[[Image:Cbee Krystal sammich.png|right|frame|[[Krystal]] not enjoying a sandwich]]
Furry art community [[Fur Affinity]] has been struck by a visual [[Wikipedia:meme|meme]], as [[artist]]s depict their characters either enjoying or unable to enjoy their food.

The meme began on Sunday night, when a user named "krystalcantenjoyhersandwich" extracted part of an image uploaded by [[cbee]] featuring popular [[Star Fox]] character [[Krystal]].<ref>[http://www.furaffinity.net/user/krystalcantenjoyhersandwich/ krystalcantenjoyhersandwich] at [[Fur Affinity]]</ref><ref name="sammich">[http://www.furaffinity.net/view/678441/ oe - sammich], reposted by [[cbee]] (July 23, 2007)</ref>
cbee drew and posted the original to Fur Affinity on June 9.<ref>[http://oekaki.kemonoart.org/rakugaki.cgi?mode=resp;no=231 nom nom sammich] - cbee, Kemonoart oekaki (July 9, 2007)</ref>

{{q|I originally drew this while being on a [[Wikipedia:Bob Ross|Bob Ross]] high on the Kemonoart [[oekaki]] board. Krystal was added as an afterthought and to meet an unwritten "must contain furry" rule.<ref name="sammich" />}}

The new user inserted cbee's drawing of Krystal into photographs of disastrous events which might be expected to make her sad, and uploaded them to Fur Affinity. They also added the character to a drawing by another artist, resulting in a complaint.<ref>''[http://verix.livejournal.com/533738.html FURAFFINITY: WE NEED ADMINS OH GOD HELP WE NEED THEM NOW]'' - [[Verix]]'s LiveJournal (July 23, 2007)</ref>

cbee considered his own work free to use, and other artists created and posted their own art based on the theme.

The new user and cbee were banned, and many related images were removed, including the original. cbee's ban was lifted an hour later by [[Pinkuh]], who admitted it was a mistake.<ref>[http://www.furaffinityforums.net/showthread.php?tid=10850 I don't really know what to say about this] - [[DavidN]] et. al., FurAffinity Harassment/Site Violations forum (July 22, 2007)</ref> The removed images were reposted shortly afterwards on furry [[Wikipedia:imageboard|imageboard]] [[Lulz.net]].<ref>[http://www.lulz.net/furi/res/70918.html Krystal can't enjoy her sandwich] - /furi/, [[Lulz.net]] (July 23, 2007)</ref>

The activity prompted over sixty users to create and post variations of the image using their own characters.<ref>[http://www.furaffinityforums.net/showthread.php?tid=10850&pid=184060#pid184060 Post with user avatars on the meme]</ref> The current ''[[Vinci & Arty]]'' is devoted to the meme.<ref>[http://www.vincifruit.com/index.php?Strip=276 We don't get it either] - [[Candy Dewalt]] and [[Ryan Dewalt]], ''[[Vinci & Arty]]''</ref>

'''Anime''' (transliterated from the Japanese (アニメ), sometimes as '''animé''') literally means "animated." Although the exact definition of the term varies, the most common definition means any animated production that has extended plots, an overarching storyline, and character development, as opposed to a ''cartoon'', which has, at best, running gags. (The word is often used by aficionados of visual art precisely because it does not have the childish connotations of the English word "cartoon.") The equivalent term for non-animated sequential-art storytelling is [[Manga]]. Some people attach other significances to the word animé (such as only applying to Japanese animation), and the exact definition of the term in English is flexible.

Many furs are interested in animé, because unlike "[[funny animal]]" cartoons, [[furries]] in animé are more likely to have involvement in a plot. Although [[anthropomorphic]] characters (known as ''[[kemono]]'' or ''kedamono'') are frequent in a large number of series that are not otherwise furry (such as Oolong in ''[[Wikipedia:Dragonball|Dragonball]]''), there are a number of series that specialize in kemono, such as [[Hyper Police]] and [[Sonic X]], as well as movies such as [[Bagi]].

