I'm not aware of this term; a quick online search doesn't show it being used by other than the website--I suggest retooling this article into an article about the website, as has been done with such niche-use terms as [[Fixed Furs]]. -- [[User:Sine|Sine]] 02:05, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
== Let's Not Merge Them ==

Let's not merge the entry for "anthrofiction" with the entry for "Anthrofiction Network".

Anthrofiction is a general concept while [http://www.anthrofiction.net/ Anthrofiction Network] is the name of a website I created to promote anthrofiction. Besides my site, Stephen Abbott has [http://anthrofiction.com/ Anthrofiction Stories Web Site]. His site existed years before I started mine.

To the best of my knowledge, my definition of anthrofiction is the only published definition online or anywhere, but I didn't develop it in isolation. I started working on a formal definition in 2006. That definition is based on discussions I had with SimbaW and Nadan (Nathan Ryan) on the [http://www.anthroarchives.org/ AnthroArchives] forums, and with several other folks on the [http://www.critiquecircle.com/ Critique Circle] forums. The forum database from that era at AnthroArchives was lost, but I managed to save a text file of the discussion (but I failed to save metadata, such as the dates the original posts were made). I believe the posts in the Critique Circle database still exist at that website. I also synthesized ideas from several online essays about the nature of science fiction and fantasy, but failed to save bookmarks.

My concept of anthrofiction has drifted since 2006. I used to see it as distinct from furry fiction, but I know see them as nearly identical.

FYI, I use the spelling "anthrofiction" rather than "anthro fiction" because: Steve Abbott did so, and because "anthro" is usually used as a prefix and not a word in its own right. When I asked Steve where he first heard the word, he said from James Bruner.

I probably should write a definitive entry for "Anthrofiction" and post it. I have more thoughts on anthrofiction/furry fiction than will fit in [http://www.anthrofiction.net/anthrofiction.php that little definition box] on my web page. Plus I feel the definition I published is out of date. This all smacks of a single-sourced article, but I suppose with a bit of work I could find some of those old sources.
