FurToonia was started in January 1994, after [[ShasMUCK]] was handed off by [[Shasta]] to [[Kahz]], and the name was then changed to FurToonia. The MUCK was primarily built by [[Tabyathe]], [[Kahz]], and [[Alexei]] and Ginger, with help from [[Sonic (person)|Sonic]], Telkintar and [[Rrauwl]], and [[MUF]] coding and technical work by [[Squirrelly]] and Ruffin. By late 1994 or so, FurToonia was fairly popular as an alternate gathering spot when [[FurryMUCK]] was inaccessible due to problems with its internet connection.

It also became a home for the kinds of [[roleplay]] and personalities that FurryMUCK didn't always approve of, given the MUCK's more progressive policies. Some feel that there were a number of internal cultural conflicts during this time, including one that centered around an adult establishment which many felt was against the overall theme of the MUCK. The reality is, conflicts like those were mostly external in the early years, meaning that progressive policy was created and supported by both the owner and the WizCore. As is often the case, the loudest battles are fought loudly by people with no real say in the matter. This stance may or may not have changed in later years.

By late 2005, interest and attendance have trailed off somewhat, however the MUCK was and is the scene of some sprawling, and in many cases interesting and cleverly executed building projects; its database contains at least 200,000 objects.

== Vorderman Post ==

Hi Spirou Can i please have some clarification if a factual event that happned at EF13 warents a post on wikifur. As southpaw is pretty adiment that it is not witin guidelines for Wikifur (Sorry My first article so its going to be a mess!)

Reasons that i think it deserved a post was that around 80% of the con actualy was into it at one point. The dance floor errupting and a few of the orginazers such as cheetah and uncle kage got in on the act. A lot of furrs have since asked "what was it all about" {{unsigned|WolfieUk|20:34, 12 September 2007 (UTC)}}

As it stands, the entry is about a very localized, spur of the moment, event that, all thought occurring in a furry convention and propagated by furs, it (at this time,) doesn't stand out, or being furry common enough, to warrant it's own entry (vs something like [[Krystal can't enjoy her sandwich]], which, all though quick and new, it crossed all layers of furry fandom very quickly in a popular fashion with a lot of people, enough to be noteworthy.)

I prefer dictionary-tabbing out segments versus making sub-segments, especially when the topics covered are short enough that they could be covered in a bulleted list (not to mention it causes that ugly Table Of Contents to show up, which is really unnecessary when we're discussing many short definitions). I consider it more 'wiki-like' in making sure the content is not obscured by needless details, and in this case your changes are the equivalent of a ten-pound parcel for a ten-ounce cargo.

I would really rather you leave my edits in that regard alone. I don't mind content being corrected, but the 'many small segments' appearance really bothers me, unless you intend on expanding each of the segments in [[How To Be a Furry]] out into sizable enough portions to be worth the alteration fairly soon. The MUCK was primarily built by [[Tabyathe]], [[Kahz]], and [[Alexei]] and Ginger, with help from [[Sonic (person)|Sonic]], Telkintar and [[Rrauwl]], and [[MUF]] coding and technical work by [[Squirrelly]] and Ruffin. By late 1994 or so, FurToonia was fairly popular, partly because of its role as a "spillover" MUCK, an alternate gathering spot when [[FurryMUCK]] was inaccessible due to problems with its internet connection.

It also became a home for the kinds of [[roleplay]] and personalities that FurryMUCK didn't always approve of, given the MUCK's more progressive policies. Some feel that there were a number of internal cultural conflicts during this time, including one that centered around an adult establishment which many felt was against the overall theme of the MUCK. The reality is, conflicts like those were mostly external in the early years, meaning that progressive policy was created and supported by both the owner and the WizCore. As is often the case, the loudest battles are fought loudly by people with no real say in the matter. This stance may or may not have changed in later years.

By late 2005, interest and attendance have trailed off somewhat, however the MUCK was and is the scene of some sprawling, and in many cases interesting and cleverly executed building projects; its database contains at least 200,000 objects.

Some feel that there were a number of internal cultural conflicts during this time, including one that centered around an adult establishment which many felt was against the overall theme of the MUCK. The reality is, conflicts like those were mostly external in the early years, meaning that progressive policy was created and supported by both the owner and the WizCore. As is often the case, the loudest battles are fought loudly by people with no real say in the matter. This stance may or may not have changed in later years.

By late 2005, interest and attendance have trailed off somewhat, however the MUCK was and is the scene of some sprawling, and in many cases interesting and cleverly executed building projects; its database contains at least 200,000 objects.