==In popular culture==
In the [[:w:Dungeons & Dragons|Dungeons & Dragons]] universe, a "Wolfwere" is completely different compared to the normal lycanthropic werewolf. It is a wolf who polymorphs into a quadrupedal human shape and a humanoid-wolf hybrid, often retaining the bipedal stance. It was also featured in the video game ''Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast'' and the ''Ravenloft'' setting.

In [[Werewolf: The Apocalypse]], practically there exist a species of wolfweres (though they are never actually called such) much like the ones in Dungeons & Dragons mentioned above. They are known as the "Lupus" breed of Garou and are born from the union of a werewolf and a wolf. They are born as ordinary wolves, and will eventually go through a change in which they gain human intelligence and the ability to shapeshift from wolf to human and various states in between.

[[Image:Anthro vixen.jpg|right|thumb|A general vixen]]
A '''vixen''' is a [[female]] [[fox]].

==Etymology==
The word is related to ''fox'', although in a roundabout way. It comes from the Old English ''fyxen'', the feminine form of ''fox'', formed by the addition of the feminine suffix -en. However all other words formed by this suffix have since been lost, so the word vixen represents the sole word containing the Old English feminine suffix that survives in the modern language (one notable one was ''wylfen'', meaning a female [[wolf]]). This distinction has a cognate in other Germanic languages where the feminine suffix is still productive. For example in German the general ''Fuchs'' is ''Füchsin'' in the feminine, formed by the addition of the feminine suffix -in. The change from f to v is a result of the [[Wikipedia:West_Country_dialects|West Country dialect]] accent that voiced initial f sounds in a few words (vixen, vane, vat) to v.

==Stereotypes==
A furry equivalent of the "[[Wikipedia:dumb blonde|dumb blonde]]" stereotype applies to vixen characters, leading to practices like the telling of [[vixen jokes]]. This is directly contradicted by the "cunning fox" stereotype however, so vixens can be clichéd as either ditzy ''or'' devious. (For an example of the former, see [[Sheila Vixen]]; for the latter, see [[Räven (Hedningarna)|Räven]].)

Being a notorious sexy female label in human porn and erotica, "vixen" is sometimes used to refer generically to sexy female furry characters in contexts such as [[Wikipedia:Pin-up girl|cheesecake]] art. They're also the obvious candidate species for creations such as the infamous [[Vixen Vending Machine]] from [[FurryMUCK]]. Another common stereotype for a vixen, based on this label is that they are in heat far more often then other species would be or even non stop.

'''Furtopia''' is a grassroots [[furry]] community website that provides web hosting services to [[artist]]s, [[writer]]s and [[:Category:Musicians|musicians]] of the [[furry]] [[fandom]]. It has been doing so at no charge since 2002, under the domain names of furtopia.org and dragoncity.net, with the most recent introduction of Artistsworld.com as a non-furry art gallery. The site is run by Gene Angel ([[WhiteShepherd]]) and Kaycy Ruffer ([[Kada-Ru]]), although several other staff members and moderators also play a prominent role in the upkeep of the site.

== Services ==

The community services at Furtopia include a bulletin board, the ''furtopia.org forums'', which host a broad range of furry topics of discussion. Furtopia also broadcasts its own internet radio station called [[Radio Furtopia]], which currently features radio shows hosted by furry DJs up to twelve hours a day, seven days a week. Other services include FurJournal, an online [[MUCK]]ing client, and an [http://irc.furtopia.org/ IRC network].

Furtopia is unusual amongst free hosts in that it offers Server Side Includes, PHP, and MySQL support. Many free hosting services do not offer such resources.

==Staff members==
As of March 2007, the following individuals serve in an amplified role on Furtopia's website and/or forums:

'''Administrators:'''
* [[WhiteShepherd]] - founder, server administrator, web designer
* [[Kada-Ru]] - co-founder, web designer
* [[Benjamin]] - forums administrator, graphic and web designer

* [[Streak (person)|Streak]]
* [[Baconstrip]]

==History==
On March 21, 2002, Furtopia went live. The first incarnation of Furtopia ran on a Cyrix 133 using OS/2 and Xitami running on a 768 Kbps SDSL line (at an operation cost of about $300/month). The original forums were simple, inadequate scripts in great need of being replaced. It was at this point that [[Benjamin]] had stepped in to help out.

