'''Shiek Delmar''' (Born in April 1991) is a New Zealand furry at heart whom currently resides in South Australia. Shiek is a therian '''[[Snow Leopard]]''' and though many times has shown himself as human form instead of his fursona. Shiek has been a furry since 2005 and also discovered his Therianthropy roots in late 2004. Since then he has continued to become a respected member of the Furry Community though slowly still avoiding the Therian community.

Shiek is expected to be moving to New Zealand in mid 2010 after the studies for a Diploma in Live Production (Tecnical Operations) is completed. It will be most likely that Shiek will be living in Auckland city though arrangements have not been detailed as of yet.

Shiek Delmar has always lived in South Australia, not even having leaving the state. Though South Australia has slowly become stranger to Shiek as time passed and now not even feeling at home in the state.

In 2005, unfortunate circumstances had overcome Shiek's family with the sudden loss of his mother to a stroke on the 25th of October. With this Shiek's independence had to kick in. With no father also, Shiek was placed under Guardianship of the Minister (GoM) and moved between student houses and share houses to this day.

Shiek, now finished Year 12 in High School, applied at TAFE to enter a Diploma in Live Production (Technical Operations) from 2009 onwards. With this Diploma, Shiek hopes that this will help him progress into the Audio Industry in becoming a Sound Technician for his future career.

=== Hobbies and Interests ===

Shiek's main interests have always included a mix of sound and imagery. With Photography being one of his main hobbies in his spare time, working mainly with urban photography of old buildings and city life, he also loves to capture images of anything that really intrigues him, this can include things from Landscape Photography, animals and Night Time Photography.

Another interest that Shiek has continued to follow through the years is his interest with Audio. Not only just the manipulations of sound and mixing, but also the distance, echo's and way sound is produced from speakers and other audible devices. Though electronics has not been much of an interest.

Shiek has produced some mixes in previous and has uploaded various podcasts and sets onto the net, but usually can not be found publicly and usually are hosted on private servers and only available on request.

As a small thing, Shiek has been a member of the Wikipedia Community for many years now, even before 2004. While being a member, Shiek has an advanced knowledge of Wiki MarkUp, the language on most Wiki's across the internet. With this Shiek is able to design pages, templates and many other things for Wiki sites and his own pages, also helping out other users if help is needed.

Shiek can also be found on various websites such as MyFursona, DeviantArt, LiveJournal, Torrenta and various others under the username 'Shiek'.

On games and such though, Shiek has gone by other names. Such as on a SimGame called KittenTracks. Shiek went by the name Mao (meaning cat) back in 2003.

On the MMO [[Furcadia]], Shiek goes by the name 'Jaz Kekaula' what is actually a name of one of his Soul Bonds that Shiek has, it's also a name of his snow leopard roleplying character.

== History ==

MyFursona was founded in September 2007 by Kevin J. Breslin - aka KovuTheHusky - a young programmer who has produced a range of different applications and websites in his spare time. This version (dubbed MyFursona Beta) was maintained solely by Kovu, over the next few months volunteer staff came on board; including Zack Green|Xerxes, who initially came on as [[wikipedia:Adobe Flash|Flash]] development but later as community control, xcxeon as security coder and Tori Belliachi as head of graphic design.

The name is possibly derived from [[MySpace]] and [[wikipedia:The Knack|The Knack]] single, [[wikipedia:My Sharona|My Sharona]]; the similarity between the song and the site's name has previously provoked discussion<ref>[http://www.myfursona.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=34 "Here I am, in MyFursona."] thread on the MyFursona forum; posted by [[Authorgunner]]. On March 1 2008, the new version of the site came online, named MyFursona RC1. Over the following month many new features were added, including a site wide search feature - provoking one user to humorously deem it "better than [[Fur Affinity]]".

Planned additions include an integrated forum, groups and an international [[furmeet]] and [[convention]] organization model — which is planned to be a major identifying feature of MyFursona and its aim to bring the [[furry]] community together.

=== April-May 2008 suspension/downtime ===

On the weekend of April 26-28, 2008, a massive influx of new user registrations was brought on by the plugging of profiles belonging to various well-known furs on sites such as Fur Affinity. Approximately 400 to 500 new registrations were made, a third of the user base before the weekend; this high volume of users was initially suspected to have caused downtime of the website on April 28.

It was later determined to be caused by Breslin's side project, [[Yiffbase]], a Google-like search engine for furry art. It had been set up to index sites such as [[Yiffstar]] and [[Fur Affinity]] by running a script from the MyFursona server, but due to a bug in its code it requested 400,000 pages in a short period of time. Breslin's host noticed this and suspended his network of sites temporarily, including MyFursona.

The site returned online at 9-pm EST on April the 28th, however was brought offline again due to people exploiting a previously unknown security hole. Eden already includes a number of features not available on the main MyFursona website.

The reason for the name was described as follows:

I'm skeptical of this use of fonts and borders to alter the look and feel of the page. For one thing, it might override a particular user's preferences and browser settings, which could be quite an issue if, for instance, someone has to use larger type because they are visually impaired. Should this sort of thing be encouraged, or would it be better to stick closer to the look and feel of most other articles on the site? I'm particularly skeptical of the "To contact Shiek" pop-up on the bottom of the screen. Finally, some of the content here might be more appropriate for the contributor's user page rather than the article, such as the list of IRC channels. It's odd, but quite a lot of British ''do'' seem to have an affinity for dragons. I've been meaning to tell you for some time--it's a pleasure working with you. I enjoy creating stubs and seeing you frequently soon add to them with external links and so forth. And you create elegeant stubs yourself!

I wanted to mention that I'm not planning to create many new articles for a time; I like the idea of our hitting ten thousand total articles soon after we move to wikifur.com, rather than while we're still at Wikia, and I'm not sure how our rate of growth will co-incide with the move schedule.
