguises frequently, sometimes they unexpectedly come undone, and characters even switch disguises. The film shows very few dinosaurs deactivating their holographic disguises, and even then only the head or hands are briefly shown.
* Ernie does not have a daughter in the books, he is not a triceratops and he is also divorced from his wife, not broke up with his girlfriend.
* The book features numerous scenes of dinosaurs talking to each other without their disguises on. None of this was included in the film. Characters only speak to each other in human form.
* Vincent as a child is briefly seen in a flashback (the only time a full-body, undisguised dinosaur is shown). This flashback does not happen in the book, but it is intended to show emotions that had been narrated.
* The book has Vincent and Ernie traveling to the cult’s private island. The movie stays in [[Wikipedia:Los Angeles|Los Angeles]].
* The book describes scenes of training exercises the cult uses to teach its members how to function like dinosaurs again. All of it intended to give them a chance to be dinosaurs without the confines of living inside a human skin (though the underlying intent is sinister). This is not shown in the film, although it is implied.
* Years of training and conditioning revert cult members to a [[Wikipedia:feral|feral]] state in the book. In the film, the revolutionists use a banned herb. The exercises have nothing to do with it.
* In the book, Vincent is not tempted to go along with the revolution. The film attempts to show indecision in him, and even implies that ''every'' dinosaur has this same desire to revolt against the humans, break out of their disguises and take over. The books do not imply this at all. The dinosaurs resent the cover-up but they also accept it as the best way to live.

Gay Yiffy Club was first build by Senjin the dragon, a dutchfur, on the RPG [[Furcadia]]. After a couple attacks of 'different minded' people the Club was destroyed and never rebuild on Furcadia.

As a technology demo, the film is a remarkable visual achievement, showcasing animation and rendering techniques that until recently were only accessible to professional studios.

The story is about what happens to Bon Agornin’s family after his death. At the funeral, Agornin’s son-in-law takes more than his fair share of the inheritance (which is the privilege of eating part of the deceased). Avan, Agornin’s younger son, files a lawsuit for the inheritance denied him and his sisters.

Meanwhile, his other son, in the clergy, agonizes over his father’s deathbed confession. One of his daughters becomes involved in the abolition movement. His oldest daughter (married to the aforementioned son-in-law) sacrifices her life for her husband. His third daughter was touched by a man before she was properly courted, turning her scales pink, so that now the likelihood of marriage for her is in jeopardy.

It is not a typical fantasy novel, even by [[furry]] standards. It is Victorian, which means that the story revolves around social etiquette and marriage instead of action and adventure. This book simply uses dragons instead of humans to tell a Victorian story, while adding some new elements for a different flavor on these themes.

According to the author’s introduction, she wrote the book with these thoughts in mind:

Utahraptor was discovered in 1992, during the movie’s production, proving that Spielberg’s giant, fictional raptors were real after all. I figured my opinion of Victorian novels was the problem (only because it's true :-), but I was afraid I might've given away too much of the story, too. When I added [[Anonymous Rex (novel)|Anonymous Rex (novel)]], I included some details and it ended up like an advertisement. I think I was afraid of that again so I over-edited. There are at least half a dozen subplots, most relating to one family after the death of their father. One of the children goes to court for his inheritance (the privilege of eating a fair share of his father’s body). His other son, in the clergy, agonizes over his father’s deathbed confession. One of his daughters becomes involved in the abolition movement. Another sacrifices her life for her husband. A third was touched by a man before she was properly courted, turning her scales pink. Now her likelihood to get married is in jeopardy.

It is not a typical fantasy novel, even by [[furry]] standards. It is Victorian, which means that the story revolves around social etiquette and marriage. Indeed in every Victorian novel marrying up is the be all and end all of life for women, and getting married is what every gentleman is expected to do. This book simply uses dragons instead of humans while adding some new elements for a different flavor on Victorian themes.

According to the author’s introduction, she wrote the book with these thoughts in mind:

It is notable for its change in narrative style. Unlike in the first two, there is less humor and no sex scene.