After some discussions between WhiteShepherd and Benjamin, the [http://forums.furtopia.org/ '''furtopia.org forums'''] were initially set up on November 25, 2002. The design that Benjamin had created for the forums was so popular that it was later adopted for the main site's design and even made its way onto the t-shirts used for fundraising for the site.

The server was later upgraded to a K6/2 550 MHz (with the Cyrix becoming a backup server), and this was in turn upgraded to an Athlon 2400 running on a pair of 768 Kbps DSL lines.

Eventually, the server became co-located to where it currently resides in Texas at ThePlanet data center.

==Charity work==
Furtopia is recognized for its charity work. Its parent organization, Two Trees Inc., is registered as a 501(c)3 charity and has made notable donations in computers and art to the underprivileged, most recently through its ''Arts For Kids'' program.

On September 1, 2005, as [http://www.dutchfurs.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=444 reported on the dutchfurs.com newsfeed], Furtopia also [http://cgi.furtopia.org/cgi-bin/ib311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=12640 announced] they would be helping furries affected by Hurricane Katrina by accepting donations of money, clothing, or shelter. All proceeds were to go towards furries in need. Over $750 was donated by members of the furtopia.org forums, most of which went to purchasing clothes for furries affected by the tragedy.

==Spin-off communities==

Furtopia's message boards have come under criticism for the content of its rules and the way they are enforced. The site administrators explain that they view Furtopia as their home, since they pay the bills,<ref>[http://cgi.furtopia.org/cgi-bin/ib311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=12;t=15953#entry257698350993 Post about furtopia being a home] by Kada-Ru</ref> and that is why there are some topics that are considered out of bounds.<ref>[http://cgi.furtopia.org/cgi-bin/ib311/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=1;t=20851 furtopia.org forums posting rules and guidelines]</ref>

As such, several ex-members have created separate boards for discussion that could not take place otherwise. The boards created include [[LOLfurries]] and [[Furmont]] in February 2006. Both communities have posters who post, or used to, at Furtopia. These communities were created for discussion which interested their creators, and at least in one case, not for expression of anti-Furtopia sentiment.

'''Rimpala''' is a [[furry artist]] and [[lifestyler]], he is a regular user of [[deviantART]] and well-known member of [[Furtopia]]. Rimpala is relatively new to the [[furry fandom|fandom]], but it's quickly becoming an inseparable part of his life, mainly because he's always had a strong connection to animals and [[anthro art]], but also because he's had a mostly warm reception from the furries he's met. His art is focussed upon use of color, humor, and an emphasis on expression.

== Mythology (fursona) ==

[[Image:Svahaarimpala.jpg|thumb|right|Rimpala as depicted by ''Savaaha'']]

'''Rimpala''' (also known as '''Rimp, Rimmy, Rimmi, Rim, and Rimpala Kheperu''') is a little known [[Wikipedia:demigod|demigod]] from [[Wikipedia:Ancient Egypt|Ancient Egypt]], worshiped mainly in the Lower Kingdom, and in his native [[Wikipedia:Nubia|Nubia]]. He is half-man, half-[[Wikipedia:impala|impala]], or sometimes depicted as being fully impala. Unlike other Egyptian gods, Rimpala can be seen wearing clothing from other cultures as well as Egyptian wear, probably due to being a foreign god to begin with. As he is associated with nature, he can sometimes even be depicted naked.

According to the myth, Rimpala left the Egyptian pantheon of gods to live on earth, and has lived there since ancient times, having seen many events and cultures through the ages and uses this knowledge in his art. Evidence of his existance in modern times has made him increasingly popular among [[Wikipedia:Neopaganism|neo-pagans]] and [[furry spirituality|furry spiritualists]], as he seems to reinforce their beliefs.

