SciuCaro (usually shortened to "Sciu") is the near-obsolete Internet alias for Santo Ciaravino. The SciuCaro name is a contraction of the first four letters of the genus and species of his fursona, the Eastern Gray Squirrel, Sciurus Carolinensis. Other names include:

* Skwirl (used in some artworks)
* Sato MacCullandy (a former name for his fursona, used in earlier chatgroups)

As of 2010, "Skwirl" is now his official stage name, as per establishing his new website. The only reason "SciuCaro" is currently used is because it remains as a screen name for accounts that already use the name. His new screen name using any new online accounts goes between "skwirl", "sc_skwirl", "scskwirl", or any such variant.

About Santo
Santo (b. 1987) is a New York Furry; a member of the Long Island Furs community.

Furry
Santo calls himself to be a "Latent Furry", stating he has felt the Furry essences all his life, long before encountering the subculture. He has been in the Furry culture since 2002, after finding out about it on the MTV's Sex2K episode.

Before finding Furry, Santo was originally a Polar Bear, and with a deeper connection before going to his Squirrel Fursona.

In 2005, he had started a short-lived movement to make Furry become more of a nation-like group, titled the Nationalist Furries. To this day he keeps it to himself, seeing how the rest of Furry is evolving.

In 2008, he created a fursuiting/activity group called the Furry Militia, a mock military organization where members dress up in military garb as if they were citizen-soldiers of the Furry people.

Personal
Santo joined the New York Guard in 2007.

Santo is an independent Game Designer. He created the Game Development Wiki to make a universal tutorial site for every aspect of Game Design and Development.

Santo is also a budding dance musician (Site). Currently, he has published one album: "Incisor"

Nature's Creatures
In 2003, Santo created a cast of characters with Macromedia Flash, called "Nature's Creatures". Back then, he intended to make a whole cartoon show out of them. Over time, they have been put aside for various reasons. However, Santo saw that everyone loves loop animations on the Internet, from Caramelldansen and Leekspin, to sites like discharges.org and dickcream.com, so he was inspired to make the Nature's Creatures cast again, doing various sorts of loops to different songs, usually the song pertaining to what's happening in the loop.

Erotica
In 2010, Santo published several Furry Erotica stories, declaring a start in a career as an author of the genre.

His original intent was to sell each individual story made through the Lulu Publish-On-Demand system, but after learning that another Furry erotica author had work taken down from the system, Santo released his stories for free and for purchase as PDF files. He is currently working to establish ground to promote, and later sell full-length books with collections of his stories.

The Furry Militia is a fursuiting and hobby/activity group created by SciuCaro, that bases its theme off of the concept of furry's very own militia organization, a "mock" furry military.

History
Inspired by his own service to a State Defense Force, he wanted to bring out the camaraderie, discipline, adventure, and fun that he experienced on occasion in actual service, to the furry community.

In 2008, the Furry Militia LJ community was created, and a little while later, the forum was created to accompany it, seeing the possible need for documentation and announcement in the future.

In 2010, the Furry Militia website moved over to the Webs.com service, for a cleaner upgrade than a site entirely run as a forum.

As of this article's creation, there has yet to be any official activity. The community is still in the works.

Activities
The Furry Militia is a hobby group with a variety of activities in the works. Such include:

* Wearing the uniform as a fursuit
* Adventuring, camping, and gear
* Formations and participating fursuit parades
* Airsoft
* Meeting at cons for mock drills

SciuCaro (b. May 24, 1987) is the Internet Alias for "Santo Ciaravino", a NY Furry with Italian background. He has been a member of the Furry Fandom since 2002, and still going, claiming he has felt 'animal' beforehand and he loves it.

The name 'SciuCaro' comes from the Genus and Species of his primary fursona, an "Eastern Gray Squirrel" (Sciurus Carolinensis).

SciuCaro is also known for his uncanny quasi-religious patriotism to the United States of America, particularly the spirit it had during the American Revolution. For this, he calls himself "The Patridiotic Squirrel".

SciuCaro's hobbies include Cartooning, Writing, Programming, Music Composing, and Game Design. He started Cartooning at the end of 2002 learning with Macromedia Flash MX. He began writing after being inspired by the movie, Duplex. He learned how to program in Python thanks to an online Furry friend of his. He wanted to make music and bought a copy of eJay. He wanted to delve into Game Design and started in March 2006 after acknowledging his mind for making current games better, or making games on his own.

Furry Tidbits
This is SciuCaro's profile that relates to his Furry side.

Fursonas
SciuCaro has 14 fursonas, but only two are his most prominent, his Squirrel and Polar Bear fursonas.

Here is a list of his fursonas and what they represent to him:
# Eastern Gray Squirrel - His free spirit and that he's nuts in general (His PRIMARY fursona)
# Polar Bear - His animal spirit prior to finding the Furry Fandom (His SECONDARY fursona)
# Scorpion - His favorite bug
# Bald Eagle - His patriotism for America
# Frog - His simple fascination
# Penguin - His love for (Ant)arctic regions
# Dog (Particularly Shih Tzu) - In honorary & loving memory of his family dog
# Cat - He loves cats
# Ant - He used to play with Ants
# Bee - His appreciation for Spring season
# Fox - His part in the Furry Fandom
# Mouse - He likes cheese
# Rabbit - His Chinese Zodiac
# Raccoon - His knack for salvaging garbage

Favorite Furry Artists
SciuCaro also likes Yiff Art. Some of his favorite artists include:
* Eric W. Schwartz
* Jeremy Bernal
* Adam Wan
* Dr. Comet
* Jay Naylor
* Doug Winger (None of the disturbing images.)

Finding the Fandom
SciuCaro was what is known as a latent furry, those who have the whole animal influence in them, but have not heard of the Furry Fandom yet.

Ever since childhood, he was fascinated with animals. He felt the Polar Bear was his totem, he played games with people involving animals, he roleplayed himself as animals, he read info on animals, and of course like any other Furry, enjoyed what the media had to offer, from Disney to WB.

In 2002, he found the infamous MTV episode of Sex2K that described the raunchy nature of the Furry Fandom. While other Furries were disgusted and disliked MTV's episode, SciuCaro was fascinated and did more research on it. After gaining a much better hold of what Furry was about, pretty much relating his experiences to that of other Furries, he then affirmed membership.

As Founder of Furry Nationalism
In mid-2005, SciuCaro was inspired to give the fandom a 'national spirit', to make the Furry fandom a distinct culture and give it the feel of a "Furry Nation", to bring the people together as a union of many, and do interesting and fun things, such as making a Furry Anthem, a Furry Flag, Furry Foods, etc. It even went as far as seeing each species as a 'state' in the 'union', with their own cultural and personality identity.

He tried to give it a start with the LiveJournal community, Nationalist Furries, but it has since been on a hiatus after a 9-day flamewar of resentments from other Furries. After a while, he felt it was prominent that the Furry Fandom was developing on its own and didn't need the boost of getting the feel of a nation, and decided to keep the 'idea' as a personal trend of his own and whoever else wished to take it that way.

SciuCaro outside of the Furry Fandom
Here is other information about SciuCaro, not relating to his Furry nature.

Politics
SciuCaro claims his politics should be above and beyond the Political Spectrum, as he wants no affiliation with the Left Wing, the Right Wing, or even the Moderates. However, since he has nationalist fervor for America and his politics are popular with the Right Wing, he's mistaken as a Right Wing. It's also seen that his politics could also be what was Left Wing a long time ago.

SciuCaro:
* Supports the US Second Amendment.
* Does not care for Abortion, but wants his own children.
* Does not care for Narcotics, but doesn't want it around him.
* Believes in Just War, and war should be fought on a homeland defensive measure instead of overseas offensives.
* Is Isolationist, not wanting anymore Foreign Entanglements.
* Is anti-UN and anti-Mundialism. He believes all peoples should keep their sovereignty.

Faith
SciuCaro used to be a Roman Catholic, but began questioning it as he got older. Around 6th grade, he was fascinated with Wicca and Paganism. In High School, he became a mainstream anti-Christian and turned to Atheism, trusting logic over faith. Before High School ended, he encountered "The Epiphany", a personal event that made him the more spiritual person he currently is, discovering that all people have a unique soul, and that that should be a driving force for one's self in any given situation. Morale, Willpower, Spirit, and Perseverance are some qualities that encourage human spirit.

SciuCaro calls himself a Nationalist, particularly for his homeland, America, but acknowledges the spirit of other nations. He feels that the soul of nations work as a guiding spirit for peoples, and they do not have to particularly be actual statehoods, as even a common group is enough.

He also calls himself a Deist, since he has welcomed God back into his life differently, knowing him as "His Divine Providence" and having a whole new interpretation on his spirituality, usually joking that the Founding Fathers are the Messiahs of humanity. The famous "All-Seeing Eye" is how SciuCaro pictures God as "His Divine Providence".

Interests and Peeves
SciuCaro is interested in:
* 1776 America
* Firearms
* 3rd, 4th, and 5th Generation Video Games
* Cartoon Shows
* Dance/Rap/Metal Music
* Cute Animals
* Modern Greece

SciuCaro dislikes:
* Emo/Depression
* Anime
* Anti-America
* Compulsory Academics
* Anti-Depressants and other similar medications/drugs

Anti-Depression Stance
SciuCaro is verily against Clinical Depression.

He believes that:
* Therapies or therapeutical drugs just make the person lower and are a waste of money.
* It works like a social bacteria, where if it hurts one person, it will hurt others and the strain grows.
* The only true way out of Depression is to make a whole revival and pride of one's own soul.
* The Emo subculture carries this as a popular trend.

Internet Shorthands
On forums or IM chats, SciuCaro uses some of his own abbreviations for terms, such as:

* sotc - Sign of the Cross. Used as a sign of respect or goodwill.
* aamof - As A Matter of Fact.

Quotes
* "Spirit prevails!" ~SciuCaro
* "Perseverance and Spirit have done wonders in all ages." ~George Washington
* "The Bald Eagle will not fly, unless both wings flap together." ~SciuCaro