Despite being a demigod, Rimpala has been known for saying "I'm ''not'' a megalomaniac! He is actually very humble and friendly with everybody.

== Artwork ==
Because of his connection to [[deer]] and [[Wikipedia:Antelope|antelopes]], Rimpala has drawn and painted a number of [[ungulate]] furries and makes sure they get the attention they deserve. Every month, he even releases an Ungulate Furry Calendar. Each time a male and female version, subjects usually dress to celebrate a holiday within the month and are in sexy pin-up poses. The Calendar itself is a parody of adult entertainment and soft porn. The Calendar also involves Rimpala's love for costumes, another common feature of his artwork.
Rimpala also draws [[yiff]] but [[Fur Affinity]] is the only place you'll see his erotic art showcased. Of particular note of his mature art is his
[[Wikipedia:golden showers|golden shower]] subjects. These drawings are becoming well-received by furry [[Wikipedia:Urolagnia|urophiliacs]] becuase he often includes humor - which allows the drawings to be enjoyed by everyone - and always tries to treat the fetish with pride and dignity. Other yiff may include romantic pictures of him and his boyfriend Mike. Again, he treats homosexuality with a sort of openness and confidence he can enjoy under the accepting furry fandom.

Another bulk of his artwork includes Kemetic subjects. Rimpala is a devout [[Wikipedia:Kemetic Wicca|Kemetic Wiccan]] and often worships his Egyptian gods through his artwork. This line of artwork earned him many friends amoung the pagan furs and even from Christian furs. Whatever the religion may be, Rimpala encourages everyone to be faithful to it. Rimpala is very Socratic and knows no one person knows the universe, especially himself.

== Richard Thomas ==
[[Image:Richard.jpg|left|frame|The real Rimpala]]
Rimpala is played by '''Richard Thomas'''. He lives in [[Wikipedia:Orlando, Florida|Orlando, Florida]] and is currently going to college and working at [[Wikipedia:Islands of Adventure|Islands of Adventure]]. He is rather emotional at times and covers the artistic-weird image very well, but is generally very friendly, lovable, open-minded, and charming, or so he's told.

Long URL's will be automatically compressed to the first 60 or 70 or so characters.

==Special Characters (©,™,®)==
Typing the following will automatically produce these copyright related symbols:

*(c) --> ©
*(tm) --> ™
*(r) --> ®

Note: The letters are not case-sensitive, it can be either (C), or (c).

More then 5 dashes in a line are replaced with a horizontal line Note: One newline character above and one newline character below the line will be stripped. If there are more then one newline after those dashes - they will be rendered.

==Comic navigation links==
<nowiki>[369022, 98655, 375898]</nowiki> --> <<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>

This is a quick way to make the navigation links for those artist that do comics. The number in this code refers to the submission ID number. The submission ID is the number shown in the URL bar, after the /view/ or /full/.For example, with http://www.furaffinity.net/view/504225/, the ID would be 504225.

(The submission ID is highlighted in red)
# Only one whitespace character is allowed anywhere between the numbers, semicolons and square brackets.
# To disable a certain link, for example you don't have the "next" link on your latest piece or the "first" link on your first one, replace the ID with a dash, "-". and that link will be disabled.
# Works only only in submission descriptions.

#nun wird die maske mit einer zweiten dünnen schicht klebstoff bedeckt und das fell aufgeklebt. spannt es nicht zu sehr da es sonst verzieht. dünne schicht kleber da es sonst das fell durchdringt. am idealsten ist es wenn das fell groß genug ist um kopf und halspartie aus einem stück zu formen.
#nun die nase und zähne aus modeliermasse oder pattex füllmasse wird schneller fest leichter nachzubearbeiten und stabieler formen, je nach tier verschieden (die richtige form ist wichtig da diese charakteristisch für die gattung ist) die lippen werden entweder aus kunst- naturleder oder pregnanten stoff gestalltet (falls nötig).
#nun werden die die augen mit einem achter oder zwölfer bohrer zentral gelocht, vorsicht sonst schielt´s. augen nase zähne bebahlt und ein entsprechender haarschnitt verpasst. anschließend kann man noch ein haarteil fertigen. die ohren werden am rand teilweise oder durchgehend mit draht umrandet und durch eine dünne platte(poly) aufgenäht und fixiert.

===Plastic mesh===
Using only plastic mesh, sewing cord and a little wire for structure one can achieve a very thin head base
==Eyes==
{{User:StalkerAT/Template:Info:Fursuit.org|fursuit:headpers:eyes}}
===Large Plastic Bowl technique===
Using parts of a white plastic bowl, acrylic paint for the iris and a semitransparent black fabric ([[w:Chiffon (fabric)|Chiffon]]) for the pupil. Assembly via [[w:Hot glue|hot glue]]. A Tip: Hot water might make the plastic bowl softer and better to cut.
===Plastic Half spheres===
{{User:StalkerAT/Template:Info:Fursuit.org|fursuit:headpers:teeth}}
Veterinary Pathologists' Assistants are known to built real looking teeth, but it's sometimes difficult to make the teeh look good on a costume, especially if the bough teeth were not planed with from the start.

=Body=
Made of Fur fabric, the problem here is to sew a fitting suit.
==Bought pattern==
Always an option, there are many one part bodysuit patterns for sale.
==Tape construction==
Put on a one-way paper suit and fit it to yourself with ductape
==Resewing cloths==
Take a cloth, carefully rip it apart and take the result as a pattern.

=Hands=

=Feet=

=Appandages=
==Tail==
===Wire==
A wire base, while almost too hard, makes a tail stable and, if joints are added, quite movable. Animatronics are also an option.
===Foam===
A foam base makes a tail quite soft to touch, but once in form it stays that way and swings only when ass-shaking.
===Wool===
Sew the tail and insert some wool to give it volume. Easy, affordable, but not very modifyable. Insert a chain for better swing.
A foam base makes a tail quite soft to touch, but once in form it stays that way and swings only when ass-shaking.
Sew the tail and insert some wool to give it volume. Easy, affordable, but not very modifyable. Insert a chain for better swing.

StalkerAT: /* Schools of magic */ This shouldn't be part of an explanation.

[[Image:Ironclaw cover.jpg|right|Ironclaw's cover]]
'''Ironclaw''' is a [[role-playing game]] by [[Sanguine]] founded on a dice comparison system and created with [[furries]] in mind. There are a total of 12 initial [[species]], although players are encouraged to create their own.

== Character creation ==

During the [[character]] creation process, the players are given 20 points with which to develop their character. The player starts by choosing a species (which may cost some character creation points) and career. 10 points may be spent on 'Gifts', or special abilities or characteristics that give the character an advantage over others.

The player is then encouraged to imbue their character with 'Flaws', which add more depth to their character (the players are asked to roleplay any flaws they give their character). Beginning characters may gain up to 10 points back through flaws, both to round out the character as a person and give the player a few extra points to spend. Finally, the player chooses a selection of skills for their character, defining what they can do.

== In-game factions ==

The basic premise of Ironclaw is one of caste struggle on the mythical island of [[Calabria]]. The are four great noble houses locked in a struggle for superiority:

* [[Rinaldi]]: a house of [[fox]]es that control the economic and cultural capital of the island. They were once a great and powerful house but they have fallen from their former glory.
* [[Avoirdupois]]: a noble house of religiously devout and martial [[horse]]s.
* [[Bisclavret]]: a [[wolf]] house that has given up its pagan past and seeks its place through modernization.
* [[Doloreaux]]: a house of stubborn boars who practice the 'old ways' of nature worship.

There are numerous other minor houses of various races that swear fealty of the four great houses.

Set in a European early-renaissance fantasy theme, players can select to become anything from mercenaries to wizards to scoundrels and everything in between.

== Game system ==

The dice system is a bit unusual to most to begin with, and it isn't without problems, but it handles very well once players become used to it. All tests (skills, combat, finding things, etc) are run through comparing dice-rolls ranging from four-sided to twelve-sided in size.

One of the advantages the system does offer is flexibility from the lack of traditional 'classes'. A character can be a generalist following many paths with very little ease, but not at the cost of making focused 'class-style' characters unplayable. It is suggested that players do take a variety of abilities to make their characters more well rounded, however.

The magic system in Ironclaw is a modification of the skill system. A character slowly gains ability in casting a spell, going from an attempt through mental capacity of the character alone to doing it near effortlessly from practice and understanding.

== Schools of magic ==

There are four primary schools of [[w:Magic (paranormal)|magic]] but minor ones exist as well. The most common are as follows:

* [[Elementalism]]: specializing in the use of the [[w:Classical element|four natural elements]], this magic is flashy, loud, and quick to learn. It is primarily a 'combat magic' but in the hands of a clever wizard it is much more.
* [[Green and Purple Magic]]: Magic of the mind. Magicians of this school are prone to being subtle and mysterious and are rightly feared by those who know them for what they are.
* [[White Magic]]: traditional 'cleric stuff' such as protection and healing magics. The vast bulk of magicians following this path come from the church of S'allumer, but a few have learned this path on their own.
* [[Thaumaturgy]]: The magic of manipulating magic. The vast bulk of these spells change the workings of other magic spells, strengthening or weakening them.
* [[Necromancy]]: The forbidden school of black magic and manipulating the forces of life and death. Standard dark sorcery such as raising undead, inflicting curses and generally stealing or snuffing life from their victims. Dungeon Masters are encouraged by the guidebook to discourage newcomers from picking this school, as there is a high price to pay for wielding such magicks.

StalkerAT: german translation

'''The Wolves of Time''' is a series written by [[wikipedia:en:William Horwood (novelist)|William Horwood]]. The first book, ''Journeys to the Heartland'', was published in 1995, and the second, ''Seekers at the WulfRock'', in 1997. The story was originally intended to be three books. The second book (which was to be titled ''Wanderers of the Wolfways'') was scrapped subsequent to a publishing dispute involving the first book, and the series as published is a duology.

A german translation for both books was published in 1998 and 1999.

== Plot and characters ==

Set in the near future, the series details the rise and return of the (physically non-morphic) [[wolf]] after 1000 years of decline as '''Mennen''' (humans) utterly destroy themselves in a cataclysmic world war. The series delves into the fall of the wolf god, '''Wulf''', 1000 years prior, his fate and a far-flung smattering of wolves destined to bring about his return -- the Wolves of Time.

There are two chief groups of villains in the story: the '''Magyars''', an evil and twisted wolf pack and Mennen. Mennen and Magyars intermingle to their twisted means.

The main characters in the story are '''Klimt''', who suffers terrible loss at the hands of Mennen and, in revenge, breaks the wolves' most sacred rule forbidding attacks upon Mennen; '''Elhana''', a powerful ledrene who admires Klimt's leadership but desires Aragon; '''Aragon''', a very strong and capable leader by his own right who generally serves as beta, but lacks Klimt's experience and brings chaos to the pack due to his desires for the Elhana; '''Jicin''', a low-ranking female and outcast daughter of the evil Magyars' ledrene who loses ledreneship of the Wolves of Time pack to Elhana but maintains mutual feelings for Klimt; '''Kobrin''', a large, powerful and accomplished Russian wolf warrior who gives the Wolves of Time their sharpest and most loyal teeth; and '''Tervicz''', who becomes the first to meet Klimt and becomes his loyal, trusted advisor. The chief villains are '''Dendrine''', the vile, cruel and brutal ledrene of the Magyars; her mate, '''Hassler'''; and the vile, cruel and brutal Mann, '''Huntermann''', who brings about a cataclysmic war among the Mennen that becomes their downfall (and enabling the wolves to rise again).

The story does contain some very harsh scenes and is '''not''' for children.
